My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

Whew.....I"m all caught up. Love your report!!! I hope you get your ID. Thank you for doing this report. I think it's the perfect Disney fix that I needed right now!!!

I'm a teacher...first grade....laughed when I read that you were having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.....(I wasn't laughing about your bad day...just how you used that expression.)

I hope things are looking up REALLY fast! I will PM you about your facebook. I read that after I originally posted.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you had ID issues. I am not really fond of Access Control myself. Hopefully it all gets worked out soon.

Hi Dis!!!!

Well as you have read, the past 24 hours have not been very magical for me :(

Just when you think you are on top, you get knocked down and I hate that!!

Anyways, I can at least say that my night has proven to be eventful.

Remember that list that I posted a while back of things I wanted to do...

well...I was able to cross the first thing off...

You know you have wonderful friends when they are willing to wait a day to go to a park even though they have their ID..to spend time with me since I don't have an ID.

Roomie Meghan and I decided to go to see Cirque Du Solei tonight. I looked online prior to going and saw there were not very many tickets for the show but we had high hopes. We were able to get tix for the 6pm show. They were 2 seats on either side of a couple so we asked if they would switch us so we could sit together and they did!!!

We were in section 105 in row E..pretty much 4 rows back from the stage and on the side but right there in the action. The only view we didn't have was when they were on the swing bars but the net was over us so it was cool to see it that way as well.

The show was AMAZING. Expensive but Amazing. With Meg's cast discount we were able to get 50% off making out tickets around $45 for section 2. We took advantage of our first taste of Disney POPCORN and POP and got the family deal: 2 buckets of the souv. popcorn and 2 souv cups of pop for $18 we thought that was a great deal!

My fav part..I have like a bunch but I loved the little girls, the red flying rope things, the trampolines at the end, and the swing bars. The group was amazing and it was worth every penny. Had I gone w/o the discount, probably not so I took advantage of a great thing!!

After the show we walked down through Westside, PI, and Marketplace and made our way to RFC for hopefully a late dinner. We overheard a two hour wait which is what the ADR phone told us as well. We got up to the podium and were told 15 mins for 2:cool1: Out of all the tables near to us we had the best and quickest server so we got very lucky!!!

I had the Passport to Paradise Pizza and Meg had the crabcake sandwhich..both were yummy!!

When we were done we walked back to the car and drove home.

Tomorrow starts our first day of training. I heard from my manager that we're taking a busy to the Seas at Epcot but meeting at AK. So I'm sure I'll have loads to discuss and pics from tonight as well. I bet mostly everyone will be at a park tomorrow: Katie starts work, Meg has her ID and will go, Erin has her ID as well and anyone that had to wait till tomorrow will have their ID too. I'm planning on relaxing and hopefully watching the Gymnastics at 8 if our cable works with NBC.

I guess bad days can turn out to be great ones. It really seemed to be my night that is for sure..I couldn't have asked for a better roommate who was willing to wait a day to go to the park to spend the time with me!!!!

..until tomorrow...

Stay Tuned!!!

My first day of training as an Intern!!!

Hi Megan.

I am so glad that you got to see Cirque Du Soleil. We saw it in 2004 and 2005 and just loved it. Our favorite parts were the little girls as well. I personally loved the red silk as well. Such a great show.

I am sorry about the problem with your id and hope you can get that resolved soon. I can't imagine being down at Disney World and not being able to go the parks. Hopefully that will change for you really soon.

Thank you for posting the pictures of your apartment. They are really nice.

I hope you have a good day and can't wait to hear about your trip to Epcot Seas.

:goodvibes

Great TR, Megan!
I haven't posted since near the beginning of your CP TR. Just wanted to let you know I am now caught up with both and really enjoying it!:thumbsup2

I think it is neat to be able to just "hop" over to DTD and shop or have dinner.

I would have loved to have done the CP when I was in college. Now I am telling anyone I know who have children or relatives in college that they need to apply.

My DD is 10 and she says she can't wait to go to college so she can work at Disney:)

Add us (DH, myself, DD-10 and DS-who will be 8) to the list for Dec visitors. We will be there Dec 6-13.

Hope you get your ID and the training goes well:goodvibes
Amy

Yay! New photos!

I really want to see La Nouba at some point. I saw some excerpts on the Travel Channel and it made me want to see it....especially the red silk things.

Love the pictures Megan! Glad to hear the show was good. Good luck with training!

:cool1:

Alright well...here it is...

What you have allllll been waiting for....

