MS Slow to Send Confirmation

Has anyone else experienced extremely slow service regarding confirmation letters?

I had a waitlist come through on October 24. I know this because I was checking online daily. On the 25th I made a change to the reservation. Neither of those confirmations have arrived yet, and it is coming up on 4 weeks.

I have another that I modified on October 31, and of course have not received that one either. That one is coming up on 3 weeks.

The reservations are both for early December, so I'm a little frustrated that they have not arrived yet. A letter does not take 4 weeks to go through the post office - even considering that I am in Canada. To me this indicates that MS does not send out confirmations the same day the changes are made.

1. Am I the only one who waits 4 weeks (or more) for a confirmation?

2. If I phone MS, will they fax me a copy of the confirmation under the circumstances?

I rarely receive written confirmations when I modify an existing ressie. I'm guessing it is because they usually use the same confirmation number, and the system flags it as having a confimation already mailed. At least with the online info we can print that page for confirmation :)

Since you are checking online, just print that to take with you. I don't think I have ever needed the confirmation to check in....however, the online information will not list any requests you have made...

The reservations are for rentals though. I want a piece of paper that has their name on it so that I can send it.

I wish we could pull up PDF confirmations on the website with requests and names (and without membership number). I would gladly print my own.

Are you sure your problem is a DVC issue? I don't know for sure, but I have heard, that the Canadian postal system is quite slow. That may be the problem. We usually receive confirmations within two weeks.

I agree with you though -- I'd love to see them make the confirmations available in some format online (either email or PDF) and stop mailing them entirely. If airlines can email actual tickets, it seems to me like a simple confirmation could be handled the same way for virtually nothing. Or at least, give us the option of electronic delivery.

Mailed confirmations are just a big waste of our dues money anyway...IMHO. YMMV.

FWIW, we always receive written confirmations for modified ressies -- even something as simple as changing a request or adding the dining plan.

I haven't received modified confirmations even when changing room types (1 brdm to studio and vice-versa)

But I'm with you, an automated email confirmation would be great, and would be very cost effective.

I am wondering about this too. My modification hasn't come despite two requests but subsequent new reservations have, go figure!

Disney consistency at its finest! :rotfl2:

When you think about the number of confirmations DVC mails a year, the amount of dues money wasted is far from a trivial amount.

If anyone is going to the association meetings in the next few weeks, this might be a good suggestion to make: At least give us the option of electronic delivery.

If some people still demand a hardcopy snail-mail confirmation, fine -- not everybody has internet access. But at least make the opportunity of reducing that waste available.

Or do what the airlines do: Want a hardcopy? No problem...$5.00.

I am hoping it is in the works. I know Walt Disney Travel Company just did the upgrade on the room only system to allow for fax and email.

I think when you add the postage, printing, time, etc. the cost is huge. I was trying to figure out if that is part of "Administrative and Front Desk" or what line item.

Just to provide you with some very recent data: I just received a confirmation today for a reservation I made on Monday. It usually takes 10 days to 2 weeks so I was very surprised to receive it in only 5 days. Also, I always get a confirmation when I make a modification.

I would prefer the option of receiving confirmations via email and/or being able to print them out by logging onto the member's website.

Made threee reservations for April at BCV and got confirmations in a week or two. Made modifications to the ressies by adding a day, plus made three more reservations adding two more days at OKW to extend our stay after BCV. None of those confirmations ever came. After three weeks I called and asked them to send the confirmations. They came in less than a week, but they missed one. I should have gotton six confirmations, but only got five. Called again to check to make sure a ressie didn't get cancelled, and it was still there. They said they would send it out, so we'll see. BTW, I couldn't view them online becasue the webwsite wouldn't let me in.

Does the ressie say "dining plan?" Ours doesn't for the December trip, and we're supposed to have the plan.

I'm in the same place as you, Chuck. We've never gotten written confirmations of any changes in reservation types or dates, much less requests.

The on-line confirmation is all I need to feel comfortable with the types of accommodations or dates. And put me down as agreeing that e-mail confirmations would be an improvement over paper ones. I know that there will be those who don't have e-mail access so I'm guessing it could be optional. That's what my bank did with the statements and I was allowed to opt-in for e-statements. I prefer it that way, and with DVC it could even be a cost reduction with improved turnaround to members.

Yes.

The most recent one I have was for a change I made to the trip we just completed on Thursday. On Jun 19, I modified the ressie by adding the dining plan, and they sent me a new confirmation. Right after our Non-smoking for medical reasons request, it says "Disney Dining Plan has been added to your reservation." It's in all caps, just like the request is.

I'll be getting another confirmation soon and I'll let you know how that is worded. On that one, we added the dining plan at the same time we made the ressie.

Thanks for the info. I'll send MS an e-mail and ask. I made dining ADR's through MS and all seemed fine. Especially regarding the Candlelight Processional, (we've booked 2 and I wondered if Dining Plan would "work" for both) the CM could tell we had it. They still take the CC# in case we don't show and don't cancel. Our only request is listed as Non-Smoking.

Bobbi :)

I made reservations at AKL - some nights with cash and 2 nights with points. I received the confirmation letter for the cash nights, but no letter yet for the nights using points. The reservation was made over a month ago for an early Dec. vacation. Should I get nervous? :confused3

I just had a similar problem. I made a reservation the end of Oct for late Sept 2007. I have called 3 times for a written confirmation and still have yet to receive one. What's going on at DVC? :confused3

Made a reservation via email the end of Oct. for a June 2007 trip using points. No written confirmation received as yet. The points have been removed from the account (ascertained via member website), so I'm fairly confident that the reservation is in place. I do like to double check the requests, though. Don't mind if I receive an email confirmation or mailed one. I just like to have something official in hand if there are any discrepancies.
