Okay, so I'm thinking of trying to book SSR (brand new purchase!) for 12/25/2004 - 1/1/2005. I know that the Christmas Party will be over by then. What kind of special things are going on after Christmas and what is New Year's Eve like if you don't go to PI?

What is the Candlelight Procession?

Is there any other kind of parade the week after Christmas?

And are there any different kind of show?

There's still plenty to do and see! We were there Dec. 29 through Jan. 7 at the end of '01. Christmas stuff was ending, but we managed to see the Candlelight Processional, Mickey's Christmas parade, the Osborne family lights at MGM (should be back next year), and the holiday storytellers at Epcot. Plus, all of the decorations are still up. One of our favorites was the arch of lights when entering World Showcase in Epcot. The lights were coordinated with the music playing. Diana

Dee, I should have answered the rest of your question. We spent New Year's Eve at Epcot. All of the parks, except AK, have NYE parties. MK is the most crowded, and usually closes to any more guests in the morning. Epcot had lots of entertainment and street dance parties, plus a special fireworks show at midnight. I know MGM had bands too.

Congrats on your DVC purchase! You have many years of fun to look forward to! Diana

Don't fret that MVMCP is "over" before you get there..............there is a very good reason for that! You should actually be happy. When doing MVMCP you have to pay extra money to see what it is you will be able to see during regular park hours during Christmas week. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade (including snow on Main Street during the parade) and all the Christmas shows become part of the regularly scheduled entertainment after the last MVMCP and that is why it ends. The only things you won't get that MVMCP has would be the special MVMCP fireworks, the photo, and the free cookies and hot cocoa.................but at least you don't have to shell out all the extra $$$$ for the party.

Make sure you see the Candlelight Processional. IMHO this is the best show that can be found at WDW. The CP is a telling of the Christmas story utilizing celebrity narrators, a 50 piece orchestra, and a mass choir. It combines biblical verse with traditional and favorite Christmas hymns and carols. The telling of the story is extremely moving and the music is incredible. Not to be missed. You can also do a Candlelight Processional dinner package. There are different tiers for the different World Showcase restaurants, but it includes dinner (appetizer, entree, dessert, drink) and guaranteed preferred seating for the show. If you would be eating in a nice restaurant anyway you end up saving a few $$$ on the meal and you get the preferred seating. I highly recommend it.

So there is still a Christmas Parade - with snow - after Christmas Day? And the CP is in Epcot? Where? I know I ask lots of questions...hahaha...I need to take notes!

CP is in the American Gardens theater right across from the American Pavilion. From what I've read, there is "snow" and the offical Christmas parade too! :)

Are you as excited as I? :) :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks for the detailed post Disneykidds!