My first day as an AK Intern.

Lets see, where should I begin....

I got up at 6:15am today and got ready and ate breakfast before I left. I never eat breakfast like that. When I was a CP, I popped something in the toaster and ate on my way to work. If I can sleep in 15 mins and eat on the way that is a no brainer. Plus, I'm not the type that needs 15 mins to wake up, when I'm up, I'm up.

Meg and I headed out the door at 7am. If I forgot to mention where my roomies are working, I guess now would be a good time to mention that. Meg is conservation ed coordinator at AKL. She will be incharge of the safari guides in the hotel (reps from Africa who develop programs for guests) I also appied for this one but it was last on my list. I would rather have guest interaction. Erin is guest relations at MK. Katie is full time at Sunset Market Ranch at DHS but is in a music group sponsered by disney and they are touring in the orlando area doing concerts.

Anyways, we left at 7am and stopped by Jennys house to pick her up since she is an ed presenter like me. All 3 of us made our way to AK cast parking. We drove up 192 straight into WDW and got there in 15 mins. We were 45 mins early but better early than late.

When it was 8am, we were given nametags. We can't use our WDW ones bc if we are stopped by a guest, we can't take the time to answer questions that those who are working can take care of. And also because we want to be "hidden" cast I guess??

We got on a bus then and were taken to Epcot. We got a 20min Behind the Seeds tour at the Land (I thought we would ride Soarin' lol) We then go to go in the Seas and see the dolphin and diving tanks which I saw on the Dolphins in Depth tour last May.

After 2 hours of that we got back on the bus and went back to AK. We were taken backstage and taken to a classroom. Most had safety training but I was taken to the hotest computer lab in the world to do some computer training. I had a migraine as a result for the rest of the day :( At noon we had lunch...free fajitas, rice, cookies, and coke products. The food was yummy but I think I ate too fast lol. After that we had training for different infections you can get from animals and the 3 hour long Basics class (which I took as a CP and really didn't want to sit through it again). After the basics class which infact took 3 hours we were led back outside and to the train at Conservation Station. We got on the train and then were led to the unloading of Safari. We got on the Safari trucks (2) and were able to go on the Safari w/o waiting in line :cool1: We got the VIP safari tour with a manager leading it. Our group then was asked from the manager if we wanted to go again with the audio like the regular ride so we got to ride it again :cool1:

It rained the whole time but it was still fun!!!!!! When we got off the ride our group was gathered with our tour guides and we were all given a free fast pass for Everest :cool1: At that point it had begun to rain hard so needless to say we were able to stay int he park and I was able to stay in the park bc they did not make us re-enter the park with our IDs :cool1: That sure made up for the past 2 days!!! Myself, Meg, Jenny, and a new friend of ours went to Dinosaur and rode it...and had about a 15 min wait...not bad w/the rain outside!! We then went to Flame Tree BBQ and had dinner. I had chicken, Meg too, Heather had the pork sand, and Jenny had the turkey sand. By the time we were done the weather was gone and we made our way to EE. We got on in 5 mins w/our FP and rode it again stand-by and it was 10 min wait.

We then headed home. Meg and I were sooo excited to go in the hot tub tonight but when we got home, we opened the door and the hot tub had been unlocked and we opened it up to find a cloudy hot tub and STRONG smelling chlorine. The hot tub men came on Fri afternoon but we used it fri night and it was fine but not yesterday or this afternoon. We went it in it anyways and it was burning our nose and throat so we got out. I read online to leave the cover off to let the sun burn some of it off but if not we'll be calling the office bc we use the hot tub almost every day and it has become a must for us!!!!

Any advice..let me know!!!

Tomorrow is our AK walk-thru tour. It is a 4 hour walking tour and then we'll have lunch in the AK cafe backstage and then will go to costuming. The leader said she will have to main-gate me tomorrow so I'm hoping I'll either get a paper park hopper to use for the day or will have time to go get my ID after costuming. And if not, I guess I'll just come home and relax....hopefully be be able to use the hot tub and maybe do some laundry and get my ID on Tues morning.

Thanks for reading!!!

Sounds like a good day (outside of the rain). Hopefully you can get the ID situation resolved.

Woooohooooo! Awesome pics! Glad you were able to cross Cirque off your must-do list! :cool1: Sounds like you had a pretty good first day on the job (minus the migraine and rain). Hope the hot tub issues resolve...wish I could help you out on that one. I'm jealous-I could sure use a hot tub right now! Have fun! :goodvibes
