MVMCP Sunday after Thanksgiving?

My very first post! I've been reading these boards for years and LOVE the information you all give me. I have a question though that I don't see anyone else has asked. This is our 8th trip to Disney, but it's the first (and probably only) time we're going to see the Christmas decor and events. We'll be there 11/25-12/3. We definitely want to do the MVMCP, but are trying to figure out what night to go. Our current itinerary puts it on Sunday 11/28, which is Thanksgiving Day weekend. We hadn't planned to go to any parks until Monday when the crowds drop, but I am wondering just how crowded the party will be that Sunday night? I'm hoping that everyone there for the week of Thanksgiving has already gone to the party and/or will be packing/resting to head home! Has anyone gone on this night before? How were the crowd levels? (I'm also aware that Disney can change the schedule and hours on me and this night might not even be available, but I'm going with it for the time being).

Thank you for your help!:santa:

I've done it that night. You're right. By Sunday night, a lot of people who were there for the Thanksgiving weekend have gone home. However, since it is a weekend night, locals may come out. It's a good choice, but mid-week may be better.
As far as crowd levels, all I can say is every year it gets more crowded for MVMCP. Disney used to limit the number of tickets sold, now it's just another cash cow to be milked.

Thank you for the reply!:goodvibes

I am trying to plan ADRs, park hours and events for two families of four. Each of the four adults has something they want to do and it's difficult to get it all in with the shortened hours in Nov/Dec. We'll also have 2 five-year-olds and 2 one-year-olds to consider. I didn't think about the locals coming in for the weekend. I might have to rearrange my mid-week plans. :scared:

I was trying to not go to a park on Sunday, but maybe it won't be so bad if everyone is heading home. Touringplans.com has Sunday still at a 10 for crowd level. :sad2:

We were at MVMCP the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year and it was still pretty busy. They don't have MVMCP during Thanksgiving week, so alot of people stay until the Monday after Thanksgiving to be able to go. If I were you I'd wait till mid-week to go to MVMCP.

Thank you so much!

That is exactly what I was wanting to know. Looks like I need to go start re-working my mid-week plans.
