My AP-ALOOZA Continues (WE RENEWED!!) ~ NEW TR link posted!

Just popping in to say we made it all on time last night!! Schools were closed in our area but thankfully that didn't stop the planes! Now to explore Miami today. I'm the only one awake so far ;)

Thanks for all the notes of good wishes! <3

I haven't been able to reply much because the only time I can really read the forums is the occasional slow times at work (I'm a nurse so most of the time I'm running around) but I did get to catch up & I just wanted to wish Aria a happy 3rd birthday & wish you a great trip!!!

So many GREAT character meets that morning! DHS doesn't have a ton of attractions for little kids, but they definitely make up for it in character meets, that's for sure. All the love for Jake at breakfast melted my heart. So sweet! I think we are going to try H&V for breakfast on our next trip. DS really loves Handy Manny for some reason (discovered him on the Disney Jr. app) and it would be nice to meet all the Disney Jr. characters without having to wait in several lines.

Well, by now you're on vacation, so HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!

Yay, glad you made it! Have fun!

Thank you!!

The characters were so much fun! Breakfast is a must do while she continues her love for Jake & Sofia.

Thank you!

Well, and just like that we are HOME! Actually made it home Monday night right on schedule despite getting another foot of snow that day (I was hoping to get "stuck" in florida an extra couple of days hehe).

The trip was amazing! Miami is a place we don't need to return to (just not our scene) but definitely will do another Disney Cruise at some point, and we loved the Keys! Still had some ups and downs (such as major fever & sickness on day 2 of the cruise for Aria and then I got it in the Keys, boo) and getting washed out at Castaway Key, but EVERY day was filled with amazing memories. I already uploaded all the photos on the computer (no lost SD cards woohoo) and just need to do a little editing on the RAW files. I am SO excited to write up the TR! But I will finish August first. So without further ado:

Next we hopped into the short line for Ralph & Vanellope. We had just seen the movie (Andrew loved it!) but Aria was too nervous to go by herself so I didn't snap any photos - thank goodness for photopass!

After all of those characters, it was time to use our FP for the Disney Junior show!
Aria was very into it this time!! During the Jake portion she loved the tick tock crock part and the gold doubloons the most!

Then we headed to VotLM. We waited maybe 5 minutes and then were able to grab a seat. I chose a row that a bunch of people were going into so I didn’t need to be “that person that stopped in the middle of the row” and instead just got perfect seats! I was surprised how filled it got!

The show was a little scary and pretty quickly Aria jumped into my lap, but by the end of it she was fine and said she enjoyed it.
10599593_10100198850549051_2869352874711233862_n.jpg

I also had a FP for the GMR to use, so that was our next destination. It had been a LONG time since I rode this, and looking back should have skipped it, but live and learn! BTW, the FP is not very fast for this attraction. You are let in right at the top of the big movie room and still have to do all those switchbacks. We finally made it to the loading area and were seated in a row with another mom and young daughter who was just about Aria’s age.

The start of the ride was fine but we soon made it into the gangster scene and it all fell apart. Actually the little girl in our row started BAWLING which set Aria off, and the two of them proceeded to cry during the next few scenes. Just as they were settling down we made it into the Egypt scene where the driver comes back on board and both were set off again.

10670257_10100198850738671_2756528351677074314_n.jpg

The Wizard of Oz finally settled them down and Aria stopped shaking. Poor thing!

She wasn’t scarred for life though as she was back to being very happy once we got outside. It’ll be a long time before we ride that again! Our next destination was lunch, and I thought about checking out Pizza Planet since it has the Toy Story theme and who doesn’t love pizza? I really don’t love CS, esp by myself when I’m pushing a stroller and holding food, plus Pizza Planet was PACKED so we ended up going upstairs via the elevator. I kept the food minimal and just ordered a pepperoni pizza to share which came with a caesar salad. Along with the slice she ate, Aria got all the pepperonis from the pizza and I ate the rest. It was fine, with some crushed red pepper it was edible and the salad was good.
10653755_10100198851008131_6910149884808068949_n.jpg

We were both pooped at this point and so I headed to the car. The plan was for Aria to do a stroller nap while I walked in all the shops at DTD. The construction was definitely going on and there were limited parking spaces but it was still early and I was able to snag a really good one near T-REX. I took a few construction photos on our way over
10649587_10100198851068011_3895278777220055192_n.jpg

