MTV 16 & Pregnant

I have seen a few of these and what makes me most sad is the unrealistic view the girls themselves have of what life is going to be like being pregnant and then raising a baby.

Last nights episode was a real tear jerker and I couldn't believe how awful the girls Mom was being to her because she decided to give the baby up for adoption.

**Anyone else also ask themselves "Why arent they taking the baby out of there??" when Tyler was asking the same thing?? UGH! The whole thing was gut wrenching.

And then his mother said something like "Oh. Stop thinking about yourself":headache: What a horrible person she is!

I cried during that show. Cried and cried.

I would love to see those two teens have a mentor that keeps them both on the right track for the next few years. They are good people despite the awful parents that they had.

I cried several times during last night's episode. Those kids were so brave. By far, they showed more character than any other teen in the entire season of the show. I was amazed at the maturity that they showed, despite the dysfunctional surroundings that they lived in.

I'd love to see these kids grow up and have a family together in the future. I'm pulling for them!

I hope so. Choosing the adoptive parents, it seemed like they were choosing the kind of future life they wanted for themselves. Hopefully their aspirations will come true.

I was hoping that the adoptive parents would take the couple in and adopt them as well. That was the best show of the entire season. I think those two have their heads on straight and I hope that they can find success despite their parents.

I felt that, too, like they were picking the life they wanted for themselves.

I cried too. They were incredibly brave, despite their complete ***hole parents!! I loved the linked bracelets - so thoughtful.

I would not have watched this (or any of the 16 and pregnant series) and thought it showed any kind of glamorous choice. The girls are shown struggling and having a hard time with their families, school, relationships, giving up on activities and things they enjoy. None of them have made me think, "Oh, now that looks fun!"

I watched last night and cried too. I am currently 7 months pregnant and my husband was watching with me and he even teared up a little bit. Those two were very strong.

Wow, I'm glad I wasn't the only one crying at that episode. I don't know if I would have been able to make that decision at 16 they both have a bright future in front of them if only they could get away from their parents. :rolleyes1

I have been curious about that show, but am not emotionally strong enough to watch teens go through pregnancies right now. (reason is in my sig) I'm a mom, was a teen mom, and am an adoptive mom, so I'm tempted to watch this episode.

I have seen some teenagers who are more mature than their parents. Sounds like these kids were like that, and that is great that they were able to make the right decision for them and their child.

I just watched this episode with my dh and I balled. I was so amazed at how these kids were so strong. It killed me that they had no support in their deceision to give up their baby for adoption from their own parents.

I felt that Tyler was more mature then all the other boys that were on this show prior that kept their babies.

I was on the MTV site and wanted to see if they had his letter up. Turns out it was longer but MTV had to edit it. Heres the full letter.... Get a box of tissue

I think obviously it would be an extremely hard decision but i'm not sure I would call these girls brave...it's shows like this that make young girls think it's fashionable to have a baby as a teen.

I felt the same way until I saw the show.

Nothing fashionable about it.. the show gives a glimpse into just how hard it is at that young age.

Oh wow, I am a mess now.
God bless those kids!

I bawled my head off during this episode. I couldn't get over how mature and selfless these two kids were. As much I cringe to hear people never dating anyone other than their first love in High School, I found myself wanting them to always have each other. I hope they both go far in life and reach their goals.

This series really is great - I figured at first it would glamourize teen pregnancy but it does the exact opposite. It's reality, and it's good for teens to see.

It was a great episode. Ive watched all of them, but that is the only one that made me cry. So sad that these 2 teenagers were more mature then their parents.

Particularly considering their parents' screwed-up lives were a big reason why they placed the baby for adoption! If they had more normal and stable home lives, they might have been able to keep the baby.

I have watched all the episodes but only caught this one yesterday. I don't usually cry but this one had me sobbing. It brought back so many memories for me. My DS was in that same position 11 years ago when he was 15 going on 16. We talked about adoption and I even called an agency for him to give him the facts. His girlfriend at the time was 14 when she got pregnant, 15 when the baby was born. She got pregnant on purpose, her words not my feelings, because she wanted someone who would love her no matter what. They kept the baby and for many years I was more of a parent than they were. They have become better parents over the years and my DGS fulfilled her wishes. He is my best buddy and now I cannot think of any other way for this to have turned out. There have been many times when I look back and think that adoption would have been better for him than the parents he had. My DS has tried and has never run from his responsibility to him but he has been a less than perfect dad because of his age. I commend those two brave kids for making a very difficult decision but a good decision for their child. The other shows make me feel sorry for those babies as I know what their life will be like for them. If this show makes one young girl think twice it will be a very successful show.
