MVMCP a tip or two

Someone stated earlier in the thread that the parade starts in Frontierland. Was that the case last year? When we went in 2005, the parade started on Main Street.

My tip for the party is that you make sure that you are where you want to be before the park closes at 6:00 to day guests. That may sound confusing, but let my explain. Our plan was to see the first showing of "Mickey's Twas the Night..." at 7:00. Unfortunately, we were in Frontierland at park closing, and the CM's were not letting any park guests leave that area. They were herding all the day guests (no bracelets) out toward the main exit. But they were holding party guests in Frontierland/Liberty Square. (I learned later the same was true in Tomorrowland). If we had known this we would have made a point of being in Tomorrowland (or at least in the Main Street) area before park closing, and would have been able to get in line for the first showing. Since we were stuck in Frontierland, we were not able to get into the first showing and this threw our entire schedule off. It wasn't a major problem, but for the planner in me, it created some stress.

Good Tip!! Thanks!:santa:

Actually, this is outdated advice.

THe MK no longer closes at 6:00pm on party nights to "hold" partygoers" in a particular land until 7:00pm. This changed in 2006. Now the day guests are allowed to stay in the park until 7:00pm when the parties start. Non party guests are hearded towards the exit by CM's, and those with tickets are allowed to stay for the party.

I remember that as I was there that year too. It was only the case that year though and it was because of the construction at the Train Station and all the walls that were put up and so they had to reverse the parade route direction.

We were there also in 2005, Dec 9 in fact, and the parade did start in Frontierland. Maybe it was a fluke?

My BF and I went in Dec. 2005. We had such a blast! We did miss our kids a bit, but the fun definitely out weighed the guilt.;)

DH and I are going on a long weekend trip and catching MVMCP for the 1st time. Looking at all the beautiful photos of the castle lit, I was just feeling REALLY guilty that the kids won't be with us on this trip. :guilty: I hope you're right and the fun outweighs it for me, too!

Thanks for the updated information. I knew things had been changing in various ways, so this is good information to have. More current is always better! Thanks again.

No problem. I'll be at the Nov. 14th party so I'll post back if anything changes this year, although I don't expect the "clearing out" procedures will change because that's how they are for MNSSHP right now.

I have read before that you can get in to the park @ 4 with your ticket for the party. Is this still true? This is my first party and the ticket clearly says 7-12. I was going to spend some time in the morning at AK, take a nap then head to MK for the party @7 but if we can get in earlier at 4, we could just start our part time them...comments?

Yes, you can enter the MK at 4pm although the actual party events won't start until 7pm. Have fun!

I am attending my first xmas party 12/14. Has anyone gone in mid Dec before? Was it super crowded? Also, the snow on mainstreet, does it snow the entire night during the party?

I haven't been in mid December so I can't comment on the crowds at that time, but I can tell you it did NOT snow the entire time on Main Street. We never saw it "snow" during the party, so they must do it only at certain times.

Thanks for the quick reply! Bummer...as much as I want my kids to see it, I don't want to waste time by periodically checking to see if its snowing.

It usually snows during the parades and usually right at 7:00p. some say it snowed all night but I've only seen it snow during the parade and at 7:00p.

To be honest, we were only on Main Street around 6:30pm and again when we left (we finished watching the second parade in front of the train station on our way out), and it wasn't snowing either of those times. But it likely snows during the first parade if I read that correctly...hope that helps!

They are two locations where there is a DJ and music with characters to dance with kids and adults who think they are kids. Usually a great time for kids, My two loved it.

What characters are usually at the dance parties? Since there are 2 locations are there specific characters at each one (ex. Ariels Grotto - is Ariel and the princesses there)?

Also has anyone ever been to the very last showing 11:15pm of Twas the Night before Christmas? Was it crowded? That is the show we are thinking of going to.

DVC Discount dates added for MVMCP:

11/10, 11/11, 11/14, 11/16, 11/20, 11/21, 12/04, 12/07, 12/09 & 12/16

I'd be pretty mad if I were a DVC member and already bought tickets for one of these nights.

It has been a few years for us, but I remember at ariel's grotto Chip and dale goofy and pluto were there and I am not sure who was at the other party. Ariel and the princesses were not at any from what I remember, but they do change things up and it has been 3 years since we went.
