MVMCP a tip or two

:surfweb: planning planning planning

I can't wait - this will be my first Christmas at WDW - going to the party 12/14 just got back from our October MNSSHP vacation and decided that I just had to do Christmas too!!! Thanks for all the helpful tips :santa:

DVC Discount dates added for MVMCP:

11/10, 11/11, 11/14, 11/16, 11/20, 11/21, 12/04, 12/07, 12/09 & 12/16

I'd be pretty mad if I were a DVC member and already bought tickets for one of these nights.

Ooooh! I just said to DH that I need to order our tickets for 11/16 and we are DVC - where did you find this info? I can't find it on any of the other sites. Thanks!!
Looks like those nights must be selling slower than they expected.

Beware!
We went to one of the DVC nights last year. IT was sold out - Grid lock on Main St. We began calling it Mickey's Very Greedy Christmas.
We are giving it one more try this year. Any good tips on how to avoid the crazy crowds would be appreciated.

Those discounted nights must be slow sellers. Those first few parties are only a few days away. Better for us that are attending them I guess.
11/16 party, can't wait!!!

BUMMER!!! We are going on 12/7...looks like there will be an even BIGGER crowd now. That sucks!!!

DVCers...I hear that Disney is redoing their dates and 12/7 isn't one of them...just kidding :lmao: The more the merrier...Tis the Season, right???

So they're discounting 10 of the 18 party dates...is Disney finally realizing that increasing the prices each year and allowing more tickets to be sold per night is just a noose around their neck?! ;)

No fear Disney, some of us (my family included :rolleyes1 ) will still pay the high prices for a crowded party...

If you can not stay for the whole party (my kids fell asleep in their stroller before the end!) definitely forget about the rides. Enjoy all the "other" stuff at MVMCP.

That's what we do. We skip the rides (for the mostpart) and focus on the parade, fireworks, characters dressed in holiday clothing...we go to the party the night before we fly back home so it's a fun way to experience the MK after we've already been there several times throughout the week.

I am planning on getting to the park at 4PM. I was thinking of getting the pics with Mickie and Minnie out of the way....does anyone know if they will be in thier xmas outfits before 7:00?

Thanks!

I don't think any party activities start before 7pm, so I wouldn't be surprised if the characters don't dress for it before 7.

We ate at LTT at 5pm the night of a party (which we attended) and the characters had Christmas themed aprons on, but that's it.

I was thinking the same thing. I would rather get pics with them then riding the rides between 4 and 7. Does anyone know if they are dressed early?

Can we bring in small coffee thermos (car sized a la Starbucks) and then put our hot cocoa in it? We were just thinking if there aren't lids on the cups, that might be difficult for walking...what have others done or is this a huge no-no? Thanks!!!

Last year there were lids on the hot cocoa cups. I don't know why it would matter if you brought the other cups to use, if you wanted. We didn't walk around with ours. We grabbed our hot cocoa and found a seat to watch the fireworks. :cloud9:

To add a little tip, if at all possible, don't wait until the last Celebrate the Season show of the night. I have been to 6 parties, and the last show has been cancelled two of those times due to condensation on the stage. Unfortunately, I waited until the last show both times and was not able to see it.

i have ADRs for Whispering Canyon Cafe at 5:40 the night we're going to the party (which was the earliest ressie i could get anywhere at or near MK for this hastily arranged trip), but after reading this thread i'm thinking of just doing counter-service. i don't think i want to miss the castle-lighting ceremony or any other party events. we're staying at the YC and arriving that day as well. maybe we should just hit Beaches & Cream at 3:30 and then head on over? or maybe just head to WL early and eat counter service at Roarking Fork (is this actual counter service or pre-packaged foods like you would get at a convenience store?)? we've never been to WL before and wanted to see it (i head it's one of the best resorts in terms of holiday decorations. plus, i just booked it for a trip next may, this time with kids!), and this might be my only chance to go there for this trip. thoughts?

I would totally do your Beaches & Cream at 3:30 plan! That sounds perfect and then you can head directly to MK afterwards (party goers can get in any time after 4). Won't you have time to go see the Wilderness Lodge another day? BTW, Roaring Forks is nowhere as good as Beaches & Cream!!

i'm not sure if i'll have another chance. it's actually a business trip :)
we fly into MCO around 1:00 that afternoon, so by the time DME brings us to the resort and we check into YC....yeah, i'm thinking Beaches & Cream may be the way to go. we have Annual Passes, though, so maybe sneaking in before 4pm if possible and just eating counter service inside the park might be a little less hassle-y?

Well, depends how hungry you are and how busy MK is! I'd definitely eat at B&C if it was up to me! ;) You can get some counter service later at MK (the party's does go till midnight! LOL!)