Aria had fallen asleep almost immediately in the car, so after I parked I got the stroller all set up and then transferred her over, quickly putting the muslin blanket overhead and she passed back out quickly. I decided to walk all the way to the other end (where the Christmas shop is) and then work our way slowly towards T-REX where we had a 5:15 reservation for dinner.
10301956_10100198851112921_8098515653813044489_n.jpg

First I stopped in the Art of Disney store to check out their paintings. At this point Aria hadn’t seen any of these Kincaid square princess ones that I really wanted to buy, and I wanted her to pick it out so once again I left empty handed. I planned to return when she woke up though, which sort of messed up my plans of slowly walking towards dinner and I ended up walking in circles and visiting each store like 5000 times…but anyway…
10628046_10100198851212721_4152737362820600494_n.jpg

Next up I headed into the Christmas shop and found a really cute Duffy & Mickey ornament along with Anna’s shoe. Both made it to our tree this year and Aria loves them!

10628489_10100198851332481_7806496740258410895_n.jpg

I then headed to the Spice shop which is one of my favorite shops – the loose leaf tea is so much fun! Wish I had more as I’ve already gone through it. I also picked up some mini coffee tins – which by the way double as great toys for Aria’s play kitchen once used! We’ve also enjoyed all of those (except for the decaf) and they are really fun souvenirs I love getting. Aria wasn’t left out and I got her a Minnie placemat. My other favorite souvenier is bath bombs from Basin, but for some reason I thought I still had a bunch at home - turns out my Basin bag was empty but just hanging out in my closet as if it was full :( so sad!
10353696_10100198851372401_7503836483116565702_n.jpg

I then entered the cheapie shop and almost left but found a 5 for $20 section of clearance items and ended up buying a Dumbo plate, Jessie ornament, Alice ornament and stuffed animals from Doc and Sofia – all of which went into Aria’s stocking at Christmas!
1506506_10100198851661821_2182862162364265252_n.jpg

I kept on walking and visited a bunch of stores. I found a Minnie in Paris book that was perfect, but added it to Aria’s Amazon wishlist (it was cheaper there) and Lynda ended up getting it for her for Christmas. At the World of Disney I spent a TON – I remember buying her Anna doll there and have no clue what else though was disappointed to find zero women’s PJ pants as they were all shorts.
10686734_10100198851462221_8838499110063649418_n.jpg

Oh wait I found this photo! Looks like I also bought her a Belle nightgown (for way too much money of course), an Anna/Elsa reversible doll and Frozen figurines along with other stuff.
10606242_10100198851527091_2775752186550627873_n.jpg

After all that shopping I needed a snack, and a cool glass of wine from a food truck did the trick!
This is a beautiful food truck but not where I got my wine haha

This is the one I ordered from
10625044_10100198851646851_588584466923461171_n.jpg

After Aria had been sleeping for over 2 hours and I had visited all the stores, I uncovered her and started walking back towards the art of Disney store.
10603665_10100198851721701_2324323425567642546_n.jpg

On the way she woke up and we stopped at some restrooms for an outfit change and bathroom break. Then continued on to the store – Aria fell in love with the Cinderella one (I was hoping she’d love the Belle one) and I attempted to purchase. The CM went into the back room and brought one out, thankfully I checked it over and the corner was really nicked (with about a dime-size amount of painting missing!), so she went back and came back to say they were all like that! And of course the display was a mess too. So we left empty handed.

Obligatory Pooh photo
10649962_10100198851846451_787675242281081825_n.jpg

Our next stop was way more fun though – Once Upon a Toy for the fill a box of Mr Potato Head stuff! We had a blast with all the cute Disney specific parts and quickly managed to fill that up. Oh earlier I had also picked up a Duffy costume that makes him dressed like Mickey – she’ll get to open that on her birthday.

10622957_10100198852036071_3727823513955326022_n.jpg

Then we headed to the Lego Store!
10659370_10100198852120901_5488234718593161053_n.jpg

Aria got to play with some duplos for a while
10636344_10100198852300541_1092500575680164958_n.jpg

There were so many fun Duplo sets, I (I mean Aria…) want them all! Hehe I ended up letting Aria pick out 1 set and she kept loving the next set she found so I pulled out all the ones she said she wanted and put them in front of her so she could choose.
10689911_10100198852365411_111826029653993783_n.jpg

She chose well – and still plays with this set all the time! (and I got to work putting all the other sets back of course!)

Welcome back! I'm so glad you had a great time, and can't wait to hear all about the cruise! I'm sorry that your Castaway Cay day was a washout :(

The Disney Jr. Live show is on our must-do list for April. If we need to sneak out a few minutes early to make our ADR on time, is that a possibility if we sit towards the back? Or do you think we are stuck there for the duration?

You did a lot of shopping at DTD! I love Aria's dress that she was wearing after her outfit change - so cute!

I kind-of like how easy it is to select text and multi-quote now - makes it easier for me to remember what I wanted to comment on! :thumbsup2

The trip was amazing!
So glad you had a (mostly) good trip! Sorry you guys got sick, though. :sad2: I was actually thinking about that the other day - that it would be hard to have a vacation scheduled around this time, because there's a decent chance of being sick (it seems like everyone is sick right now with something - we've all had colds and everyone else at work, etc. seems to also). And Castaway Cay was a wash-out?! Man, they should give you another cruise just for that! ::yes:: Or at least let you come on ours for another shot at CC. :rotfl: (Speaking of which, feel free to throw any new-found cruising wisdom on my PTR :goodvibes - I haven't really gotten much into the cruise aspect yet on there, but have been thinking about it).

I am SO excited to write up the TR! But I will finish August first.
We've really gotta cut down on our Disney trips if we ever want to write up June! :rotfl2:(But I totally want to hear about your cruise ASAP, so that's okay).

Ralph & Vanellope. We had just seen the movie
Izzy just saw that movie recently too. Hadn't even thought about the meet. Are they still there?

Disney Junior show!
I think I'm going to give this another go in May. We went on Izzy's first trip and she was just too young to be interested and also didn't watch much TV yet. I think she'd appreciate it more now, despite not having seen the non-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows very much.

I chose a row that a bunch of people were going into so I didn’t need to be “that person that stopped in the middle of the row” and instead just got perfect seats!
I use that strategy too! :goodvibes

It had been a LONG time since I rode this, and looking back should have skipped it, but live and learn!
A few years back, when we ran into friends at WDW, we all went on this together. Their boys were like 4 & 6, I think, and they were really scared by the GMR. So, between that and what you just posted, I doubt I'll be taking Izzy on anytime soon.

Next up I headed into the Christmas shop and found a really cute Duffy & Mickey ornament along with Anna’s shoe. Both made it to our tree this year and Aria loves them!
Those are both super cute! Izzy would love them too.

I then headed to the Spice shop which is one of my favorite shops
Love that place too. We always come home with a bunch of spices. We actually have an unopened package of tea from there...I guess we're not tea people. Someday we should use it, if it's still good, I guess. :confused3

My other favorite souvenier is bath bombs from Basin, but for some reason I thought I still had a bunch at home - turns out my Basin bag was empty but just hanging out in my closet as if it was full :( so sad!
That reminds me...I have one of those too. Everyone was raving about them on the DIS, so I got one and forgot about it. I should try that thing sometime. :rotfl:

I found a Minnie in Paris book that was perfect, but added it to Aria’s Amazon wishlist (it was cheaper there) and Lynda ended up getting it for her for Christmas.
I may have peeked at this update over lunch and then ordered this book from Amazon for Izzy. :rolleyes1 Given that she's obsessed with Minnie and her grandparents are retired French teachers, it's seems obligatory that she have this in her library. ::yes::

Once Upon a Toy for the fill a box of Mr Potato Head stuff! We had a blast with all the cute Disney specific parts and quickly managed to fill that up.
Oooh, good idea. I should keep that in mind for May. I think Izzy would be into that now. Do you fill the box with just parts and get a potato head separately? Or is that included?

She chose well – and still plays with this set all the time!
Looks like a fun set - I mean, a princess AND a horse?! Nice! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for the cruise trip report!

Haha I can't wait to have some time to go through the photos!

Well the WHOLE day wasn't a washout, we actually were there from about 8:45-12:30 before the storm came raging in! So we definitely still had a wonderful day!

You shouldn't have a problem sneaking out, I'm sure they get that a lot with kids wanting to leave or whatever.

Thank you! I love DTD shopping!

I'm still getting used to the new DIS, and have no idea what you mean about how easy it is to multi quote and select text lol. I guess I need to play around!

Yep, it really is a tough time of year to travel. We all had colds for a good week leading up to the trip. They day we left we were all feeling pretty great, then Aria's came right back full force. It's never ending this time of year. Missing multiple snow storms was pretty great, though! The biggest issue for me though was that the water temperature was just too cold to enjoy, even in Florida & the Keys. I snorkeled at CC, and Andrew snorkeled there and in the Keys, but the Keys were just too chilly. Also, 75 degrees to me isn't hot, so that didn't help! I need 90 degree days and 82 degree waters to feel comfortable! haha

I'll go check out your PTR and try to think of any cruise wisdom we gathered. It went off pretty much without a hitch though and after reading a few TR's I really didn't feel in the dark about anything on the cruise. Some must-dos for when we go again would be to do these things again though: as many nighttime shows as we can, lots of adult time (easier with 3+ and the kids clubs), Palo brunch (next time we are thinking of brunch AND dinner it was SOOOOOOO GOOD), loved the Cozumel excursion so would definitely book another for another port, and lots of ice cream and fun treats during the cruise. Oh, I also picked up 3 drink containers from Target before we left, and we used those daily. We brought water, wine, and other alcohol aboard and enjoyed those throughout the days. Still ordered drinks at dinner but otherwise had our own stuff to enjoy.

I don't think Ralph and Vanellope are there, I think they were replaced by Hero and Baymax, though I believe they are leaving too.

The Mr. Potato head isn't included (though I believe you could put him in the box, but that'd sort of be a waste of space). I actually had purchased a bunch of potato heads and parts on some facebook resale boards for really cheap (or check out craigslist/ebay) so I had all of those already and just used the fill a box thing for the Disney specific potato head stuff.

I'm still getting used to the new DIS, and have no idea what you mean about how easy it is to multi quote and select text lol. I guess I need to play around!
Just select the text you want (highlight) and the a little pop-up will show up that allows you to either add to a multi quote or reply. Pretty cool! If you add to multi-quote, you have to go to the bottom when you're done selecting them and hit "insert quote" and they will come up and allow you to re-arrange, if needed, then reply.

Glad that things worked out overall with the trip - big bummer that Aria and then you got sick though! Also that your Castaway Cay day got washed out. I kinda feel the same as you about Miami - just not really my scene - I did like how walkable it is though

**************

I love Aria's face in the Disney Jr show pictures. I had read some thoughts that the FP+ area put you too close to the stage to really see well but that doesn't look to be the case from your pictures which is good to know (sometimes hard to find 3 FP+ options for kids at DHS)

That's cute that there was another little girl in the row with you at GMR. We had some issues with Olivia and Peter on that ride as well - though mostly with the Alien scene. Glad she bounced back well. It will be interesting to see if they eventually make a major overhaul to that ride now that TCM is sponsoring it (so far they only indicated they are updating the pre- and post- movies)

It seems like no matter how hard one tries there is always some back and forth at DTD

Bummer about the paining Aria picked out and how they were all no good ... good thing you caught that though and hopefully they can return them - I am sure some people didn't notice and got stuck with a messed up one.

The Lego store is so fun and a great place to let the kids out and play for a bit which is nice. Love the Disney sets. The duplo ones are fun - just a note that when Aria gets a little bigger they have really nice ones made with regular legos that are "lego junior" sets. Olivia actually got the one very similar to the duplo set Aria picked with Cinderella's carriage which is pretty cool

Welcome back!! So glad you had a great trip, and were able to avoid weather-related delays -- though I'm sorry to hear about the fever/sickness. Sounds familiar!

We showed up fairly late to the FP area for the Disney Junior show, so maybe the people who were first in line were up front where it is hard to see? But our view was great!

I didn't realize until this time that they had a little area with Duplos to play with, vs the regular legos out front. Thanks for the tip! I hope Aria continues to love legos.

Welcome back!! So glad you had a great trip, and were able to avoid weather-related delays -- though I'm sorry to hear about the fever/sickness. Sounds familiar!

Thank you! Yeah, it does! LOL but we still had a great time.

It was now time to head to dinner! It was downpouring so before heading out I got all the rain gear out and covered the stroller and myself and then ran over to the restaurant. The stroller parking is outside so as quickly as I could I gathered all my purchases (didn’t feel safe leaving them in the stroller), the backpack and Aria and ran inside. There was a HUGE line – first to check in with very angry people milling about because they couldn’t get a walk-up reservation – then from check in to the other podium to get seated. It was a mad house and even more so because I was drenched in a huge poncho carrying about 10 disney bags and Aria wanted to be picked up. Phew! Soon we were given a nice big 4 seater table and were able to relax. We were seated right next to the mommy and baby mammoths too, which was really adorable! Aria got a Dinosaur crown which she actually put on her head for a photo –

And I took some photos around the restaurant

One thing I read that is a must-have here is their cotton candy martinis! So naturally that is the first thing I ordered (along with Aria’s meal and drink). When he brought it out, I snagged a little cotton candy and gave it to Aria to enjoy while he poured the martini inside (I don’t remember which one I got, but it was fruity and delicious). So fun!!

