I should know the answer to this, but the more I think about it, the more confused I get.

My UY is March.

I just made a reservation for APR 2010, which used up my remaining 2009 points and all of my 2010 points.

DH just mentioned possibly running the marathon in JAN 2010.

If I want to make a reservation for JAN 2010, can I borrow from my MARCH 2011 UY, or will that not be possible since the trip is before MAR 2010?

I guess my other option would be to cancel the APR 2010 reservation, then make the JAN 2010 res using 2010 points. Then, I could rebook the APR 2010 trip using 2010 and some 2011 points.

Does that make sense?

TIA! :goodvibes

March 2011 UY allotment cannot be borrowed for January 2010 stay. Points may be only be borrowed into Use Year that would be immediately preceeding so to borrow March 2011 UY points your reservation dates would need to be from
March 1 2010 - Feb 28 2011.

MS should be able to re-allocate points for your April 2010 trip. It shouldn't be necessary for you to cancel ..... what they should do when you call for January 2010 reservation is tell them you want to use 2010 Use Year points for January 2010 trip - they will borrow those points into your 2009 Use Year to cover January 2010 trip; then MS will borrow 2011 UY points into 2010 UY to cover the dates for April 2010 UY trip.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much for the very quick reply!

Now it all makes perfect sense. :thumbsup2

As the PP said, you can readjust the points used for the April 2010 trip to cover the January 2010 reservation.

But just remember, once you make the switch and borrow the points, they can't be returned.

If you book Jan 2010 ressie, with the borrowed 2010 points, and then cancel, you would only have until Feb. 28th, 2010 to use them.

Good luck!
