On my trip I just got back from, I was in three resorts in 4 nights and thought I would let everyone know how all that went. There was a problem, and it was handled very well.
The trip was Coronado Springs for 2 nights, All-Star Movies for 1 night and Pop Century for 1 night. I was NOT at the resorts for the ambience or to enjoy the resort. I was at those particular resorts due to price, availability, and just to have a bed and a shower
This trip was reserved last minute. It was two single adults that were just sharing the room for convenience for Mousefest. My roommate was a Florida resident that lived fairly close, and had a car, but didn't want to make the hour drive each way for all of the long Mousefest days, so I offered to let her share the room(s) with me.
I was flying in and using Magical Express and had my tags on my checked luggage.
I gave my roommate all the reservation information, so she actually checked us in before I even left home.
Because of that, and because of my tiny carryon, I got off the DME bus at it's first stop (Pop Century) and boarded a bus to Downtown Disney. (I did notice that there were other Coronado folks on the bus, so the driver was not stopping there for nothing). My room mate gave me my room key when I got to DTD.
Anyway, when I got back from DTD veeeery late, my stuff was in the room.
When I left Coronado Springs very early on checkout day, I was just going to walk my stuff to Bell Services, but a Bell Services golf cart passed by and offered to take me up front. Once we arrived at the stand, I asked them to transfer my stuff to All-Star Movies and off I went.
Once again, my room mate checked us into Movies at some point during the day and gave me my key when we saw each other.
I arrived at Movies after my day at the parks, (about 1am) and oooops, no luggage, so that's where the ball dropping began. I went back to the front desk to pick up my luggage, thinking they got busy and just didn't bring it by. Luggage Services was closed by then, but the front desk folks can retrieve stuff from the storage room. It wasn't in the storage room, and it took till 2:30 am for them to call Coronado Springs and dig through the logs and realize they had no idea where my luggage was and really no way to track it down at that time of night. So a detailed message was left for the Luggage Services Manager, (coming on duty at 7am) and I borrowed a t-shirt from my roomie, took a shower, and went to bed.
At 7am, I was back at the Luggage Services desk to speak with the manager, and find out what could be done. He was very emphatic that he would rectify the situation within the hour, and I would either have a voucher to purchase some clothes, or my luggage before 8am. Well, he DID!!! It turns out that when my luggage arrived from Coronado Springs, the CM matching it up to the room for delivery misread the dates and thought I had already checked out. This cast member went to the trouble of looking in reservation records and found out I had a reservation at Pop Century the next night, so thinking they were going to save the day, they sent my luggage on to Pop Century.
Well the manager drove his personal car over to Pop Century, got my luggage and brought it to me within 30 minutes
So, I changed clothes and gave them back my luggage to send back to Pop Century and didn't miss anything but a couple hours sleep. (And the ability to charge my camera battery).
I spent the morning at Magic Kingdom and it worked out that my schedule was better to run to Pop Century and do the check-in thing, so I did and met up with my roomy at an afternoon meet and gave her the room key and parking pass then.
Since I wasn't even a Pop Century guest yet the day before checkout to receive my DME pickup time on the door, I asked at checkin how do I get my bus boarding pass, and they told me to go by RAC before boarding the bus and they could give me one. They were able to look up that my bus pickup time was at 5:45 am.
So back to the parks for the afternoon/night and I got back to the room early that night about 10:30pm and had dinner and went to the room and my bags were there!!! So rearranged my stuff to be legal for the airlines and went to bed.
Would I do this bouncing around again? The answer is yes as a solo traveler, would not with family. Will I trust Bell Services/Luggage Services with my stuff. The answer is yes. They do this kind of stuff every day, and 99.99% of the time they get it right. Yeah, I lost a couple of hours of sleep, and yeah I missed out on a few pictures on Sunday cause my battery totally ran down, but really that was it.
