Mules, Clones and Done.keys for Dreams Month?

I too have not put my mules out either. I did not think it was fair. Though many of them play regularly. I wanted to make sure others had a chance.

But I do hope that the hats become tradeable as I have extras to gift too. I think if they could just make them gift able not trade able that would be cool.

And I will be very sad if they do become tradeable and some one tries to make it rich off them. I would suggest not going to that thread. Though others may see it differently. But just remember their are little kids outthere without dream ears and if given the chance I would help them :)

I think many are trying to hoard the beta red tents that are tradeable. Nobody has mentioned it but thats the deal for many of them. Today there seems to be no such giveaways. Just ears and rooms. For that reason I do wish people would honor the Hosts previous requests and leave the mules home if only for today.

I wont cry when this is over that I dont have a room. But I would like to hope that our community would at least give me a fair shot at it by not holding a spot in that winning area that they are obviously looking for indian feathers to win the grand prize. Its the last day of the promotion, I know the people who are muling do have many prizes.

You sit in a room and entertain your friends on your main account. Lets be honest play them all or not, I never go visit myfriendsmule and myfriendsmuletoo. I visit myfriend and it wont do myfriendsmuletoo any good to have a castle suite. It will just be another ice storage.

I am playing an extra clone (who has many friends!) at times this month because
1) I hope items will be tradeable
2) Double the chance to win a dream room/pins/etc.
3) I have people I would like to gift ears to if I were to win and host would do that
4) Half my friends stand in one room, the other half in another. This way I can hang out with two sets of friends.

Not trying to take anything away from our beloved hosts Hula, Lily, and Phinny. They have worked hard to give people dreams, and they have tried so hard to make sure everyone has gotten ears. So I think them for that.

I do have to say that I am disappointed to hear that so many people have had so many mules out day after day, and those mules are winning prizes that could have gone to others who have not been so lucky. I hear people talking about how they have mules all over the place, and how much stuff that they have won this month.

Now, I will admit that I did bring a few of my mules in today to try to put myself on a more even playing field with the others who have been doing this all month, but wound up pulling them all out because I wasn't having anymore luck using multiple characters as I did night after night using just rolls. I didn't see a host at all today.

I have spent at least 10-15 hours per week waiting around, hoping that I would have some luck. I was able to get ears for myself, my nephew, and gift them to one of our great DIS kids. And yesterday I randomly walked into a room as Fin was giving out blue set in Town Square.

I figured that I just wasn't a lucky person, but now I'm realizing that it's not so much that I'm not lucky. It's more that the rooms are so flooded with mules that my chances were worse than they could have been.

Now, I know there is nothing in VMK values saying that it's wrong to use mules, but at the same time, I personally would not feel good about knowing that I had won five, six, eight, or more times on multiple characters when there are lots of people out there who haven't gotten anything.

I'm an adult. I'm not going to waste time worrying or being upset that about not winning a castle room or a pink tiki. I just feel bad for the kids out there who haven't gotten anything.

Original Poster, I know you didn't intend to single anyone out. I'm not hurt in the least by this post. I do understand the frustrations and I appreciate having the opportunity to explain.

Now I'm starting to understand the question better. I don't have an answer as to why people would occupy every instance of a room other than to try to get the rare items that can be traded. I think Aengus is spot on with that observation. Interesting enough, qruthie won the red tent and cactus chair while sitting in her own guest room with some friends. We were trying to figure out where to go for the dreams shift and Phinny showed up.

Now, I admit, I have been very tempted today to fill a single instance of a room with prior room winners and just qruthie, but I haven't done it. Any prior room winners who would like to do this for me, just let me know. :happytv:

I am muling for a pink tiki, not items that are non tradeable! And I only have 2 people total on.

As was stated, I did no mean any disrespect. I can understand and appreciate the fact that you are stating your perspective. Additionally, I can understand wanting to win the castle suite.

My post was not meant as an attack, but I'm sorry some have seen it that way. If it was taken that way by anyone, I truly apologize.

