Muffins muffins everywhere... YUCK!

I opened this thread, expecting to read about food. :rotfl:

Guess I was wrong. :lmao: :rotfl2:

FTR, I agree with the OP. Some of these women I just shake my head at, think "how in the world do they leave the house looking like that?" and keep walking. :rotfl:

I also agree that low rise don't flatter anyone. I dont' care if you are a size 0 and weigh 90 lbs...they still don't look good!!

OMG yes , yes, YES!!!!
I say that every year as I search for a shirt that has a bit of a sleeve!!
who the heck designs those no sleeve shirts for the avenue and Lane byrant!!
I thought maybe I was the only woman who did not want to accentuate my upper arm!!

I share your pain!! It does make it easy to narrow down the selection, anything that's sleeveless is automatically out. Anything with elastic at the sleeve is out - some designer was smoking funny cigarettes when they decided to accent upper arm flab with elastic. :scared1: There is usually one or two tops I really really like the cut on and buy in every color.

And for my winter rant at Lane Bryant - enough already with the acrylic sweaters!!! I have succumbed to the cuteness one too many times to fall for it again. After 3 washes the acrylic is pilled and nasty and looks cheap and tacky. The cotton and cotton blend sweaters sell for the same price and are so much more durable.

Back on the topic of muffin tops - just because they sell a style in your size (or you can squeeze into a size or 2 smaller) doesn't mean you should wear it!!!!

Well if a guy can have a beer belly then it shoud also be acceptable for women to have muffin tops. I don't care about either one as long as i don't see the actual flab hanging over.

Well I think that's the exact problem that the OP is talking about...that the style IS to have it spill over and be visible.

I HATE HATE HATE low rise pants and wish they would go out of style forever! They do not look good on ANYONE, do you hear me skinny folk?? They don't even look good on you, much less on bigger gals!

They give EVERYONE a muffin top even if you are a size two!

Well I totally disagree with that. If you buy something that fits you, and fits even if you need to bend, and if you buy a longer top, then they look just fine.

On a similar note, it'd sure be swell if they'd make some short-sleeved shirts in the summer that, um, STILL HAD SLEEVES. Not all of us wish to display arm flab for all the world to see, folks! Sheesh.

Old Navy online (only), perfect fit tee-shirts. Lovely simple shirts!

The problem is that all too often you can see the actual flab on display. Usually with low rise jeans - way too low rise on many people...

My sister in law once told me,after me asking about this very thing, that she saw a report on her local new that it was a fashion statement with the kids, that they would purposely buy jeans too tight in order to get the desired muffin top. WEIRD. I have spent my whole life trying to cover up fat.

I am a big girl- and before I leave the house I always check for unsitely bulges. But DH's family all have muffin tops- because they all wear skin tight pants- hence not only muffin tops but camel toes too. Ugggghhhhh!! It's nasty!:rotfl2:

OH NO not the dreaded camel toe. The thing I fear the most.

I teach music to 4th and 5th graders and am noticing a strange trend. Skinny little girls, with bellies on them. Not the bellies of maybe 4-8 years old either. These are some big bellies on skinny girls who should not have bellies. Of course, there are plenty of overall chubby kids, but this skinny kid with the big belly thing has me boggled- is it a carb thing?

Has anyone else noticed this?

I am so with you all on the sleeve thing! At the beginning of last summer, I went to 3 or 4 stores looking for a few summery tops and came out with nothing, nada, zip. Every single place I looked had the really short or no sleeves. Every one, and that's no exaggeration. I gave up and just wore stuff from last summer.

A little muffin top looks good on some women. As far as I'm concerned, if occasionally appreciating a little muffin top is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Say it with me girls....

SPANX

People - If you just throw a pair of Spanx on, this muffin top fat will go away.... well.... if it doesn't go totally away, it will be modified at least!

