Multiple Dinner Reservations

Why not just plan on using the later ADR regardless of when you arrive? Cancel the earlier one.

I think that the new reservation system has increased WDW's ability to identify when people have more than one reservation for the same meal. So while some have gotten away with it in the past, it is not a risk I would take at this point....... I say pick a later time, then show up early and see if they can work you in sooner.......

What about people trying to make ADR's before the hours come out? I can see myself making reservations at different parks on the same day for this reason. I don't get hoppers, and would be out of luck. As soon as the hours come out, I will cancel the ones I don't need

I gotta agree with this one, if WDW can't publish the hours timely, it leaves people scrambling. However, the extra ADR should be cancelled once you finalize your schedule.

Personally I find making two ADR reservations, just because you don't know what you will be doing, to be a selfish and inconsiderate practice. Doing so has the mentality of I'm more important and special than anyone else -- as long as I get what I want no one else matters.

Just my opinion....

I agree completely,
To the OP, making ADR's is not the only challenge when traveling with 3 young children. But it is not a valid reason to deny others opportunity too. JMHO

Please don't do this, it is very rude to every one else who is tryin to make their plans. I couldn't get Ohana today and was told that many people book two places so there was a good chance that I would be able to get a reservation. In the mean time I don't know where we are eating our first night. I know that you can't count on the airlines but perhaps your first meal could be a CS (this is what we are doing) so you don't have to worry about it.

Does anyone ever make more than one dinner reservation per night? What I mean is if you have one that you think is too early, schedule a different one at another location, and then cancel once you get to WDW.

Thanks.

Unbelievably selfish parental entitlement behavior (trying real hard not to use the other word for parent)

True, but it would give someone walking up to the restaurant an opening to get in. I'm sure Disney doesn't lose out when someone cancels a reservation.

1) But, someone trying to plan the trip in advance does lose out.
2) How would you feel if you could not get an ADR because someone double-booked?

Personally I think to do that is rude. dining adrs are hard enough. If everyone did this it would be harder. Not everyone is a planner and I understand that. But to hold more than one ressie( I know people that try and make one for each park to decide on a whim) takes away from those people that know that they want x restaurant on x day and are going to keep it.

This is why some people end up not getting to eat at the places they want because there are other's that wan't to have more than one option just in case. Some people would like to have just one option at the place they would like to eat at, and can't because all the ADR's are taken.

I feel that it's not that hard of a choice to just pick a location and a time and go with that. Life is full of variables, but on vacation I am ALWAY's able to pick just one restaurant and pick just one time and make it - because for us- meals are at this time and we just adjust our plans so it works.

Disney is not very adept at factoring in no-shows which is why you always wait at Le Cellier (few no shows) while almost every place you walk in and sit down.

I wish people wouldn't do this. If it becomes more prevalent, you'll have more restaurants making a CC and cancellation fee mandatory.

I have never made 2 adrs for one night, but I know people who make 2 or 3 adrs for every night they are there. It has to be up to disney to stop this , they will not listen to me. L&G's Dad

We have always decided where to eat and made the ADR's even if the park hours aren't posted. This way we just plan around our ADR's. Even with kids this has worked. Now I will admit for our ADR's it was either for breakfast or supper. We always did counter service for lunch. Also we tried getting the earliest breakfast times and early dinner (5ish). Did I feel tied down to the times and places chosen? No, we just put it on our agenda for the day. Also, park hopper was a help. We went to CRT one morning (7:50 AM ADR) rode a few rides in Fantasyland, and then went to AK.

I agree with everyone else making two ressies isn't polite. Also, as soon as you know you aren't going to use your ressie, call and cancel, even if it is the day of the ressie. Someone else would love to take your spot.

But that's VERY different from making two reservations then cancelling one the day before, or the day of, or just not showing up.

It's also very understandable and extremely considerate :thumbsup2!

Why is it wrong to cancel an ADR the day it's scheduled for? I thought when people do that it's a good thing because someone might be able to make a last minute ADR at that location or other guests can go there as a walk-in. A few years ago after returning from Boma I got sick and thought it was from something I had there, so the next morning I cancelled my families second ADR for dinner which was scheduled for the day after that. Now I am not sure if someone was able to take our ADR by making their own or going as a walk-in, however we did our part by cancelling it and it's not our responsibility to make sure someone else gets the ADR that we cancelled.

Disney doesn't lose out, but other people trying to make reservations would, if people were to do this all the time.

I'm not talking about this particular person holding two for what seems to be a reasonable reason on only one night.

I tried to get into Chef Mickey's, CRT and 1900 Park Fare and couldn't at 2 months before our trip. I know they book early and I don't mind if all those people who booked before me, actually do plan to eat there, but it would be frustrating to know we missed out because somebody double booked a bunch of reservations on purpose and then cancelled last minute the one they decided they didn't feel like using.

I have to agree with you. I would never book two because it's hard already to get what you want, I would hate to mess something up for someone else.