My biggest gripe is the frustration I have felt watching a child get upset about not getting virtual ears when so many have bragged about the 10 they did get. I'm strict about the computer/video games & when it gets to that point, I take it away until he understands that it's not worth getting this upset over.

Still, it's frustrating.

Thank you for allowing me to share my opinions & for clarifying as well.

I have 4 characters and I play with 2 of them equally. Though I only waited on a dream one night for one of them, I don't see how anybody is any more entitled than anybody else.

VMK is free, the stuff costs you nothing and it should not bother you if I choose to play on NeonSunrise or her "sister"!

Furthermore, if I get a dream on a second character, that just gives me one more to gift....but again, not sure how this affects anybody else other than the person I would gift something to.

AwesomeAg: I don't understand how you've helped keep this thread on topic. You did not answer to the original post.

Well qruthie said she would sign out and let her family sign on if people wanted her to, and I was just stating that I for one had no problem with her being signed on with more than one account. She obviously plays all the characters more than what most people do with mules, so she should have the right to have them on to try and win dreams with them too. I'm sorry you felt that I wasn't posting anything relevant to what was already stating in the thread.

As for your topic, I believe that some people who are using mules probably haven't won anything at all. And at least if they have a bunch of mules out that increases their chances of winning...though not by much if you were looking at it from a pure mathematical standpoint. Especially if the program the hosts are using is truly random.

As for people who have already won stuff and are still using mules, well they may have won ears, but not the other items, so why not have more characters standing in rooms waiting to see if they can win the other items. Again it really won't increase their chances of winning by very much. But if it makes them feel better...

And before anyone flames me over this more "laid back" and "uncaring" attitude towards people with mules out. I understand the frustration and disappointment of waiting for a host and not getting anything. I spent about 3 hours a night on vmk without winning anything for three and a half weeks until I even saw a host. Would having a mule out have helped me win anything sooner, no probably not. It's a RANDOM program. And it's pure luck to happen to be in the room that a host walks into.

And as another thought, maybe people with mules out are trying to win ears and then ask the host to gift them to a friend.

I don't know. I personally don't see the need to have mules out (or have any desire to have mine out), but if someone else wants their mules out, it's their choice.

Respect your opinion and thought you wrote it nicely. But you left one topic out. Dont you think the hosts asking not to was enough to maybe curb it a bit? You can choose to say they are just doing their jobs, or its none of their business if you like. It was just left unaddressed.

First, my heart goes out to your son. I wish dream ears had just been put into everyone's inventory as a gift for the month. But, VMK doesn't seem to implement my ideas so my wish hasn't been filled. My daughter is in the same boat, not a single dreams item. My son did get ears when PirateBell opened her "Dreaming for Christmas Ears" room and I'm very grateful she did that, beyond that, he has no other dreams items. Both of them have tried to win dreams items when they have been in the game. They did not hang out with me or any of my other characters except the night PirateBell opened her room and my character was only there to help fill up the room. Today, my entire family has decided not to play VMK because they want me or my other characters to win a room. That is their choice, not even my suggestion.

None of my characters are afk and they can't have been sitting in the same place CONSTANTLY because I lost my internet for a while (meaning all five or six computers in the house). Sometimes my browsers leave "ghosts" of me around. That I can't help. Those "ghosts" would definitely be afk.

I go through my windows constantly. I move some characters, others I don't. Some of them can't talk due to lag, I type lalala every so often to make sure I'm still connected. One is busy trying to add new friends to her list and is experiencing horrible lag because of it. If my character is wearing ears, then she or he is not in a room trying to win more ears. She or he is trying to win a room today, not ears. In that case, the character is standing in a place I think may be unique enough to win a room. YoHoEmpty and qruthietoo are both wearing ears right now and are attempting to stay in the same spots. Anybody else is roving.

As I said above, if you have a problem with me being signed on more than once, I will sign out and my family will sign on with their characters. In addition, they will most likely take the places I am currently standing in because they want me to have a room. I'm not sure what that would change other than removing some people's label of "clones". But if it makes people feel better, I will do that.