I was at 4 year old party, and one of the kids family members was.... not thin to say the least. She had on a very tight shirt, and the TIGHTEST pants.... it did not make for a good look, and all I could think of, was - Does this woman have a mirror - what doe she think when she looks in it????
I know that I am incredibly "self critiquing" and way to harsh on myself according to DH - I look in the mirror at least 15 times in all different angles before leaving the house, just to make sure you can't see any tummy hanging out, or any... back fat.... I just don't understand why some people think its OK or even COOL to let it all hang out.

I've been wondering that too. LOTS of young girls with big bellies nowadays. I personally wonder if it's due to all the hormones in milk...

I guess I'm in the minority here. I LOVE low-rise jeans! I find high-waisted jeans ugly and think they make your tummy look even bigger.

Muffin tops are the trend at my high school. We're in the "ghetto fab" trend, skin tight jeans with a thin little belt squeezed around your waist as far as it can go. Then skin tight tops that show your bra staps it's so tight. Then some high-top Nikes. Then there's the big, gaudy gold earrings.

Gouge my eyes out with a spork please.
I'm one of those simpleton jeans, sneakers/flats, and a tee shirt girls. I would rather dance around in front of my school than have muffin tops, and let me tell you I am the worlds worst dancer. Muffin tops are NOT cool, they make you look silly.

So they really do it on purpose -- even the girls with a little chub around the waist? I really don't understand it, especially when a lot of kids are so self conscious about their weight!

Or do you think it's their way of being defiant and saying, "I don't care what anyone thinks, so there!"?

I never leave the house without some sort of foundation garment on, unless I'm going to the gym. Clean lines just look SO much nicer!

Ok.... with this comment.... I'm guessing the picture you have as your avitar is NOT you...... right??? :rotfl:

BTW - You are TOTALLY right. Yeah, they are a PITA (especially when you have to go potty) but totally worth it. The only thing I worry about with my Spanx is when I bend over if my shirt comes up a bit, and they show.... but I usually tuck in so that doesn't happen!

ok 2 men have posted and they sometimes like muffin tops? Really? Ok I can understand liking women to have some meat on their bones. But, you like to see way too tight, low rise pants with a skin tight shirt that accentuates the muffin top? I see so many girls you would never know had any chub if they wore their clothes right.

I can't stand muffin tops. I do not wear anything so tight that I have unsightly rolls. That just cannot be comfortable.

I COMPLETELY agree about the sleeveless shirt thing! We should all send letters to the plus size stores b/c they do not know!!

When I am Queen of the World, everyone is getting a full length mirror and will be required to use it :lmao:

Geeze, the girls with the chub are the ones who do it the most! I have a former friend in my 1st period, the things she wears! :scared1:
She must be about 5'5 and 200+ pounds, yet she wears the super tight shirts and pants that you can see the rolls under her shirt, and she thinks she looks "sexy". It's like a massive beer belly, except there are rolls.

Some women can carry it off, and some can't is all I can say.....

OTOH, as a fat guy, I pretty much try to keep as much of myself covered as possible. Once I was in Mexico at a resort and there were all these REALLY fat German guys in Speedos letting it ALL HANG OUT.... and all I kept thinking was "why don't these guys put on some shirts?" :rotfl:

Muffin Tops - :rotfl2:

A guy friend of mine who is a bit clueless calls them "bagels". :confused3

Oh, waaaaayyyy better to have muffin top than camel toe.:scared:
True that, sister! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Ok, that cracked me up! Glad I wasn't the only one!

You sir, owe me a new monitor! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have to agree, muffins are BAD. Plain and simple. Ladies, if you look down and cannot see the top button on your jeans, change your pants for the love of Pete and everyone else!!

There's a mother at my DD's school who insists on supporting the Muffin look. And to top it off (no pun intended:teeth:), she wears a shirt that says "If you take me shopping, I'll be your girlfriend!" It makes me want to scream "PLEASE!!! Someone take her shopping!!!!" :sad2:
