Sorry the job isn't working out as much as you had hoped, and too bad you seem stuck with Disney. Do you think if you go seasonal, in another few years when there have been more FGMIT's, they'd let you try for manager?

Hi Megan,

Good to see you back posting As in most jobs things go up and down but working for Disney sounds a lot of fun.

Have been looking out for you round Coral Cay (we arrived last week) so drop by and see us if you are about. We seem to be getting quite a few TV channels so may have a few tips for you Not surprised you cannot fit 4 or 5 cars at your home - you would need a massive 4 or 5 bedroom villa to accommodate 5 cars and even then you could have problems. We previously have stayed on Indian Creek and Highlands Reserve and there is only spaces for 2 cars there too. No postal service to those areas either (no post boxes) due to the high proportion of short term rental properties. I know that the office on Coral Cay take mail deliveries for the private residential homes - perhaps it is different for longer term renting, hence your problems. At least you get your own hot-tub which you wouldn't have in Disney digs

Glad to see you back! Sorry all's not going as well as you'd hoped, but it still sounds like you're managing to enjoy yourself much of the time

Your 'head of Animal Programs' sure wasn't very encouraging!! Things change often, so just because there might not be any full-time Education roles right this moment doesn't mean there may not be openings sometime in the future. Keep checking into that (maybe with a different person though! ) Also, what about an Advanced Internship? You should be eligible to apply for one of those.

Hope all goes well with your family's situation ~ It's great they have some trips planned to visit you! Hope you're able to update us again soon.

I gather from this latest post that you hope to stay in FL when your internship is up. Is it easier to get your teaching credentials here than in PA? I was in PA last week and it sure is beautiful; quite a contrast to FL.

hey everyone!! i wanted to pop in and say hi. Yes i have been very busy and stressed. We are trying to sort out this cable/internet issue with brighthouse services. We finally have cable but do not have internet unless I plug into it with the ethernet. For some reason it is not picking up the wireless which worked before our internet was shut off so I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do next Brighthouse will not hook up the wireless for us as they offer their own wireless plan I guess

I'll try and update soon though!

Nice to hear from you Megan. I am sorry the PI at AK is not all that you thought it would be, but good for you for sticking it out. It is a shame that your options will be limited once the PI is over. Hopefully you can teach though.

HI DIS!!!

Oh boy do I have stories to tell!!!

Let's see where should I start. Well, I guess I should explain reason #1 why I have been absent.

About a month ago, I recieved some sort of computer virus through email I'm guessing. I got home from work on a Tues and went to check email and my password was changed and once I got it changed, I had found all my emails were deleted I then went on facebook to find that password had been changed as well and not only was that changed but all of my info was starting to become erased. After changing passwords for days and them changing w/o me doing it, I finally gave up and had a friend from work check my PC out. He was able to remove some viruses that were found. I had thought my PC was still protected bc of school but not being on a secured network at Coral Cay and it turns out ALL of my virus scanners were out of date After another 3 weeks, I finally gave in and my computer was taken to Geek Squad at Best Buy last week. $200 later and my computer is now fixed and totally restored...without microsoft office which I'm sad about because I have NO idea where my cd would be to load it back on My dad claims I have it but I would know where I put such an important product so we'll see.

Needless to say the virus wiped out my yahoo email, facebook, and myspace. I have created a new facebook so if you want to search for me, look for Megan Ashley on the Orlando, FL network and if you cant search, PM me for my email. All three of those sites have been deactivated. Disboards ended up being fine..thank goodness!!!!!



Other news:

Work...

Work has been eh? Kinda miserable the past few days with the tropical storm which still is around and is still raining. No TL for me today! We had 3 girls that quit last weekend which has been putting crunch on my Core-Team and managers. We are opening up 3 TA positions to fill their spots so that will be good. I'm also switching my days off to Sunday Monday in 2 weeks. That will be good bc Jenny is off Sun/Mon and Meghan is off Mon/Tues so I'll be able to do things that I normally wouldn't be able to do bc those girls aren't off those days!!!