In any case, I'm not trying to say what I'm doing is right or that anyone should condone it, that's up to you to decide. My point was to explain why clones or whatever might be on. At least give me some respect for being honest that I have multiples on and for trying to explain my motive. Many people who use this board regularly have multiple characters on and are staying quiet.

I'm sorry this reply took so long, my priority is to go through my windows frequently and make sure I'm not blocking anyone or anything. I'm also getting bombarded with questions in each window which believe it or not, I really am trying to answer.

Hey...look I understand that there are alot people and kids who don't have ears or rooms or any other dream item...BUT lets not take it out on Qruthie! I can tell you from experince she is the nicest...kindest and most giving person I know! I see no problem in her using her other characters! What's wrong with someone wanting to play this game that she likes so much? I am on here alot! I play it alot ...mainly cause I love Disney and it also helps me take my mind off my son who is in Iraq right now! Many people have reason why they play...all I am saying is lets not get rude or mean to someone who plays more than one character. I want the room really bad too but haven't gotten it and well that is life.. I rememeber when i hadn't gotten my first ears yet after the first week...but it was Qruthie who told me not to give up and hang in there. She was right.

I opened my room up so that it could give a chance for all other little ones who had not won yet, I also asked if I could gift my ears she was handing out to someone else...but she didn't ansd so I landed up getting a second pair... I would be more than happy to gift them to your son if they become tradeable... (please seem if they do) There was alot others who came into my room that night to help fill up the room like Qruthie said ...with their sons or daughters in there with them...but as soon as it was filled and line they left so others could come in. And i am grateful to them as it helped others who wanted their ears! So please it is the last night of dreams but lets not get mean and rude... She is a nice and giving person! And as i said..if they become tradeable..please come see me. I be happy to gift him ears if he don't get some!

Hang in there Qruthie... Your cool!!

Just a bit of clarification. I don't think anyone is complaining about someone using one extra mule. I think most of us have a two characters that we use regualry. But when you here people talking about having six or eight or ten mules out there day after day that's where it becomes frustrating to hear about how much they have won on their multiple characters when they are lucky to have gotten ears on the only character they've had out on dream month.

Yes, luck is a factor, but honestly, greed seems to be a big thing here too.

Thank you for the compliment.

Just curious, but where exactly did the hosts ask to curb the mules? I know I read it in this thread, but frankly, I take most stuff on here with a grain of salt. Even if someone posts screenshots of a host saying something, I still take it with a grain of salt. It's too easy for someone to take something a host said out of context. So unless it's written somewhere on the VMK website, I'm just going to assume the hosts don't mind mules hanging out trying to get Dreams stuff. Does that make sense?

it was when I closed down one of the sightings threads, it should be the only locked one.

Then I witnessed it myself in game a day later.

So the constant message I get when I sign on is to just play as I normally do. Well, playing as I normally do means about an hour or so (unless I'm lukcy) of my time is in the Jungle Cruise. Currently, I'm building a couple new rooms which means time not in the JC is spent in a locked room. Neither will win me anything. At the same time I don't want to sit around in a room waiting for a host or go room hopping. I did that for the first couple weeks of the month and it didn't do anything for me. So that's the reason I brought out a second character. Because if I'm to go about doing my usual VMK activities, I have zero chance of winning anything.

My question is simply, "Why?" ...
I would often log-on using Goofy_Bob and my girlfriend's character Pirate_Redhead. We have only one computer in the house, and I tend to use it more than she... so to give her some play time I would often log her on and keep her in whatever room I was in (so if one of us won, we both would). This worked well the only two times we both won (Dream ears and Tomorrowland Set). That's one reason why I had multiple people on.

After about two weeks seeing how difficult it was to win compared to other players and how many wins they had... ...and how limited my VMK time was, I figured I'd bulk up. So I would run a second character along with Goofy_Bob (one time I had a third character running). These were mostly to increase my chances of winning. I hope/expect at least some of the items to be tradeable to give to my Main Character. If not, it's certainly no loss.

