My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

Hi Dis!!!

Sorry I have been absent recently, I have been SUPER busy, not only at work but after work as well.

When I left off, I had told everyone that I passed Harambe School and a new "PC" was in my life.

The next day I passed Sue script and did great on my formal assessment. I missed like 5 questions out of a 4 page test :cool1: That night we went out to Ale House to celebrate since it was ladies night. We also went to PI but it was dead so we left.

Wednesday, was my first shadow day. We were in groups of 5 with a manager and we had to do a mock bump schedule with our stations. My group did very well and we all worked great together. After work, Elyse, Meghan and I went to Steak n Shake for dinner and had a hot tub party. Elyse told us that her lease is up in Aug and shes thinking about moving out so Meg and I asked if she would be interested in taking our guest room. In the long run it would save all of us about 100 bucks each since we all pay the same rate so we'll see!!

Thurs was day 2 of shadow group. We did well again. I liked our manager we had on day 1 but we still did a great job I think. It's so weird to not be in a classroom anymore lol. After work, we rushed home and go showers and ready for MK 4th of July fireworks (on the 3rd) and for my "date". Basically the date went well. I give a guy credit for willing to spend time with his date and her 3 bff's. The girls really liked him but I felt not happy but not upset either. I felt well pretty good lol. We had made plans to go see DHS fireworks the next day.

Fri was day 1 of pair rotations and bumps. My partner and I were a good balance. I was talkative and knew directions and she knew animal facts like it was her life (and it might be too?!) We did great and did our bumps perfect and didn't get lost!!! Tomorrow (sun) I will be on my own for the first time :scared1: After work, Jenny and I got Wendys and went home to shower. I left at 7 to meet new PC at DTD when he got off work and we went to BW to watch the fireworks at DHS. That was when I got the bombs dropped on me. Bomb #1. He's 28 and still lives with his parents here in FL. His theory...free rent. So I'm like okay that's strike 1 because I'm 23 and I'm living on my own now and I can't even begin to think living with my parents again full time besides for a month here and there. Bomb #2, his religion. Now my family and I arent super religious people but I know that as a protestant marrying anyone that is not a Catholic, Baptist, or Presby would not be welcomed... I will not say what he is but it begins with an "M" and well ya we'll leave it at that. I have nothing against people that are that religion and I had friends in high school that were but I was raised totally different and plan on raising my children in a similar way. He told me he did not drink bc of that which is is not a huge deal but I just don't want to lead someone on that I know will never work out. After that he dropped me off at DTD and I met Meg, Jenny, and Bryan (a fellow cm of mine) and we went to Motions at PI and watched fireworks at DTD. I got in around 3am this morning with plans of going to Epcot open but well that didn't happen.

Meg, Jenny, and I went to Japan for lunch and rode some rides and left around 5. Now I'm exhausted and I'm ready for bed lol. PC and I had plans to go to dinner and a movie but I declined bc I'm just too tired and drained. As u can tell, I have not been home much!!!! I invited him over which he agreed and then declined so oh well.

I hope everyone had a great 4th. I saw some amazing fireworks..MK's were my fav!!!! DTD was a close 2nd though!!!!

Until Next Time!!!!

...how will my first day of rotation alone go????

Congrats on your work progress...sounds like you're doing great!

Sorry the guy thing didn't work out, but ya gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince! Think of it as a learning experience and you still had an OK time, right?

Sounds like the new job is going great! :woohoo: About PC, maybe he's not PC material, but you know a good friend is hard to find. ;)

Hi Megan. It is great to hear from you. It sounds like you had a really nice 4th of July.

I am excited that your scripts and everything else has gone well for you. CONGRATULATIONS.

Sorry to hear about PC but their are plenty of fish in the sea. You will find the one that is perfect for you sooner or later. Hang in there. :thumbsup2

Thanks again for updating. It is great to hear about your wonderful adventures.

Have a good night. :goodvibes

It sounds like things are going great. The religion thing with PC would definately be a problem for me also. But it's good to find out those kind of things up front before you get serious. Good luck tomorrow.

Hello my name is Whip and Im susbscribing to your thread. You are such an interesting and brave person. I cant wait for more updates.

BTW - You should not feel guilty about not being compatible with someone on a spiritual level - thats an important part of life. Marriage is difficult enough without fundamental differences mucking it up. Good luck to you! Whip

Megan- congrats on successfully getting your scripts all down! sounds like work is going really well so far.

sorry PC#1 seems to be not around. there are lots of other fish in the sea, you are smart, ambitious, pretty etc.....you will definitely find your PC!!! and PC#2, well you just know if it is going to work or not......and like others said, if a spiritual difference is important to you, then that's fine. at least you learned early on and won't waste your time pursuing a romantic relationship if you don't feel it is right for you.

