MVMCP a tip or two

We are going Dec 4th to MVMCP with no children. We have ressies at Crystal Palace for Character Breakfast at 9:20. We are several adults going. We were going to have breakfast, ride all the rides we wanted and take our time for the party to start that afternoon. So that way we would just enjoy the festivities. We will probably leave earlier, before the big crowd leaves. Is this a bad plan.?:confused3 I see where everyone isn't coming until later but I'm assuming that is because of small children and letting them rest during the day for the big night. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Your plan sounds like a good one. For a group of adults, staying at the park all day is really not that big of a deal. Make sure you take it easy and don't kill yourselves during the day and you will be fine.

Many folks will be getting in with party tickets only and they can enter at 4:00pm.

Others that arrive closer to party time have small children and want to make sure they are rested up so they can make it through the party with no major meltdowns.

Sleeping Becca. Thanks so much for the supportive advice. I feel better about my decision. I've never been to this event and we are all looking forward to it. :worship:

A couple questions:
1 - I see on the map that there are several character spots. Are there dance parties in each of these areas or just a couple?

2 - How long is Belle's enchanted Storytelling?
Can I go to the 7:15 storytelling and still see the 7:45 Celebrate the
Season's Show?
Or should I go early to stake a close spot for the 7:45 Celebrate the
Season's show and make the 8:10 Belle's storytime?

I am just so confused:confused:
Thanks for any info.

If that doesn't give you goosebumps I don't know what will!!

Great link to You Tube to watch it in action as well. Thanks!

I'm going to my 1st MVMCP on 12/4 - just got my ticket TODAY! This is a trip with a GF - no kids - and we're as excited as 5-year olds to go to MVMCP!!

My BF and I went in Dec. 2005. We had such a blast! We did miss our kids a bit, but the fun definitely out weighed the guilt.;)

We are arriving on 12/11 and I was thinking of doing MVMCP that night. But, I'm wondering if I should wait until 12/12 since 12/11 is our travel day. The 12th is a Friday - is it typically busier then? Do you think it might be okay to wait and just buy tickets once we get there? HELP!!

I would say it depends on what time you are arriving and how tired you are from traveling. I am personally too tired to do a late party on a travel day (we leave early am to arrive early). This is a really great party so you want to be in good shape to see it all. Of course it will be more crowded on Friday night so that is something to consider in your decision.

I have heard that these sell out so you probably want to work that out soon especially if you end up on a Friday night in December (is that Pop Warner week? I'm not sure).

We are going Nov 11th - 2nd night of the party!

This thread is great. We are going to the party on Nov. 10 and 14. Anyone else?

We will be there on Nov 10th. I can't wait!!! I need to finish reading this thread before trying to plan out our evening. Since we are going the 1st evening of MVMCP we are going to have to wait until we get there to plan our night won't we?

Earlier in this thread is a link to last years party info.

It doesn't seem to change much from year to year so I think I'd use that to put together a basic plan that you can adjust if you need to once you arrive.

I see that there are 2 places for Character dance parties- Cosmic Rays and Ariels Grotto. Which characters are at each of the locations? Do they stay the same? Are the dance parties all evening?

Oh another question... how long does the Castle Lighting last? we have ressi's at LTT at 5:45pm. Would I be able to see it from outside of LTT? Would it be okay to be a couple mins late checking in to see the lighting of the castle?

I've gone through the entire thread and have not seen this mentioned.

The special MVMCP merchandise and pins are on sale only during the party I know. However from past experience, can you tell me what time it went on sale?
Was it at 4 PM or not until 7PM?

Not till 7:00p. All party festivities begin at 7:00p.

I realize that Disney is in business to make money. I realize that there is a lot of profit on pins. What makes me not so merry about the MVMCP pins is that the edition size of the pins have been blown up to LE 4000 this year, which is up from LE 2000 from recent years, including 2007.

In 2001, the pins were LE 2500 and cost $8.50
In 2002, the pins were LE 2500 and cost $8.50
In 2003, the pins were LE 2500 and cost $10.50 (I bought lots of these!)
In 2004, the pins were LE 2000 and cost $12.50
In 2005, the pins were LE 2000 and cost $10.95 (I bought lots of these!)
In 2006, the pins were LE 2000 and cost $10.95
In 2007, the pins were LE 2000 and cost $12.95
In 2008, the pins are LE 4000 and cost $12.95

Same price as last year and only half as rare. :headache:

I am very much a collector and I dabble at trading. But, this just ticks me off to no end that they are jacking the prices up like this and cutting the trade or collectible value of the pins. There are LE 250's on Disneyshopping.com that cost the same as these LE 4000 pins are going to cost!

I have looked at the pins and found none of them to be worth spending my hard earned money on. This pains me to say, because I had $200 set aside for MVMCP pins.

The jumbo this year is an LE 750, they priced it at $45, which isn't that horrible. The last couple of years, it was an LE 1500 and cost $25 in 2006 and $35 in 2007. We usually do buy the event jumbos, I am still not sold on the design yet. I will have to see it in person.

To look at the pins that are coming out, you can check them out on Disney's site at http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/eventPins?id=40279 and the purchasing details can be seen on Disney's site at http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/event?id=40279

Of course, Dizpins also has them listed at http://www.dizpins.com/pinventory/wdw_mvmcp_2008.htm

Is anyone else kind of bummed that the MVMCP pins are being devoided of value, but still have the high pricetags?

Is there a different pin each night or just a set of pins for all of the nights?

The details are not very clear on that just yet. However, with the MNSSHP's this year, they released a pin at the beginning of every week of the parties, usually on Sunday. The leftover pins, from previous weeks, were still available for purchase also, but at a different location than the standard release point retailers. There are fewer designs this year, but way more of them.

OK, that makes sense. I went to MNSSHP in 2006 and then it was a different pin every night.

Yeah me too and it was nice to have pins that were low editions and had some character to them. These pins look totally uninspired even though they are to mark the 25th Anniversary of MVMCP's. I expected something with a little more "WoW" factor, a lower edition, and a less insane price structure.

Wow, an absolute awesome thread. I didn't even think that much about pre planning for MVMCP. Glad I read this thread so I could plan out the night and try not to miss anything. Now my biggest problem is trying to figure out which TS meal to change to an earlier time so that we can see the castle lighting ceremony. Right now we have WS Cafe 5:15 & LTT 5:35 on two non MVMCP nights and Kona on MVMCP night at 5:20.