Aria accidentally dropped the cotton candy though and the server ran back to the back room and brought out a cup full for her! SO awesome, what a great start to a wonderful meal!

Speaking of the server, this guy must turn up his charm on every woman to get a bigger tip! He reminded me of Mario from Saved by the Bell? He was super sweet though and a really great server.

Aria’s meal came out quickly – I had ordered the mini corn dogs with a side of broccoli and she really enjoyed these.

While I waited for mine to come out, I gave her a couple little gifts from the purchases I made that day – a giant Pooh bear which she still sleeps with nightly, the Anna/Elsa doll and the Duffy & Mickey ornament.

Then we took some selfies because she was just being super sweet! BTW, Before heading in I was worried that the storms would scare Aria, but thankfully they didn’t. Much like Rainforest every 15 minutes or so, a storm would make all the animals move – near us the Mammoths moved and made some noise. We were right next to the ice room which turned purple which aria loved, so it was overall very cool.

My appetizer arrived – a very exciting mozzarella dish – see the mozzarella on the left of the plate though? SO DELICIOUS. While there is nothing wrong with mozzarella sticks, they kind of dumbed down the delicious mozzarella that is also included – I wish it was just a big dish of that. Just looked up the description - Megalosaurus Mozzarella - Seared Mozzarella with creamy marinara and mozzarella fingers $8.99 but it also had a spicy flavor added that was just so good.

Anyway then for my main dish I ordered the Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli - Walk on the "wild" side with our massive mushroom ravioli simmered in a rich lobster cream sauce with roma tomatoes and fresh spinach

Which was also really delicious!
Not sure why she was being so silly but some photo proof anyway -

I was too stuffed for dessert, but Aria’s came with her meal so she enjoyed a cookie and some ice cream.

What a REALLY fun meal! I am so excited to return in May (hopefully with Dugette & family too!) It wasn’t gourmet by any means, but delicious, great service and just one of those really wonderful memories from the trip.
When we got back to the resort, it was still downpouring so no pool time today, boo! This pic was from one of the 3 million hallways between the car and our room:

Instead we had a really fun evening with some Duffy stories and playing with all her new toys. Not a bad way to end the day!

Up next, another visit to AK, Tusker lunch, then hopping to MK, BoG dinner, MSEP and Wishes! And a nice nap time visit with Dugette!

Looks like you had a fun and delicious meal! That ravioli looks so good! Too bad about the downpours, but it sounds like you had a nice evening anyway.

Looks like a fun meal and the food looks pretty good - especially your app. Always was kinda disappointed in food at Rainforest Cafe (at least for price) but this looks better

Nice of the waiter to bring the extra cotton candy.

We stopped in there but the kids got really freaked out by the giant t-rex at the beginning so probably will be quite a while until we eat there, but good to know there are options.

Ugh, I think that's one of the harder things about traveling solo with a toddler - not having enough arms. And of course they always want to be picked up at the most difficult moments. :headache:

I have never heard of that, but it looks awesome! :thumbsup2 Might have to try one...:scratchin

Awww, glad she was in a great mood! Very cute. :goodvibes (Oh, and her hugging Pooh is adorable!)

BTW, Before heading in I was worried that the storms would scare Aria, but thankfully they didn’t.
I've heard that can be an issue too. Glad Aria handled it well. I'm hopeful that Izzy will be fine too. I'm sure it will help that she LOVES dinosaurs. Heck, if she was big enough to ride Dinosaur, I actually think she'd love it. So, this should be fun for her.

Ooooh, yummy!!! Love cheese. :lovestruc

Sold! :thumbsup2 This was a nice preview, since I haven't read a ton of T-Rex reports, but it sounds great.

And a nice nap time visit with Dugette!
Yay, I'm coming up! :cool1: :rotfl:

Yeah DTD isn't an awful place to be in the downpours, at least we weren't trying to get on some rides.

Yeah RFC food is fairly similar, but I definitely like T-Rex better. Plus the cotton candy martini was really fun! It was SO busy when we were there I don't think Aria had a chance to be nervous!

I can't wait for our dinner there! It will be fun to see Izzy's reaction to all the dinosaurs. I love that she loves them, too!