I hope you had a great 4th and hope things are going well. do you know what 'weekends' you have off yet?

oh and the Ale House rocks! we used to hang out there quite a bit.

keep smiling!!!!! :goodvibes :cool1:

LOL about the Mormon thing! I am one, and I have to agree with you that which religion you wish to raise your kids in is a good criteria for picking a companion. Not many think that far ahead. It's actually what I advise my own kids. Nothing wrong with other religions, but there could be contention if you are not on the same page when raising your kids.

Glad your pssing stuff off. Have a nice day!

Congrats on passing your scripts. I can't iminagine having to learn all that stuff. Maybe I'll get to hear you when we are at AK on Aug 4th. Love reading all about your adventure.

HI DIS!!!!

I just wanted to stop by and say hi!! I have been super busy the past few days..all of which I will write about when I'm off work on Thurs and Fri. I have been working really hard on my own now as an intern. I did Sue by myself in front of guests the past few days and it has gone well.

I have also been busy after work with friends (ill comment on that too) and I'm going to MK after work tomorrow so it will be till Thurs until I can fully update.

There has also been some changes at my house and I'll be talking about that as well...

stay tuned!

I like the suspense! Cannot wait to here how things are going with you!

Congrats on the success of your internship...sounds like you are doing a great job!!

Hey Megan, I just found you from your other TR. (I've been away from DIS for awhile) I'm glad things are working out so well for you and I think I can speak for all of us that we are jealous you are having so much fun when you aren't working. We would all love to be able to go to a park most every day.

I know right where you live. We have stayed at a time share a few times on Polynesian Isles Blvd, the street right by the Walmart. Where is there a Target near there? Have you tired the hot Krispy Kreme donuts yet? They are to die for (IMO)

I really respect you for realizing not to date someone that you know you would not have a future with. That is really smart and if more people would be that mature I think the divorce rate would be less.

I can't wait to hear about all of your new adventures. I am sorry my Annual pass is up so I won't get to meet you. Hopefully this will work into a full time position with Disney that will pay more than teaching. I have a friend that left corporate Publix for Disney last summer and he is soooo happy working there. Plus all the perks...

HI DIS!!!!

Sorry I have been absent for the past few days. I told all of you life would get crazy as soon as I got back and started working!!

I'll try and recap the past few days for everyone!!

I left off with the 4th of July and how that all went lol.

The next day (5th) I was off work and soooo happy to be off work. Jenny, Meg, and I had grand plans of getting up to open Epcot well, that never happened of course lol

Meg and I were up around 10ish and decided to leave at 11:15. When we called Jenny she didn't answer so we got ready and went over to her house and of course she was still sleeping lol. That is what PI will do to you when you are out till 3am I guess lol.

Meg and I made our way to Epcot and Jenny joined us later. Meg and I went on Nemo and Figment and got FP's for Soarin. By that point we were ready for our 12:45 lunch ADR at Japan's Teppan Edo. This of course was my 2nd time eating there in the past few months lol. We are attempting to eat at every TS in Epcot. We figure two a month should do it..

We were seated around 1:15 bc Jenny was about 15 mins late (no biggie). The food was amazing as usual and we were all stuffed. I got chicken, Jenny too, and Meg got shirmp.

After lunch we headed over to Norway and Mexico and rode those rides. We went past TT and it was a 60min wait so we said forget it and the next FP wasn't until 7pm. We went and did MS (green) with a 10 min wait and then over to Soarin to use our FP. After that we decided to go home and relax for the rest of the night. We got applebees for dinner and used the hot tub for about 2 hours lol

7/6

This was my first day ALONE!!!!!!!!

We did a real rotation schedule and I was letter M on our rotation (pretty funny eh?? lol) I did great on my rotation and it was a pretty smooth day. I can't recall right now which locations I had but I'm pretty sure throughout the day I was at Africia, Camp, Dino, and TOL KDCs and some animal positions were Gibbons and Macaws.

That night was pretty uneventful. I went home and got dinner out somewhere I'm sure lol. Prolly used the hot tub as well lol.

7/7

2nd day alone for me. This day I was letter O on our rotation. This was also my first day doing Sue!!! I totalllllly messed the first Sue up in front of one of my coordinators. She told me it was not a huge deal and said it was great I was able to pick back up where I left off. I was soooo mad I had messed it up bc I am a perfectionist at something I had known for over a month but oh well. I did the 2nd one fine and the ones since then I was fine as well.

That night Elyse Meg Jenny and I went to DHS to play after work (Meg and Jenny were off). We ate dinner at Pizza Planet. Our goal that night was to ride the big ones: ToT and RnR. We rode Star Tours first and made our way to the other side. We stood in the stand-by line for RnR. It said 45 mins which was pretty true except for the fact that people kept cutting in front ofus to get to family memebers. I really think WDW needs to crack down on that a bit more. That ALWAYS seems to happen on that ride every time!!!

After that we went on TOT and used a FP from earlier. After that we rode it 7x in one hour (during fantasmic) We made friends with the bellhops of course and actually got to ride the "last ride of the nigh" with one of them!!!

That was a magical night for us!

7/8

Pretty uneventful day at work. I was letter A that day. I had "lost parents" towards the end of my day when I was at the Gibbons and the 11 yo made her way from Kali to guest relations before she told anyone she was lost. I guess they lost her on the beach last year 2 miles from where they were :confused3

After work, Katie, Meg and I went to TGIFridays for dinner and Coldstone for ice cream after that. That night we had a hot tub party and just relaxed :)

7/9

Harambe School....

Jenny and I had to do Harambe School yesterday. It went actually very well. She missed up on one line, I did as well but other than that we did fine and our coordinator loved it so well ya thats good :) I was letter F that day on the rotation. Jenny and I spent 2 hours at the Conservation Station KDC and we had almost 400 guests at the KDC in 2 hours!!!!

After work, Jenny and I went to MK to play and Meg met up with us there. We got to ride the "people mover" 3x w/o getting off!! We also rode Buzz and Snow White, CGC, BTM, Splash Mt, and Space. We ate dinner at Columbia Harbour House (my fav) and had some Dole Whips and watched Wishes!!!!

It was a late night and good thing I am off today!!!

Last night though when I got home and got a shower I noticed that down around my ankles (lower calves) was like a huge rash on both legs at the bottom. It is bright red and burned when I got a shower. I have no idea what it is from. I'm assuming its a kind of heat rash????

I was wearing capri pants last night with flip flops so I'm just embarassed at the sight of such bright redness!!! I'm debating if I should head to Centra Care to see what it is???

News about the house before I leave though...

In the past week, we decided to ask Elyse if she wanted to move in the house in Aug when her current lease is up. Everyone agreed of course (although we were worried about Erin but when it's 3 against 1 well ya..lol) We dont know if she will but the offer is there and our rent will go down 80 bucks

We still don't have cable. The homeowners aren't paying their association bills so we don't have cable. They are giving us money back from this month and pro-rating next month so I guess we won't be getting cable any time soon :( We do get about 10 or so basic channels but that's it. Right now I don't have the urge to watch it but it would be nice to have something I'm paying for..

We have also been having issues with the mail and well, not getting what's supposed to be coming. Roomie Katie was expecting a pkg for the past week that "wasnt there" Finally she went down and demanded to sort through the old mail..guess where it was. Jenny was also expecting a package after a week and the office had opened it and her pills that were supposed to be in a sealed container were all over the box...

Needless to say we now have a paid for PO Box at the UPS Store in Celebration. I thought for sure we were in a great place. Now I'm starting to think I was wrong..and asking Erin to live with us as well. The past few days have been..well you know what with her. First of all she says she has a "friend" coming in Sept. We said thats fine but he/she will have to stay with u or the couch if Elyse moves in..well she didn't like that answer and says before she agrees to have someone move in she wants to discuss some things....too bad she already agreed to it right in front of Meg and I...

She also claims that she shouldn't have to park in a neighbors drive-way when she works till 4am. Katie also works till 4am at times and we all think its totally bogus that she can't walk 10 steps to our door from a neighbors driveway when we all take turns not parking in our own (first come first served). Anyways..we're all pretty much fed up with a 23 yr old who is acting like an 18 yr old. We gave her the master room and arent asking more money for it and it's just getting to the point where I'm ready to talk to Elyse and have the 4 of us look for another townhouse and just leave lol. I guess my judgement in character was wayyyyy off with this one...

Well sorry for the rants but thats the past few days. I'm off today and tomorrow (yay!) Amanda is coming on the 24th. We decided to spend one night at the house and then we're heading to POP for 3 nights with a DDP...it was a steal with all of my discounts :) That way she can use DME to fly home on the 28th. I need suggestions for non-park ADRs. We're eating at LTT on the 27th but I need 2 more now. Ohanas is out bc I have been there 2x in the past few months...anything else I'm open to that is one credit.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

it's some weird thing that comes from the light, pavement and heat. A combo of calamine and benadryl can clear it up. I'm very prone to it.

Ditto what Hedy said about the rash. The standard response I get from the nurses at first aid is that it's "broken capillaries that are close to the skin from the heat reflecting off the pavement" They tell me it's b/c I have "poor circulation", but I'm not so sure about that one...I use benadryl spray b/c mine is very painful and itchy.
