MTV 16 & Pregnant

I watched the reunion show last night and felt that the couple that gave their baby up for adoption was still the most mature couple there.

:thumbsup2I agree with this, I hope they stay together get some education and wait about 10 years to start having kids, then I would like to see an update show on them, with Carly.

I was bummed that there was not more encouragement for breastfeeding. They only talked about how hard it was, and not even Dr. Drew mentioned the benefits, or that it gets easier. Not one of them nursed more than 2 months. :( (This comes from a woman who struggled to nurse and ended up doing supplemental formula in addition to nursing with both babies, so I know how hard it can be. I just wish they'd had more support.)

I still think Catelynn and Tyler were the most mature and I was glad they got to see Carly. I guess I hadn't noticed the date on the original show and didn't realize how recent it all was!

I'm not sure what the show was trying to do. Were they trying to discourage teens from having sex or trying to get them to use protection so that you don't get pregnant because it's hard and you lose out on being a kid? I felt like the teens didn't have the right words to express themselves. There was no "nitty gritty" talk. Maci (I think) kept speaking for her BF and trying to gloss over the fact that he was a big jerk right after the baby was born. That annoyed me and when Caitlyn (Is that her name?) asked told her that she felt bad for her because of it you could actually see that she really wanted to tell Maci to get her head out of her butt and realize that the guy had been a giant jerk. We didn't need some explaination about how Maci didn't treat the BF right in the beginning so now it was his turn to not treat her right or something like that.

What's up with DR. Drew? He has the personality of a wet mop!

Well, there was the statement of "waiting to have kids"that was there.

I agree about Maci though. It was like, I saw that episode and he was a total jerk and yet it was like she was covering up for him on the reunion show.

The couple that gave up their baby for adoption were still the most responsible ones there. Not because they gave their child up for adoption instead of raising it, but they realized the hardships that they went through as kids and put the baby's wellbeing first and so even though it was apparent they wanted to keep Baby Carly, they knew they couldn't.

Dr. Drew seemed kind of dull. I am not saying to shoot fireworks out his butt, but stop speaking in a monotone.

As the mother of two teens and a 20 year old, both messages work for me.

I watched the reunion special, too. I do have a concern about Caitelyn though.

I'm wondering if the adoptive parents will eventually shut her out of the baby's life? She kinda seemed like she didn't want Caitelyn to hold the baby. To me, she seemed hesitant to let her.

I felt bad/good for Caitlyn when she saw the baby. I mean it had only been 5 weeks and I'm sure her emotions where all over the place. I'm not sure if emotionally that was a good thing for her or Tyler. Brandon hit the nail on the head when he said that he was worried that they would want Carly back. I know he was saying that about what he was thinking during the birth but just bringing it up shows that he still probably has concerns with that.

I was annoyed, but not surprised, to see that Farrah hadn't changed. I was angry when Dr. Drew confronted her mom about smacking her because anyone watching that show knew that she deserved it and probably wasn't disciplined enough as a child. What a brat. :sad2:

I honestly felt bad for Whitney, you could tell how much she realized she was in over her head with having a child with autoimmune problems. She still seems not emotionally ready enough to handle it.

Catelynn and Tyler were, of course, adorable. I am glad to hear she moved out of her own home and into a more supportive place. I know most high school relationships don't last, but I really hope they stay together. I didn't think Teresa was hesitant in handing over the baby as much as she was being very careful/gentle in the hand-off. I hope that stay in contact more for the positive influence that she and Brandon could be on Catelynn and Tyler than even just for the relationship with Carly.

I was a complete wreck during this episode. This was the first one I had ever seen before and I was amazed by those two. Very strong. I cried so hard that I actually called my husband and he thought something was seriously wrong with me! :lmao:

I also watched the Life After Labor show. Farrah seems to have not changed either. She deserved to get smacked by her mom. It does seem Whitney and Amber have changed a bit. I really don't like Josh or Ryan.

I watched most of the reunion show, and like several others, I was crying again for Caitlynn and Tyler. I just want to hug them both and tell them what a good decision they made.

I do think that the Caitlynn episode was the most profound of the season, and that Farrah's episode was the most... how should I say... unrealistic? I also felt like the reunion show almost worked against the message of the series. All the young moms were looking fabulous, and were able to talk almost lightheartedly about their experiences. And while it appeared this was done as a means to show support for them, (which they should have, no doubt) it made me feel like there was a bit of the glamorization that critics of the show have been quick to point out.
