I'm getting a little nervous reading posts about MVMCP crowds. We're going on December 16th. Would it help to also book the Terrace Dessert party to see the fireworks or is that a waste of money (having already spent the $ of course on the MVMCP tix)? Thanks!

You do not need to book the Dessert Party to see the fireworks. Just find a nice spot around the hub to watch the fireworks. Friday parties can be busy because a lot of locals tend to go on Friday's. If possible I would suggest that you go to a Tuesday or Thursday party.

I would absolutely not spend the time away from the party nor the extra money on a hard ticket night.

We have been to the fireworks party four times and enjoy it but do it away from party nights. We were at the sold out Halloween Party and stepped into our spot in front of the Hub (not right in front of the Castle but back a bit to see all the fireworks) 5 minutes before the fireworks started last Monday night.

We attended the MNSHP last year and the icing on the "cake" was the private dessert party. Don't know how many in your party, but being able to sit and watch the fireworks was priceless. We certainly enjoyed all the desserts too! All of the restaurants at Disney are pricey so in comparison, I thought the dessert party was a fair value. I especially liked feeling like a VIP by not having to scramble to watch the fireworks, so for me it was well worth it. We are returning this year, and plan to do the dessert party during the MVMCP . We arrive by 4:00 pm and stay till Midnight, so getting a nice sit down break around 8:30 works for us. We also don't so a sit down dinner, but do a quick CS meal instead. If you have never done the party, I'd recommend you give it a try and decide for yourself.

We're doing the dessert party and MVMCP on the 30th. I had been trying to get ressies for the dessert party since we booked our trip and when some finally opened up, I jumped on it. We had not planned to attend MVMCP but when I realized that we had to have the party ticket to attend the dessert party, we said what the heck. We've never been to WDW during the Christmas season before and we've never attended either of the parties. We don't get down there as often as we'd like to we went for it and I'm excited for both. Lot of extra money? Sure. But it may be 2+ years until we get back.:yay:

We are doing the Dessert party on our MVMCP night too. My sons are 18 and 21, and don't care that much for the parade, or character meet & greets, so we're treating it as a "break", and there will be time for more rides afterwards. We will be arriving around 3:30, and having an early dinner (4:00) dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. We are doing the MVMCP mainly (hopefully) for the atmosphere, crowd control (Sunday), plus it will be the latest any of the parks will be open that week. I can't wait, the desserts look great!!!

I personally wouldn't do the dessert party on a MVMCP night. The time in the park for the party flies by. Even if it wasn't more money, I wouldn't want to waste valuable party time with the amount of time it takes to do the dessert party.

IMHO the fireworks do not look as good from the side view as they do from the middle of the hub or Main st. If you are in front of the castle everything looks like it's right over the top of the castle. Off to the side like that, I thought the fireworks looked like they were off to one side and not over the castle.

If you WANT the desserts, DO IT. If your main concern is good view for fireworks, DON'T. We went on Halloween night. We went by Casey's about 15 minutes before start. NOT BUSY AT ALL THERE. GREAT VIEW. And some friends who were also there happened to read that was a great spot too and just by happenstance we were in the same spot! Yes, totally recommend the walkway by Casey's!

It's all about personal priorities! :goodvibes I have bad knees, so I'll be needing about an hour break....and me and my family much rather spend 40 minutes noshing on some yummy food and having a personal viewing area for the fireworks than standing in line for an hour to meet Duffy or some other characters.

I can understand though, those with small children wanting to meet the special characters they don't normally see.

Can't wait to see the snow on Main Street and the special Castle lights!!!:banana::banana:
