Multiple ADRs

Do a lot of people book multiple ADRs for the same restaurant and then let decide which ones to let go while they are on their trip? Just wondering if we have a chance of getting some ADRs while we are on our trip since we have been so unsuccessful booking them before our November trip.

The scenario you're describing is unlikely due to the $10 per person charge for no-shows. People aren't going to want to risk forgetting to cancel their reservations, and I believe in most circumstances the reservation has to be cancelled 24 hours in advance.

Your best bet is to keep checking, especially around the 45 day mark, as that is when most people are sure they are going or not.

I would check at the 60 day mark too because people will firm up their plans once they can schedule fp+

Keep checking because people add and drop ADRs as they tweak their plans. I know that I dropped a pre park CP because a prepark BOG opened up, and I dropped a few others that we decided we just did not need.

I think that people tend to book more than they really need in the beginning but by the time they travel they have fine tuned the dining to coincide with their touring strategy, and have dropped the "extra" along the way. SO keep checking! I have not used the dining buddies that are out there but have seen that some people ave had good luck. If there is one ADR you really have your heart set on, maybe look into one of those tools.

I'm 160 days out and I am still tweaking our ADRs. Wouldn't say I change them daily, but weekly, yes. I did it all the way to being on property, to make our trip as perfect as it could be.

I gave up 3-4 good ADRs while we were on property, because my travel party wanted some freedom. They were tired of te rigid schedule, and I feared mutiny! I don't think the $10 cancellation stops people from making the reservations, I just think it means there will be openings 24-48 hrs in advance when they cancel.

People drop ADRs all the time. Many times I have gotten them at 24 hours out even a few hours out. I find a good time to check is 2 weeks out on the weekend as families firm up their vacation plans. I truly believe there must be a good amount of hoarding going on and good ones will open up eventually. You need to try to be patient and not worry about it.

My daughter is in Disney right now on a FD bounceback We needed to add a person to 2 hard to get ADRs and they booked Park Fare last minute.

I don't. I think it is rude to do. Make your plans the best you can, and roll with them.

In addition to what twinky posted, check out the ADR helper thread. http://www.disboards.com/threads/listing-of-adr-helpers-and-prices-scout-buddy-agent-etc.3439297/

There are various ways to help you get the ADRs.

Yes, some people do. Checking around the 60, 45, 30 day marks is good idea. Also, the last two weeks and 24-72 hour marks.

Definitely hold out hope for getting the ADR's you want! People change them all the time. I never seem to be able to plan at the 180 day mark - but I do really start planning shortly before the 60 day mark. And then I tweak as I move around FP+ times, think about schedule more, and try for ADR's I might want more than the ones I'm holding. I've got a couple for Dec, for example, that I will probably let go if LTT ADR's open back up and I score one of those. And once I pick my Christmas party day - I might change things around. ADR's are fluid for many people and things open up all the time. I'm usually pretty settled a week before the trip, but I often change things up the day before while on my trip, too. Plans change! Weather or a bad night's sleep might change up our plans while on vacation. Last trip, we scored the BOG lunch we need just two weeks before the trip. Two trips ago, I got into Boma two days before I wanted it and I hadn't been able to get the day and time range I wanted for weeks before that. So - make plans based on availability now - but you can keep trying to change them!

I didn't have my ADRs all finalized until 90 days out, so don't worry!! People do book more than they need and drop them once they've booked their FP at 30 or 60 days so try checking then, too. I don't overbook, because I think it's rude, but lots of people do and it can make it very tough for others to get ADRs. Hang in there! Something will come up!!

I think it would make sense to always check day of, as well. We have ADRs (but not multiple ones). My plan is to look over the next day's schedule every night and determine whether we want to keep them. Probably, we will keep most, but I could see dropping a couple if we are tired or have decided to change parks.

I like pretending I'm at Disney now and looking for Adrs in a couple of days just to see last min availability. There's often some good ones last min. For our non imaginary holiday next month I have booked multiple for a couple of places that I know we really want and will cancel once firmed up.

I just checked tomorrow for example.. and can currently see breakfast reservations available for at BOG and CP at Magic Kingdom :-)

Yes, I think people do that, because I've seen posts where people mention doing that so they have options. I'm sure it does contribute to lack of ADRs sometimes, because they know as long as they cancel 24 hours prior to the reservation, they don't have to pay the $10 cancellation fee. That being said, I am sure if you keep checking, you'll get some good ADRs even up to the last minute. Best of luck to you!

I also think that sometimes people overestimate how much dining they will want to do and end up trimming some restaurants once they are in the parks. I have seen some inineraries that have three TS meals a day booked, and until they are actually in the parks, they have no idea how long dining takes.