Alas, it didn't pay off. My mules won bubkiss.

....Just curious, but where exactly did the hosts ask to curb the mules? ... So unless it's written somewhere on the VMK website, I'm just going to assume the hosts don't mind mules hanging out trying to get Dreams stuff....

Sorry Aengus, I have to agree with AwesomeAg... Until I read your posts above about the Hosts comments, I hadn't heard them complain. If they really cared to make an announcement they should send a message to everyone in game, or post it on VMK. :rolleyes1

Overall, I hated the way the Dreams were rewarded. Anytime you have Random prizes, you're going to get munchkins who use a brute-force method to increase their odds. And that means mules, clones, and done.keys.

I didn't see anywhere except here second hand about this.

While agree for many it was just plain greed, for many others, it wasn't.

During this entire month, I would log in 2 characters each. I logged in on my main account and then usually my main boy account Poolcue. About 5-6 times, I would try to log in a 3rd account.
All 3 accounts I have had for 2 years and play often.
All I wanted was to be able to get just 1 of everything new.

Here's what I got:

Terribear (3rd acct): 0 zip, nada, nothing.
Poolcue, my second acct that was up almost all the time: 1 pair of ears and nothing else.

cteddiesgirl:
4 pairs of ears
1 t-shirt
1 fairy pin
1 red tent
1 sea green cactus
1 pink slipper
1 blue ALR flower
1 set tea cup teleporters
1 pink tiki
1 set boat teleporters
1 green lightcycle
1 tron arcade

Cteddiesgirl was up maybe 4 sessions more than poolcue was.

Yesterday at the start, I did have up both terribear and poolcue. I wanted poolcue to get a green lightcycle. But after it became apparant that they were not giving these out anymore, I logged him off. Terribear I logged off sooner because my computer was acting up.

Did I manage to get 1 of everything? No. Am I complaining about it? No.
Have I stated many times I would like to gift my extra ears? Yes.
I feel for those that got nothing. But as you can tell from what I got between ct and poolcue, it was so incredibly random that many people would have never gotten anything no matter what.

But, I will make no excuses for myself. If I had another computer or a better computer, I would have had more up. I would have loved to get more of those pink tikis and red tents to trade. And I do believe that is what many people were doing.

Sorry Aengus, I have to agree with AwesomeAg... Until I read your posts above about the Hosts comments, I hadn't heard them complain. If they really cared to make an announcement they should send a message to everyone in game, or post it on VMK. :rolleyes1

It wasnt an official VMK position.

The hosts were upset, I witnessed it first hand. They told us it wouldnt be so bad but the same people were winning, in some cases 7,8,9 times in a single shift. I saw another host say we see the same people in every room.

So I came here and made a statement and closed a post.

It was quickly "undone" and ignored. Thats fine.

The last day when this thread was created I chimed in. Then I asked to put the mules away specifically on that last day. It became pointless once it was known there was no beta to hoard. (thank you Q for acknowledging it as a strategy, not of yours, you know what i mean girlfriend ;) )

I noted the hosts were upset, if it wasnt official thats fine. They were so good to the DIS people, I just wanted to help them extra on their last day so that kids could get their dreams.

In retrospect, I wish that I had put out a half dozen mules every chance I got so that I could have won some of these rare items and GIFT them to people who weren't so lucky.

I can't decide if it's more disappointing to hear people bragging about how much they got, or whining about what they didn't get.

I didn't wind up with very much when I see what others list that they have received, but I'm grateful for what I've received because I know it is more than some.

I'm also grateful for the patience and kindness of our hosts this month, espeically Hula who seemed to always be going above and beyond to make sure that people got their ears.

But most of all, I'm grateful for the time that I spent joking around with my friends while we waited in the room. To me, the time spent strengthening friendships with people is the greatest dream I was gifted all month long.
