We are planning to make ressies for December 20-25 (check out Christmas Day)at WDW. We are having a hard time deciding in what order to try to get ressies. (7 month window) We will be at VWL this June, but never stayed at BWV or BCV. While VWL would give us the best "atmosphere" our kids (boys 12 and 13) have the pool as top priority and the action of the Boardwalk. We have never been there during the holidays.

We are really torn as to where to stay! What would your pick be????

Thanks!

Best chances will be either BCV (still selling) or OKW (largest resort).

We liked VWL for atmosphere. Good Luck:)

I say BWV's only cause of the atmosphere. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I wouldn't guarantee swimming during December. Isn't the weather a little chilly then at least on most days. IMHO I wouldn't base my villa choice on swimming. good luck! I'm sure wherever you stay will be memorable.

I voted BCV because VWL and BWV might be hard to get a ressie at 7 months out. BCV is a new resort, so why not give it a try. If you can not get BCV than try OKW. Christmas time should be a wonderful time to go.

Good luck!

VWL definately has the best Christmas decor. This time of year is the one time I think OKW is lacking.

Both WVL and BWV have gorgeous decorations. OKW has less resort decorations but access to DD, which is heavily holidayized is nice. Lots of folks at OKW bring along their own lights, etc and do their own decorations.
Personally, I'd go with BWV as it's decorations are great, there is easy access to Epcot with all it's holiday attractions and finally there are the BWV and BCV pools. It might not be pool season in Orlando but it is my experience that 12 and 13 year olds from the north swim at any opportunity.

I wish all tough decisions were this fun to decide upon ;) ;)

DH and I want the atmosphere of VWL but our DSs want BCV because of SAB. They are such "water kids" but I know the weather can be iffy. Then again, being from PA, even weather in the 60's can be swimming weather for them!

aaahhhh!!! I know we may not get our first choice either. Since we are relaxing at VWL and VB in June, we will be doing the parks commando style in December so it may be better to stay within walking distance to Epcot.

Then we have the decision on whether or not to get APs for these next 2 trips!!!!!

Karen

.......but the great thing about DVC is that we can always go back and try somewhere new the next time!!!! :D

I voted BCV because it will probably be the easiest to get at 7 months (I'd call day by day). In addition, BCV has the best pool if that is important to your kids. Be forewarned, swimming can be an iffy proposition that week. Two years ago we were at WDW for Christmas week. It was absolutely too cold to swim on all but 2 days. We are talking high temps in the 40's and 50's, not 60's. It was an unusually cold week.

Tha being said, I highly recommend trying to get VWL. The Christmas atmosphere there is unmatched in any other DVC resort. They are all nice, but VWL is incredible. The main pool is nice at VWL, but nothing like SAB. However, the guyser is really neat. The quiet pool by the villas is also nice - it bubbles. The hot tub by the quiet pool - the ultimate in relaxation. The boat to the MK is neat and convenient.

To be honest, we are splitting our early December trip between VWL (5 nights) and BCV (3 nights). Best of both worlds. However, if we could only do one it would definietly be VWL. We switched a VWL ressie to BCV for the three nights. Seems a lot of people are doing that to see the new BCV. Hopefully that will create some availability at VWL, which is pretty tight right now.

Good luck with your decision. As you know, you can't go wrong.

BTW - get the AP's. Then, if you don't do VWL this Dec, you can always stay at the VWL earlier in Dec next year. The week after Thanksgiving is the best.

I cant compare which resort might look/feel better decorated for the Holiday - I would look at it more like "How will this resort look compared to that resorts theme when they decorate it" I'm sure they all look beautiful for the season.

Our first true "Home Resort" stay will be a Merry Disney Christmas this year - made reservations back in Feb.

Good Luck on your preferred choice !

Karen.....The weather can be unpredictable and there's a chance you will have excellent swimming weather! When we first joined DVC in 1996 we planned a Christmas holiday visit. It just so happened that it was 80 degrees on Christmas Day and my sister and I still comment on how weird it felt swimming on Christmas Day. We had previously been to Disney in April of that year and almost froze to death the night we took the Illuminations Cruise. So.....you really never can tell if there will be good swimming weather or not unless you are there during the hot summer months!

BWV for the accessibility, atmosphere, pool and the restaurants. It's all right there. VWL would be our second choice. I think our kids ages have a lot to do with it, too (same as yours). If it was just the two of us, I would go with VWL first, then BWV second.

Well...I think we will try for BCV as our first choice, followed by BWV, the VWL.

We are staying at VWL this summer and decided to try something new at the holidays.

Plus, we want to make the summer trip lazy and relaxing and the December trip more commando stlye in the parks, so being right on the Boardwalk will make much easier access to Epcot.

Thanks for all your imput...you all helped in our decision!

WILDERNESS LODGE
The lodge is awesome at Christmas time. The music and decorations are excellent. The huge christmas trees are decorated like I have never seen before. They do an excellent job in creating a festive holiday atmosphere. Enjoy where ever you decide to go.
