mvmcp 2006 tips only

I will be attending MVMCP on Dec 11th. 1st time at WDW during the Christmas holidays. We are also doing the 5:15 Candlelight Processional on the same day with a late lunch package as we wanted to see Steven Curtis Chapman. Do you think that will be too much all in one day? It will just be me and my DH. I also figure that the best way to get to MK from Epcot after CP will be the monorail does that sound right?

It certainly sounds doable, especially for two adults without kids. We relax on MVMCP day, and shop or rent boats. Something outside the parks.

Just be sure you know that you COULD enter MK at 4 pm with just your MVMCP ticket. By doing the 5:15 CP (which is great, BTW) you won't hit MVMCP until maybe 7. Not being critical at all. Just don't want you to underestimate the exhaustion and time elements involved in your plan.

I know there are a ton of us who are VERY excited about Mvmcp and I know that a good many of those are experiencing it for the first time this year! I hope nobody minds, but I'd like to start a thread on Tips and Strategies on how to go about doing Mvmcp.
Some things that we might want to include:
What to bring with you/Things you buy for Mvmcp
What to wear
Where to eat
Special things to do
Timing
I'm sure there is more, but let's make this all about tips! Ok? Have fun!
My tip to bring cotton gloves to wear if it is cold.

I am so glad I found this site. We will be at the Party the 13th of Nov. Do you think it will be chilly at that time? I've never been there at that time of the year.. Reading this site makes me so very excited, I can't wait for all of the festivities... I don't think I will have time to do everything.

It probably won't be chilly to you since you are from MASS......but now us southerner's......it will seem chilly. From all the things I have read, historically, it is in the 60's, but could always dip lower.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.. You are right 60's is not all that chilly to us New Englanders.. but I guess we won't even notice the temps when were having fun with Mickey and his friends. Plus they say it snows on Main Street so we will be used to that.... :thumbsup2

We will also be at the party that evening.....can't wait. I think we are going to rent a locker because we plan on being at MK all day then attending the party in the evening. With a locker, I can put out jackets in it and get them if needed. Don't want to carry those around all day. :wave2: we will see you at the party!!!

This will be my (as well as DH & DB's) first trip to Disney in December :cool1:

The only advice I can offer is to purchase "Hot Hands". I've spent my entire life in the South and have experienced MANY cold nights (mostly marching band competitions), and I LOVE Hot Hands. You can get them cheap in the hunting section of your local WalMart. On really cold nights you can put 1 small pack in each glove- I hate it when my hands get cold!

That's my tip :)

Now... if only my ticker would start to move faster... :hourglass

Does anyone think it is too late to get tickets for the 12/7 MVMCP? I really want to go while I am there but haven't gotten my tix yet

Ok I am new to the boards and I am trying really hard to understand all the abbreviations. What is CP? Is there somewhere I can view all the abbrev.? What restaurants are open just prior to mvmcp? I assume I need a ressie? Thanks!

CP is Candlelight Processional at EPCOT. If you would like, I can e-mail you a nice sized list of the abbreviations. Every now and then I get stumped on some of them! :goodvibes

PS: Welcome to the Dis Board! :wave2:

Subscribing as well. This is our first year going. We'll be there on Nov. 17. I'm going to attempt to make princess santa-style hats for my girls and maybe a Minnie one for me...maybe Grumpy for DH since he just doesn't understand the obsession. :rotfl:
:thumbsup2 Eva

I don't think you should have a problem, as I don't think that will be one of the nights to really sell out. But I will call today and order your ticket over the phone( it will save you time and worry~ plus you will save a little bit of money too). My mom and I will be at the party that night, so maybe will see you there!

I know this has been asked and answered before but I can't find the post...

For the MVMCP...my understanding is that you can pick up bracelets sometime around 4 or 4:30...then what happens? I read somewhere that guests are 'herded' to TomorrowLand while the non-attendees are let out of the park around 6:00. What happens if you have reservations for dinner at Tony's?

Hopefully someone who attends the first week will help out others attending later by posting when they get home.

thanks!

The park no longer closes to be cleared out. The park officially closes at 7:00p and the party begins at 7:00p as well. There is no longer any herding either.

They start giving out wristbands at the turnstyles at 4:00p so if you enter after 4:00p, you will get your wristband at the gate. If you entered before 4:00p then you can just find a CM around the park (we saw them near the Castle) and exchange your tickets for wristbands.

There is no need to leave the park and re-enter. If you eat at Tony's you can get your wristband right before or right after dinner.

I had the same trouble at first and another kind DISer dropped me this link. It should help you decipher most everything you can't figure out by the context clues!

I will call 2morrow!!! Thanks for the advice, hopefully I will see you there!!! I will be the one in shorts and a tee shirt since it will be alot warmer in Disney than it will be at home!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'll be there the 5th and can't wait!! I went to MNSSHP this year and really enjoyed it.
Does anyone know what kind of fun Christmas hats they sell in the parks? And what are the limited souvies offered? I'm assuming there are t-shirts and sweatshirts.

32 days left!!

Your very welcome! My mom and I will be wearing matching long sleeve (red) shirts, that I made. And we are going to buy a Minnie Mouse Santa hat & I am thinking on getting the Stitch Santa hat for me. Let me know if you get your tickets.
