We are doing our first split stay in December. I have two sets of magic bands that were delivered. How do you tell which bands are for which part of your stay? I'm assuming our park tickets we linked through MDE will appear on each set so we can enter parks each day no matter what bands we have?
Any thoughts welcome!

I have asked the same question. I think it does not matter. They activate them when you get there. I have also heard they can use the same band. They just have to deactivate them at your new place

Check out the 'Tips and Tricks for MyMagic+' page on DVCMember.com: https://dvc.disney.go.com/members/member-extras/member-news/my-magic-plus

From that page:
Remember, reservations and tickets are linked to a profile, not your MagicBands. Your MagicBands pull information from your profile.

Both bands will work for your entire stay...and any future stays. They are created for a specific user and link to that user's MDE profile. Nothing is stored directly on the bands, they simply access information in Disney's database.

You will be able to bring them back trip after trip. They will read whatever is in the user's profile (resort stays, tickets, FP+ selections, Magical Express reservations, etc.) at the time they are scanned.

+1

I also have multiple bands for an upcoming trip. While sorting out MDE issues on the phone, I asked the CM about what to do with all the bands that I'm receiving. She said, I can bring one or bring all, they will work for all stays of my trip.

I guess you can think of the band as essentially, your MDE login. When you login to MDE, it theoretically shows all your stays and all your FP+ and dining. Your band will be your "login" while you are at WDW. It knows where you are staying that night (while on property) and what FP+ and dining you have during your stays.

Yup, this happened to me last week. both my bands worked at both hotels, and both had my annual pass on them. and both had the same pin and charging capabilities. No need to worry!

We had the same issue on our October trip- twosets of bands. We only ever used one set and they worked for both segments of the trip.

Just to clarify...neither of your bands had your AP on them. Your AP is linked to your MDEx profile and each band can read that profile. When you scan it at the turnstiles it sees that you have an AP and allows you into the park. I only make the clarification because this point is the one that seems to confuse the most people. Nothing at all is on the bands. They simply access information in Disney's database.

Yup, I meant that my AP was linked to both and I had no issue getting into the park using either band.

For my Feb. trip I'll have 3 bands in addition to the band I just got for the Dec. trip. I ordered all different colors so I can wear whichever one goes with my outfit for the day. Big waste of money IMHO

What I did was spell my name a little differently on each band. Wish I'd selected different colors but I didn't.

We have that next week. We all picked Disney character names (Belle, Ariel, etc) on the first set then Christmas names for the second set (Holly, Jolly, etc). Thought we would have fun with it and be able to keep them straight.

We are currently at WDW! We have three bands and were told by one cast member that they could be used interchangeably. However, I have had a significant number of "little" problems (none ruined my vacation), and I was then told to stick with one that works.

Thanks all! Seems silly to keep sending bands out to people if one set will work for each reservation.....

Right now, the majority of people do not have MBs so I t is easier to send one set per reservation. Eventually this will stop and guests will be expected to bring their bands back for each visit.

Yup, that's the crazy part-one band will work for the entire reservation. Before we went, I called and they assured me that I needed a new band for each part of my split stay. In actuality, when I got there, I forgot and packed the "second" band in my suitcase, so when I got to the second hotel I was still wearing the "first" band. The CM said "Oh, no problem", did some "Mickey Head to Mickey Head" stuff and voila! My "second" band remained packed away, and I wore the "first" band for the entire trip.

My magic band had to be reprogrammed at the second hotel... They said it would work but then after I walked to the room it didn't open the door so I had to go all the way back to the lobby to get it fixed. Then it said I was over my charging limit but I had not charged anything. Took another phone call to fix that.

That is interesting. We had a split stay earlier this month. Our bands (4 each) all worked for everything without any sort of programming/re-programming at either resort.

We did have a minor issue when we checked into our second hotel. Even though I had gone to the desk at Pop and checked out it wasn't showing at SSR. They had to call Pop and check us out again before they could check us in at SSR. I think we may have had issues with our bands if the Pop check out had not been done. Since the SSR CM handled it before checking us in we were good to go.

I've got two sets and just got another request via email to get our magic bands!!! Lol the kids like them and were taking them all just to make sure we have the right ones.

I was just told last evening be Member Services that the bands cannot be used for multiple trips. We have Magic Bands for our trip next week. I was making a reservation for later this year & was told that we will need new bands for that trip. I specifically asked, because I had read on this blog that bands could be reused for future trips.