House....

House has been going through major changes. Elyse moved in last week! I got a call last Wed on my way home from work and she said she was ready, I laughed and said I'd be over in a 1/2 hour to help her. She is alllll moved in and is loving it!

I had a break-through with Erin, things are okay but were not okay when we would find our doors unlocked, cig butts outside by the hot tub, etc. Things have been going well so I'm pleased for now lol.

Our cable/internet issue has been pretty much resolved. We were able to contact Brighthouse to get our own cable/internet. We currently have cable, dvr, internet, and wireless. At some point my wireless must have died so we just got theirs bc they can always come to fix it and it was only $9 bucks extra a month. For some reason Elyse still can't get online..maybe because her computer wasnt there for the tech guy to set up when he was here? and she wants cable in her room. I simply told her if she wants it, she'll hafta be the one to pay for it and take care of it. I'm done with dealing with all the electronic issues lol.


Amanda's Visit...

Amanda's visit last month was really really fun!!! We went to BB, TL, and all 4 parks on her last day here. Basically the DDP was amazing for us and I really wish as a CM you were able to always get the DDP and your room discount, even if you had to pay full price for it or buy the deluxe one. We saved soooo much money and always had full tummies. Our photopass pics were soooo cute too. They expire next week, I'm debating just getting the CD.


My Fam....

My mom is coming to visit in 2 weeks!!!!! I was able to get POP for about 45 bucks a night which leaves for lots of fun! We're going to be going to MVSHP on the 5th and that is pretty much all we have planned. I was thinking about maybe taking her to see Cirque or going to GF spa with afternoon tea at GF. I'll probably do one of those and there will also be shopping at DTD (without my dad rushing us! lol) and she'll want to go see my house and the surrounding area. Since my days off will switch I'll be able to pick her up from the airport and drop her off too!!!

Any suggestions for non park restuarants? I narrowed my choices down to GF cafe, Cape May, Fultons, Cap n' Jacks, Yachtsman Steakhouse and either Ohana or WCC for a breakfast. We won't be on the ddp bc of the free dining promotion so we'll pay out of pocket. She'll only be here for 3 full days so we're thinking a breakfast on fri, and a non expensive sit down and then an expensive one maybe?





Well, I think that's about it for now. Lots have been going on!! I have been trying to cross some things off of my list. I'm going to try and go parasailing before the 15th of sept bc that is when our discount ends. We also get 50% off segways so I'm going to try and cross that off too!!! As far as epcot dining goes, we have been to England, Morocco, Japan, Germany, Norway, and Mexico!!! Starting on the 23rd our dining discount will be taken away till the end of sept bc of free dining so I'm not sure we'll get another crossed off before then so we'll have to wait!

Ack! Sorry to hear about your computer. I had issues with mine a couple of years ago. It totally crashed, and I almost lost many of my pictures (I was just able to get them off the old hard drive recently).

Ok I am all caught up on your report so far....I was having flashbacks to my own CP experience in 2002 with your ID issues! Not nearly as frustrating as yours, but I did have to wait a week when I got down there before they would give me an ID. I couldn't go to any of the parks and I had no car, so I got to know DTD very well that week

One of my favorite anecdotes about Traditions was from a guy I worked with at Epcot. He showed up for his Traditions class and didn't realize that they don't allow men to have long hair. They told him he couldn't take the class and would have to get a haircut. And couldn't come back to take it for a week, during which time he would not get an ID or get a paycheck! He ran to the receptionist desk, borrowed her scissors, and chopped his hair off right there. They let him into the class

Your house looks so nice...I lived at Vista Way and our apartment was nice (better than anything I lived in at college!) but it must be really nice to have your own room instead of those tiny rooms with the two little cots! And your job sounds so much fun...I'm sorry to hear you don't love it but at least it's only for a few more months!

Have a great time at WDW this season - I was a CP from Sept to Jan and it was so awesome because I got to be there for the Food & Wine Festival and all the holiday stuff....so fun!
