My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

Hey Dis...

Have you ever had one of those days where you say to yourself, "it can't get any worse." I had one of those days so far today.

We got up at 7:30 to leave at 8:30 for check-in at night at PI. I had a dream that I missed check-in so I felt accomplished that I made it haha.

We got in line and were the first group let in and we were given folders. My status with the company is "active" bc of my CP so I didn't have to do anything except go to Access Control for my ID. About 45 of us headed over there to get our IDs.


When we got there there was a very rude CM that baracaded (sp?) the door and wouldn't let us in and said come back on Sunday bc that is when their work week begins. My roomie Erin who is still a CP asked about herself and he told us NO ONE. He answered our questions very rude tone (we will now report him) and basically turned us away without any answered questions.

The PIs that have to do traditions will go tomorrow and get their new IDs and we have to wait until Sunday. They claim it is because of the work week but you get paid for traditions so we're not sure where they are coming from with that logic. We asked if we could retake traditions to get our IDs and they told us NO. After leaving acess control, we drove back to PI to speak to someone and one of the managers told us there is really nothing they can do and she was really sorry and we felt misled and had to drive out of our way for a No answer and couldn't get any answers.

She suggested going to Casting to talk to the CP people so we headed there and they looked it up in the system and it was still active so we drove back to access control and they updated Erins ID bc she is still a CP until Sun but since my program ended I can't get my new on until Sunday. The 2nd man was nicer but it is still frustrating that people tomorrow will get to go and we can't (I can't lol.) I even askef if I picked up BBB shifts and the man told me nope, not till Sunday.

Tonight at 5:45 Meghan and I have meetings with our AK managers so I will have to see if I can get my ID tomorrow or ask how I'm supposed to walk back stage at AK w/o an ID. Soooo much not needed drama


Then we get home and we're having lunch and roomie Erin is unpacking some things and pulls out her lunch box for work and I was like..oh, I wonder where my Vera Bradley one is...

After a 1/2 hour of searching and not remember seeing it while unpacking the other day, I can't find it..at all.

I know it made it home when I cleaned my locker out in May but I'm not sure what happened to it in my apt. I always kept it on the counter so I find it hard to believe I would have just left it there but I can't think of where it has gone. I also had stuff from work that was in my locker that was in a bin so that made it in but not my lunch bag..I may have thrown it away

Needless to say it has been one of those Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Days...

We finally have our internet working but forgot some of the password so 3 of us sat here and tried to figure it out and did after 20 mins.

I'm ready for a vacation already haha.

Anyways so tonight we have this meeting. Meghan and I might use Erins Cirque Du Solei discount and go see that tonight (if the show is late enough).

Tomorrow Erin and I might go to TL (they have EMH and we have annual passes)

I'll be getting my work schedule tonight so I'll post later on. I'm going to load my pics on photobucket so I can load them on here later.

But still, I know how hard it can be to wait for access into the parks. I have been here since the 1st with no ID... But it's just a day... you'll get one on Sunday and all will be well!

Hi Dis!!!!

You might be looking at my timestamp and wondering why is she up so early?!

I have no excuse for it besides the fact that it is FL. When I am at home in crappy, cold, boring, PA...I'll sleep in till 11 or so. In FL, it is like built into my system that I have to be up early to not waste such beautiful days!

So I'm up. I heard roomie meg leave for Traditions at 7am...*yuckie!*

Okay so last night.

When I left you, I had told you about my not so hot day. You're right, if that is considered a "bad" day, that is pathetic...I guess I was just upset with the fact that we were told about a dozen different stories and the fact that I was sent from point A to B to C to D to E to everywhere and gas isnt really cheap these days....oh well.

So after we got home and settled. Meg, Erin, and I decided to go explore the pool for the first time. I LOVE having roomies that LOVE the pool. In my CP apt, out of 6, only 3 of us liked a pool: myself, elyse the lifeguard, and jen but she was never around. I love the fact that these 2 girls are willing to just sit and relax for hours!!!

We went to the pool. The pool was warm which was great. The hot tub on the other hand was about a degree warmer than the pool. Needless to say we just sat in the hot tub for a 1/2 hour bc there were kids playin Marco-Polo all over the pool but we didn't mind!!!

We then went back to our house and Meg and I sat in our own hot tub and we got to meet the hot tub guys to check chemicals and clean (they were very nice!). I'm glad to actually see they do clean it lol.

We were leaving for our meeting at Mickeys Retreat at 5. We get in the car and pull into Mickeys and it STORMS. Typical FL afternoon/evening storm. The lightning was right over us so we sat in the car as long as we could. We ran inside and were soaked but dried pretty quickly.

We then had our mtg w/our AK/AKL leaders. We got our training schedules and met our trainers (the people from allllll the emails we got!!!!!....like a celebrity!) We did an ice breaker. Someone was given the ball. They said where they were from and what college u went to. If you were from that state you stood up and then passed the ball and so on...

After that we broke into our groups according to role. There are about..um.. I didn't count but I'll say 15 to 20. Only myself and another girl are returning CMs so I guess we'll be showing them the ropes?! We got our training schedules and basically this week I'm working 8-5 every day and I'm off today, Tues, Wed, and next Sun.

Now...my ID issue. I told my leader about it and she pretty much said that she would get us access for the gate but we can't really be backstage w/o an ID for that long of time (even with a group) so she would call the other girl and myself to see what to do. She told us that we might hafta go get it during our hour lunch tomorrow which I was like okay not the end of the world but I'd rather another solution. When our groups ended, I waited for Meg but in the meantime, met Jenny..a girl from Dis/Facebook that I had met right before I came for my PI. She's living where I am so we hung out like all night and I'll be working with her!!!

