We are going to BCV in August. We stayed there two years ago but thought we would try to switch to BWV.

The other day I was looking at pictures of BWV on WDW site and he was sitting with me. I showed him the pool and he said, "I don't like that". Later he told my DH that the "Clown Pool is scary".

I feel bad and I do not want to freak him out so I do not think we will switch. He is still little and we will be swimming alot, especially in August.

I know this is wierd but are any of your kids afraid of the Clown Pool.

Sharon

I'd stay with BCV. The first time I saw pictures of BWV clown slide my first thoughts were "if I were a kid that slide would scare me"(LOL). I've never seen it in person so I could be wrong. Why take a chance. Maybe go visit BWV pool while at the BCV and see what reaction your son has, if he's okay with it next time book BWV. Susan

I was laughing when I read your post. We pool hopped there this August, and since then have affectionately referred to it as the "scary clown pool." My kids are older (14, 11, 8), and themselves weren't scared, but we did think it had that kind of look to it. We also found the slide hurt alot when we went down it.

Many have posted here that they (and/or their kids) find the clown slide scary. It doesn't bother us, but that's not relevant here.

What is relevant is that your little one doesn't like the pool. So I would see no reason to subject him to it.

Of course, it gets stickier if your other boys love the BWV pool. Fortunately, you'll have SAB and not too many kids complain about that! :D

I have to tell you , when I first saw pictures of the BWV pool, I thought it was slightly scary also, But, my kids (6 and 3 at the time) LOVED IT!! They thought it was the BEST pool at WDW and we've been to SAB twice!! They weren't scared in the least bit from it, and after I saw it in person, realized it is definately not scary, more whimisical.

I am scared of clowns and that pool horrifies me! :earseek:

That whole area should be razed and redone IMO

I call it the Stephen King "It" pool!!

LOL!! I am rather surprised that Disney designed the pool with a huge clown face since there are not only a lot of kids but adults who are afraid of clowns. My daughter who was 6 at the time loved the pool, but she doesn't have a fear of clowns. However, I do remember a small child running out excited to get in the pool and started screaming when she looked up and saw that clown face. The family ended up leaving and going to the other pool. I agree with pooh pal, stay at BCV but walk over to BWV's and see how his reaction is to the pool when he sees the kids sliding down and having fun.
Good luck!

My 5 yr old DD enjoys the Luna Park but won't go down the slide there. She says she's a little scared of clowns, but clearly not enough to keep her out of the pool. She uses the slide at VB, and other pool slides, just not the scary clown slide. Go figure.

The first time my boys saw the clown pool we were staying a BC and went to look at the Christmas decorations at BWI. We walked outside so the kids could see the clown pool. It was very cold and no one was in it. My boys LOVED it so much they were begging to switch resorts so they could swim in it. When we explained that was not possible we promised to stay there next trip. When we were planning to buy DVC 1 1/2 years later both boys begged for BWV because of the pool. So much for Storm Along Bay, they wanted that clown slide! :D

I am 36 years old and it scare the heck out of me. I hate clowns and so does Kramer from Seinfeld. Don't know why but I can't stop thinking of the killer clown in Steven King's "IT". You're 2 &1/2 year old is right on the money. LOL :earboy2:
Cheers

My kids LOVE that pool/slide! We hopped there last June and even my (then) 3yo went down it about 25 times.

 You guys are craking me up. I did not want to put in my origninal post, but it kinda scares me too. I am glad I am not the only one.

We will definetly go to see the "Scary Clown Pool" in person when we are at BCV. Maybe it will be different in person (probably not though).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and comments.

Oh Great!

Now when we stay there this May, all I'm gonna think about is "IT"!LOL

Geez, DD used to be afraid of Clowns, I wonder about now!LOL We'll soon find out!

Every child is different!

We thought my DGS would be scared of it - as he at 7 is scared of a lot of things - we showed him the photos and he loved it!

My recommendation would be to stay at BCV and pool hop over to BWV. You may have him over in the kiddie pool anyway, with just a glimpse of the slide, at least he could be near the slide and you will see his reaction and be able to judge from there if staying there would be OK.

I would think that if you avoid it, he would continue to be afraid of it, so introducing it to him slowly might help him get over his fears better than forcing him into it.

JMHO. Good luck!
