mvmcp 2006 tips only

Ok, I am really torn on this one, and I hope some input from you folks will help me make up my mind.

Our reservations are for Nov. 9 -16. Had not originally planned on MVMCP; we had no idea it would be starting on the 13th until yesterday.

That day is early entry for Animal Kingdom, so we were thinking of using that for a better chance of catching the animals awake. We have never been to WDW before and have no idea how much time to alot to AK. (Just my husband and I.) If it is a very full day, I'm not sure I want to add MVMCP on top of it. (Ideally would like to go back to the resort and rest before heading into MK.)

So here are my questions -

First: Is this really worth the extra park admission on top of the park-hoppers we already have? Realistically this is a one-shot deal for us; we are not likely to spring the money for WDW again. Does the snow on Main Street look anything like snow? (We're a little cynical after witnessing some sparse "snow" bubbles at the end of the fireworks last year at Disneyland. )

Second: Does it even make sense to use early entry at AK on that day? This is mere theory on my part, based on the behavior of animals at parks in Southern California.

Third: Is the 13th a school holiday out there for Veteran's Day? That might make bigger crowds for both AK and MVMCP.

Fourth: Is there any chance that AK might actually have bigger crowds anyway because of early entry? If that seems likely, we might schedule AK for another part of the week, which would mean we could plan a more leisurely day around MVMCP on the 13th.

I know I have to decide ASAP because these tickets are disappearing fast. Thanks for your opinions!

I think it's worth it through my research. It's one of those experiences- the snow on main street, the special parades and shows. Who knows how long it will be till you get back at that time of the year.

I wouldn't advise going to AK during extra magic hours. Extra magic hours usually = very large crowds. If it's only two adults that's fine because you can go there for an hour or two before crowds build up then go back to the hotel and relax for the party, but if you have kids it isn't that simple.

I hope you decide to go!

I was also very surprised to see MVMCP on the 13th. We are going. We are also planning on spending a relaxing day at MK. We have ADR's at Crystal Palace at 3:50. That was the lastest time they had available!! If you plan on going check on ADR's. They are going fast.

Our holiday for veteran's day in Alabama is only Friday the 10th.

Hope to see you there!!

Thanks for the input. We did go ahead and purchase tickets for the Nov. 13th party.

But after all that, now someone is saying that it isn't necessary to attend the party in order to see Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade, or snow on Main Street, because they schedule those on regular days in the park! Is this true? I checked the WDW calendar very carefully for Nov. 10th through the 15th, and only the regular parades are listed. :confused3

How long will it take, to get from MGM to MK? I wanted to see Osbourne Festival of Lights for opening night and then head over to MNSSHP. Is this doable?

Charleyann  :woohoo:

It is my understanding that they will not show the parade during regular hours until after the last MVMCP has been held. I think this year that is only a few days before Christmas. You would have no opportunities to see the snow and parade in November beyond the party. Have a great time! We will be there on the 17th!

We are hoping to go to the party on Nov 17 BUT we are flying in on flight passes and can't book our tickets until Nov 14th. Does anyone know if tickets are available the night of the party so to speak?

Reading this thread has me super excited, thanks to everyone!!

I was going to ask if they sell anything special during the party. This is my first time going. What type of things are party-specific and are they in any particular store or in all of the stores?

I like to purchase coffee mugs. They are my favorite souvie---every day I drink my coffee out of mugs from different trips, and it starts my day off great! Anyway, I bough the LAST coffee mug at the MS Emporium last year. I wanted two, and the CM I asked said they don't restock during the evening. They would restock for the following night's party.

They are only at certain stores. This year, I'm buying my mug early---it was stressful late at night haggling for a coffee cup!!

What kind of mug was it? Ceramic or travel?

It's a ceramic mug. I use DL 50th and DCL travel mugs!!! Told you I love coffee cups!

The '04 is better than the '05 MVMCP edition. The '05 one looks like an ornament, and there is only a little area to drink out of, if you can imagine what I mean. I use it mostly for sipping tea out of a straw---otherwise there's too good a chance of it being a dribble cup!!! :lmao:

Only 40 more days to go for me. Everything about the event sounds great. Its my first time attending.

I'll be there on the 5th and I can not wait! It will be my first time and I am looking forward to getting my MVMCP sweatshirt and enjoying all shows.

18 Days until my first MVMCP!!!! :Pinkbounc

I have 16 days until I leave for DW :cloud9:

Only seven more days of work (I only work three days a week!) party:

Unless I missed it somewhere, I don't think I saw it mentioned - are Photopass photographers at the party? And...am I silly? I bought the red/white holiday sweaters from Disney for the 3 of us to wear when we go to MVMCP...it'll be our first time (12/5)...do others do this? I would love a really nice "holiday" picture of DH, DS and I as we are usually alone on Christmas and I'm always the one BEHIND the camera!

Edited: One more question...do you get your picture taken at any land and if you choose, can you get more than one taken in different places and buy them?

I am curious to see what the pictures look like that they take. Anybody care to post theirs? Also someone earlier mentioned the special event merchandise is at the "EXPO"? where is that located or where exactly can you buy the pins and other merchandise?

I will be attending MVMCP on Dec 11th. 1st time at WDW during the Christmas holidays. We are also doing the 5:15 Candlelight Processional on the same day with a late lunch package as we wanted to see Steven Curtis Chapman. Do you think that will be too much all in one day? It will just be me and my DH. I also figure that the best way to get to MK from Epcot after CP will be the monorail does that sound right?

Thanks for all the great tips. I am getting so excited for our Thanksgiving at the park. :cool1:

We will be partying on November 30th. There will be 14 of us. We have reservation for LTT. I can't wait.

Subscribing.

DLR purist headed to WDW for the first time!! And MVMCP on 11/28 I cannot wait.

Love this thread. Thanks!

We went last year, and DD has food allergies. We called in advance to see about dairy free cookies/hot chocolate, but they were unavailable last year. She still had a blast. We're going again on Nov 13th.