When Meg came out, she told me that the manager inside said we were getting our IDs tomorrow so I went in and waited my turn and she told me shes calling every person she knows to make 100% sure I'm in the system for tomorrow. I even said on the screen it says the 22nd shes like no we're changing it now. So..today I have to go back to Access Control to get my ID...HOPEFULLY. She was very nice and said if they give me any BS to call her right away and she'll deal with them on the phone lol.

When we left, Meg, Erin, Jenny, and I took a drive to Disney University to see where the girls go today for Trad. We had dinner at ChickFilA on the way there.

When we got back there was a party across the way and we stopped in but they don't seem like our type of people we'd normally hang out with so we stayed for an hour to be polite and then left. Erin and I took a dip in the hot tub and I got a shower and went to bed!!!!


We decided not to go to Cirque with the hopes that I will get my ID tonight and we can go this week. Our discount ends on the 28th and the show does not run on Sun or Mon so we might go on Tues or Wed.

I'm going to check and see if my pics loaded on photobucket and if they did, I'll load them now!

You can't actually get the juice but they have the ice cream in a machine. They have just the pineapple, pineapple and van. and just van. It ended up being like $2.50 with our discount and you can fill it as high and as much as you want! I had the mixed and I loved it! I normally get the van ice cream and the juice so it tasted the same pretty much.

You ID story reminds me of something that happened to my husband and I about ten years ago. He was working at The Disney Store and we were at WDW on vacation. We realized that he had forgotten his ID card which meant no discounts. Fortunately the hotel (Disney Institute) still gave us the 50% off rate. We called guest relations who put us in contact with someone else who told us to go to the trailer near MK where they issue the ID's. We spent some time at the MK and they asked a CM how to get in the utilidors. We must have looked official (not) and he showed us exactly how to get down. Once in the utilidors we went to the castmember bus stop and rode the bus to Team Disney and the ID trailer. We waited our turn inside the trailer and they looked at us like we had three heads when we told them why we were there. Needless to see we were not issued a temp idea like we were told on the phone.

When we left there wasn't another bus in sight so we decided to walk back to MK. About half way there we were stopped by a security guard who asked us what we were doing. He said we couldn't walk around and called for an escort. The escort was going to take us back to MK but we told them we were on our way back to the resort so they gave us a ride.

Later that night we went to EPCOT. We realized when we were going in that we never had our hands stamped at MK, because we never went through the exit. We still joke about the castmember who let us in EPCOT. We started to tell him about why are hands were stamped and we told him about being escorted out by security. He stopped us and said he didn't want to hear of our troubles and let us in!

Needless to say my title speaks for myself.

With WDW...the third times not a charm

I got up this morning and had a good feeling about all of this and my day of yesterday would be suddenly erased with feelings of happiness and wonderfulness!!!!

...i was wrong.

I got up at 7:30ish and got a shower and headed out the door. I had some stuff to return at Sams and to stop at Target to get some things. I then decided to drive down 192 and time it out to see how long it would take for me to get to AK. As I'm driving, I get a call from my manager and she told me she just spoke with Access Control and everything was set and they just got off the phone.

So I headed that way and went inside. I was called over by the man who we had yesterday (not the mean one baracaded the door). I was like hi I'm back Nadine just spoke to someone and said everything was set to go. He looks it up in the computer...it STILL says the 22nd. So he's like get me Nadine's number so he calls her and hes like it says the 22nd and then the man put her on hold and asks the the girl and mean guy who spoke to Nadine and the girl was like I did, in the computer it says the 21st (same screen as recruiting looked at). The guys is like NOOOOO..her CP ended they should have never carried everything over. So the mean guy spoke up and said ya thats my fault too, I told her it was fine so the man got on the phone and explained to my manager the situation and said BUT we'll give her the ID and hung up.

He then was like, well one more thing I need to see..goes to another screen...

I HAVE NO END DATE IN THE COMPUTER NOW!!!!!!!!

He was like I can't give you the ID, you have no end date. He called my manager AGAIN and said I can't get my ID. So at this point I'm like ready to scream and cry and so before I leave I ask him and said even though it says I can get it tomorrow, I really can't until they have and end date in there and he said yes.

Needless to say, recruting may be getting a phone call from me. Basically, had the man looked that part up yesterday and told me it wasnt there, I could have called recruting to have them add it since they are closed on weekends but now I might have to wait until Tues to get my ID

THANKFULLY, I'm still allowed to go to training Sun and Mon w/o my ID.

I went to my car and called my mom crying saying I'm sick of wasting gas to drive to this place to keep being denied. I then called my manager back and told her pretty much the same thing and she assured me that I will not be sent back there until I have an end date for sure. The man told me it might be because my program hasn't started yet and it might kick in tomorrow...but I doubt it, I think it was overlooked.


...so my day has not started off so magical. Had I known this 2 hours ago, I would have gone to the water park but now it looks like storms are coming so I guess I would be foolish to go.


.....HOPEFULLY I have better news come Mon or Tues..if not..I'm going to bust!!

Good lord...this is absolutely ridiculous with your id issues. I can't believe there are so many problems. Unfortunately your the one left holding the bag here. If it makes you feel any better, I straightened out my resort stay 3 times. Ricardo keeps showing up as my name. CM's tell me they fix it and when I call back to check a few days later, Ricardo's name is still there. I'm calling next week to check again. It will be the 4th time.

Wow that is a bummer about the ID. I suppose in a company as large as Disney, there are bound to be some occasional issues. I'm sorry this time it's happening to you. At least you know they are very strict about following the security guidelines!
