mvmcp 2006 tips only

We are looking forward to our 3rd MVMCP this year---the first time without the kids!!

If you want MVMCP merchandise, buy it early! They ran out of things last year, and don't re-stock during the evening.

Consider taking the day off. We sleep in, shop, rent boats, etc., on the MVMCP day. That way, we are good to go all night long! I wholeheartedly agree about going to the 2nd parade, and hitting Fantasyland the last hour.

Those of you going to the earlier dates---get a great character photo taken of the family and use it for your Christmas cards!

Biggest tip: Go at 4 pm to maximize your time and investment!

Can't wait!!! The wooden soldiers in the parade make me cry like a baby!!

I just bought 6 tix to the last night (Friday, Dec. 22). The CM said that night was almost sold out.

One of my kids has multiple food allergies (including wheat and eggs), so the "free cookies" will be out for him... Is it possible for me to request alternative cookies for him ahead of time (as we do at TS meals) and pick them up at a designated spot or something? (I'm guessing "no", but thought I'd ask...;)) Or... Are the bakeries, etc, open and might there be a place on Mainstreet where I could get him a rice krispy treat during that time?

I don't know why I'm obsessing about this minor detail -- but I don't want him to feel left out! ;)

I've been to WDW 3 times in Dec but only 1 MVMCP. On my first Dec trip it was in the 90's during the days-very unseasonably warm. On my next Dec trip I only had light weight pants no warm clothes and at least 1 night was in the 30's. I went to the Candlelight Processional that night and they had portable heaters for the choir. On my most recent Dec trip in 2001 it was again very warm-80's during the day. We had our denim shirts to wear at night but never needed them.

I've also been in early Jan with night time temps in the 30's. Of course it was sub zero at home but I still wished I had gloves with me in FL.

I can't wait to go back to MVMCP again. I'll be buying some sort of :santa: to wear.

Sort of off topic, but I will try and think of a tip while I am typing so I don't get in trouble :rotfl:

Is there a thread or anything with the dates of DISers going to MVMCP?? Just to throw my $.02 in, myself and DBF will be there Nov 30!!!

Ok, I have tried to come up with a tip, and I'm sure it has been said before, but here goes anyway.... I recommend riding the TTA in tomorrowland at least a couple times (yes we like it a lot), especially since they usually let you stay on when there's no line- so, 99% of the time basically, haha. It's a cool ride as is, but it's even cooler watching the people bustling around the party, and hearing the holiday music being piped in around Tomorrowland!!

Can you get a picture done with it snowing on Main St with the Castles in the background??

Thank you

Charleyann!

I'm going to MVMCP on 12/5 solo, and this is my first time to this party. I'm looking to close the place, so does anyone have any advice for me? I hear it empties out pretty well during the last hour or so, which will be good for rides, but does it lose the "party" atmosphere that late? I was thinking of arriving later (is that okay to do, by the way, or is there a cutoff for arrivals?) and staying until the end. I suppose it's a possibility that all the party merchandise will be sold out by the time I get there, but that might be a good thing, since I'm spending too much anyway. What are people's experience with arriving late, and closing the party?

I was going to ask if they sell anything special during the party. This is my first time going. What type of things are party-specific and are they in any particular store or in all of the stores?

Do the characters sign autographs during MVMCP? Or just pose for pictures?

The characters we met signed and posed for pictures!

They have pins, Christmas ornaments, t shirts and sweatshirts. That is what I saw personally. We bought our things - minus the pin at the store near Stitch..I'm thinking Star Traders. The pin I saw on other people but I could not find the darn thing to buy one!! This year I will find one ::yes::

Just thought I'd bump this as I wondered the same thing... I'm lactose intolerant so cookies are bad...even though I love them!

we'll be there for the first party on November 13th. If anyone has any questions or things they'd like me to try to find answers to feel free to pm me! :goodvibes

Ok, I am really torn on this one, and I hope some input from you folks will help me make up my mind.

Our reservations are for Nov. 9 -16. Had not originally planned on MVMCP; we had no idea it would be starting on the 13th until yesterday.

That day is early entry for Animal Kingdom, so we were thinking of using that for a better chance of catching the animals awake. We have never been to WDW before and have no idea how much time to alot to AK. (Just my husband and I.) If it is a very full day, I'm not sure I want to add MVMCP on top of it. (Ideally would like to go back to the resort and rest before heading into MK.)

So here are my questions -

First: Is this really worth the extra park admission on top of the park-hoppers we already have? Realistically this is a one-shot deal for us; we are not likely to spring the money for WDW again. Does the snow on Main Street look anything like snow? (We're a little cynical after witnessing some sparse "snow" bubbles at the end of the fireworks last year at Disneyland. )

Second: Does it even make sense to use early entry at AK on that day? This is mere theory on my part, based on the behavior of animals at parks in Southern California.

Third: Is the 13th a school holiday out there for Veteran's Day? That might make bigger crowds for both AK and MVMCP.

Fourth: Is there any chance that AK might actually have bigger crowds anyway because of early entry? If that seems likely, we might schedule AK for another part of the week, which would mean we could plan a more leisurely day around MVMCP on the 13th.

I know I have to decide ASAP because these tickets are disappearing fast. Thanks for your opinions!

What do I call to order tix? Also, any cancellation info if we change our minds about it? We'll probably go Dec 5th if we decide to do it. TIA! :santa:

Just want to add that a few characters don't sign (like Bullseye), but most do. :)

To us, it's worth the extra cost, but many others would disagree.
Our trip in 2004 was supposed to be our one-shot also, couldn't imagine ever spending that much to go again. Dec. will be our 4th trip.
We enjoyed the "snow" - much better than the real stuff we have at home!

Second: Does it even make sense to use early entry at AK on that day? This is mere theory on my part, based on the behavior of animals at parks in Southern California.

Reports I've read indicate that crowds at early entries are typically low. The animals tend to be more active early in the day (however, we saw a wide variety on a very hot afternoon in Sept.)
Personally, I like to sleep in on party days, and stay at the party until closing.

Third: Is the 13th a school holiday out there for Veteran's Day? That might make bigger crowds for both AK and MVMCP.

Sorry, don't know.

Fourth: Is there any chance that AK might actually have bigger crowds anyway because of early entry? If that seems likely, we might schedule AK for another part of the week, which would mean we could plan a more leisurely day around MVMCP on the 13th.

Most reports I've read indicate that early entry has low crowds, and late night have larger crowds, but that can always vary.

I know I have to decide ASAP because these tickets are disappearing fast. Thanks for your opinions!

Good luck with your decision!
We went in 2004, and are looking forward to going again this year. We've done MNSSHP twice, and enjoyed it, but we liked MVMCP better - hopefully we still will. :)

Hope this helps. :)
