Must Pack Items??

Kilts, you won't believe the responses you get by wearing that inocent little garment:banana::banana:

The Man

Yep:thumbsup2...especially when you wear it with a bra!

Something I wished we had in our inside stateroom...a light up clock. It was dark in the room, which I loved, but I never knew what time it was when I woke up. Woke up one night thinking it must be time to get up, and it was only 4:20!! I had read that tip on these boards, and then forgot to pack the clock.
I used a clear over the door shoe holder...great idea!!
I did NOT pack my own hairdryer...didn't need it. The one in the room was fine. But I am not one to spend a lot of time on my hair...as others have said, as soon as you step outside for a sec...it's all gone anyway!

That was mean, the bra really didn't go well with the kilt I was wearing, it was far to lacey for my taste. The young lady who gave it to me did get miffed about the state I return it in, it got alittle stretched out.

I thought it looked great together;) You'll have to be a little choosy next time...I'm sure there will be a next time for you & magic quest?!?!?!?

I've personally used duct tape for these issues when I've traveled, there are 1000's of other uses I'm sure:

1) hemmed my sons pants
2) repaired a broken piece of luggage
3) held our connecting door open
4) taped two boogie boards together so they would be considered one piece of luggage
5) repaired (briefly) the sole of a sneaker

It is just handy for many traveling needs. I of course don't bring a big roll. Once the roll we had at home got small, I squirreled it away for bringing on trips. I squished it flat so it doesn't take much space. I think you can also buy smaller rolls at the hardware store.

I mostly carry it to repair damaged luggage if needed. I've got enough suitcases at home for an army. I don't need to buy more while on vacation. If I can repair it enough to get it home, I can toss it then.

AND.....I've seen duct tape available in LIME GREEN (eh, Woody?)

.

There are no ATMs at the cruise terminal nor on the cruise ship. So bring some cash to use for tipping the stevedores, and to put in your tipping envelopes the last night if that's what you prefer. (Good to bring it in smaller denominations as it can be hard to find someone to help you make change.)

After 4 cruises we never go without:
Cruise docs
Solarcaine/sun tan lotions lots of it!
Clothes pins for the clothes line
Quarters for the washer/dryer
Air freshner for the bathrooms
We don't use an extension cord, we found a plug in with 3 or 4 more outlets on it that works wonderfully without the extra bulkiness of an extension cord.
Pop up hamper, the best thing ever! It really keeps things neat in a small place and fits in the closet. It is mesh with handles so easy transport to the laundry room. About $5 - $6 at walmart
Ziplock bags We thought people were joking about this, but we are glad we have them every cruise so far!
A roll of duct tape and markers/highliters. Duct tape is king! :) Oh The days it has saved!
Extra memory
Chargers for batteries, ipods, computers, and phones.
I use papaya enzyme pills instead of rolaids or tums, it's the natural thing, and this has to make it in the suitcase.
Bonine
A cheap shoe organizer, Ikea had them for .99 we hang it in the closet and it gives us extra shelves where we put laundry detergent, bounce
things we seem to collect as the days go by, odds and ends to pack at the end. It's in the closet and out of the way but very accessible.

We have a plastic bin marked cruise box where all our stuff goes. As we think of something we toss it in the cruise box so we won't forget to pack it. I print a list and tape it inside the lid then check it off as we pack the item. Keeps me sane and hubby happy. :)

Hope this helps. Have fun! I can't wait for 2010 to get here! Our next cruise!

Awsome suggestions!!! Thank you so much for sharing. There are a few things I wouldn't have thought of. It'll go on my list and and will also get a "cruise box" to gather everything.

And things I need to do before we go:
1) make door magnets
2) FE Gifts
3) re-confirm all hotel/rental car/air reservations (experience says we must)
4) charge all re-chargeables
5) prepare house
6) stop mail, newspaper, etc.
7) pay bills
8) get dress clothes for boys...they grow so fast I need to wait to last minute
9) Online check-in
10) haircuts
11) make fish extender
12) Get our cabin assignments!!!!!!!

I know right! So much to do before and after. These will also be on my check list. :thumbsup2

DH was in the Army and he never travels without "the tape". LOL

Things we've used duct tape for, ( I usually buy white duct tape though I'm going to look for the lime green!:)):

Identify luggage when we've forgotten to put on our ribbons. We put a big X on the back.

Labels for things that you can't write on. Just take a strip and put it on the item and you can write for days!

When one of our snorkels cracked it held it together, then someone promptly stole it while we were swimming. LOL!

Repairing ripped clothes until I can sew it. I broke a bathing suit strap  and DH made a temporary one that held on until we got back to the ship. I was amazed!

Made a handle that broke off one of the suitcases. It got us through the trip and home again! Also good if you break a zipper, just bind it in the tape!

On one of our cruises the plastic that covered the water bottles came off the carton. We just wound it with duct tape and didn't lose a bottle! Woot! :)

Sometimes we use it sometimes we don't but we are glad we have it. :)

I'm glad we can help you and learn new things ourselves. I can't wait to try those new laundry sheets!

Swimmer's Ear for the kids!!!! Saves for some crying over ear pain after a day of dunking their heads in the water!

Thank you for all the great suggestions! I would have never thought of some of these!
