I'm here now and the weather is pretty yucky. We got rained out of Fantasmic last night and I'm afraid today and tonight will be much of the same. Should I brave the elements or try to switch the nights? How soon do I have to go ask to switch? Any info would be great! I just don't know what to do!!
Thanks,
Kimba
By the way other then the weather we are having a BLAST. My kids even talked me on to Rock and Roller coaster!!!

WEll the party will go on even if it rains. If you already have your tickets you cannot trade them for another night, unless you want to waste the ones youve already paid for and pay again for another night.

That's not completely true. We were there a couple of years ago and had tickets for MVMCP. The night of our tickets is rained and rained and rained. All of the parades and outside shows were cancelled. The fireworks went off but nothing else. They did allow people to trade their tickets for another night, which meant that the next two parties sold out. They probably won't do this unless they cancel the shows and parades. We ended up back at WL with hot cocoa sitting in front of the fire.

If it is awful at about party time, go to the guest services window and inquire. You may also check at your resort, if on property, and ask if they are doing anything because of the weather. They are not required to do anything because it states on the tickets that there are no rainchecks or refunds. But, it doesn't hurt to ask, nicely!

Continue to enjoy your trip! Wish we were there even with the rain!!! :cold:

While this is true, don't count on it. Not at all in fact. They try to avoid doing this at all costs, and even if the parades do not go, they still will likely not switch nights.

In inquired about this same thing for MNSSHP the night before Wilma hit. They told me flat out that there are no changes and no refunds. The lady was very very nice and told me to reconsider buying them early in the day. She told me that it was not sold out and that I should wait until later in the evening to see what the weather does because, if I buy them, they're as good as done.

I think the only time they will move it is if the night following it is not full or close to full yet. However, it seems this year that things are pretty busy, so I wouldn't count on it to be honest.

Actually, we were at MNSSHP on 10/23, the night before Wilma. We were there for about 40 minutes before the skies opened up. They just kept opening and opening. We were so wet. The candy stations were closing, because they aren't really sheltered. We decided to bail; I mean water was running off of us. Of course, we were at the end of the trail from Toontown to Space, about as far as possible from the turnstiles. I led the entourage towards the exit and Dmom and I decided to head for City Hall. They had already announced that the parade was canceled.

There were about 10 people on line at City Hall. The line got longer by the minute. We waited for a good 20 minutes and then were helped. Everyone was being offered exchange tickets for any date that week or to mail their tickets in for a full refund. The CM who helped us said that once the parade is cancelled for weather, they will exchange.

I wouldn't rely on a weather-based exchange, as it's a pretty risky strategy and this weather was truly extreme. But it does happen. Showers, light, steady rain, cold, etc., I think you'd be out of luck. But, an hour of endless driving, wind-blown rain certainly kicked in the exchange or refund policy. We were thrilled! Didn't expect to get an exchange, but we did and had a fabulous time on the 27th.

I would agree with this. Notice that most people that talk about refunds or exchanges are talking about HEAVY/EXTREME downpours for a long time.

Nasty rain likely wont get it done.

I remember the night that Wilma hit. The night before it hit, we were about to see Fantasmic, and noticed that is JUST started to "sprinkle" a little, so to avoid a possible downpour, my wife said we were leaving (against my wishes at the time).

We got near the car and a downpour like I've never seen came and went for a good hour or more, never really stopping all night.

At that point, I realized wilma was coming in. Of course the whole reason were were there was to evacuate Naples, so all I was concerned with was my home town.

We are going to MVMCP tonight as well. Looking at the weather it seems that the front is moving on through and there is now a chance of scattered showers this evening. It doesn't look like it will be as bad as it was this morning.

We were at MVMCP one year and it rained so hard for hours you couldn't walk with out the water splashing in your shoes. We didn't have a dryer that year and I remember us sitting up with the hair dryer trying to dry out our shoes.

We'll keep the hopeful thinking going that tonight will turn out to be fine. A quick shower here and there won't be a big deal. Enjoy your time. We are taking it easy the first part of the day so that we can enjoy the late night.

You are right. It looks as if this is just a very strong cold front coming through. While the temps have been very mild, the temps on the back side of the front will put the lows in the 40's, which is great christmas weather. I think it's so wet because the difference in temps on the back side of the front.

They must have really cracked down. A few years ago (I think it was 02), we had tickets for MVMCP on a Tuesday and wanted to switch it to Sunday. I went to City Hall and asked for a switch. I was told as long as the party wasn't sold out, I could switch my tickets. I also did this to aviod rain (which we did, the Tuesday party got rained out). The only night that were sold out during our trip was the Friday. I did hear that some of the parties were sold out closer to Christmas.

I guess with the crazy weather the past few years, they have started to get stricter with the policy. After that year, I swore we'd buy the tickets after we got down there, when we knew what the weather was like. I also started doing this with Sea World. We bought our tickets in advance to save money, but almost couldn't use them on that trip. Now I just look for a coupon and get them at the gate.

we are also in disney this week--- so we waited to look at the weather report when we arrived to pick a day-- so we went on sunday-- and had a blast--- we were also told that the tickets were non refundable--- so i suggest not buying the tickets too far in advance.

but i think you are in luck--- i'm looking out our all star movies room and the sun is shinning
