Hello, I'm currently in process to close on a resale at OKW. They say our contract won't close until mid-late August. We were planning to take a vacation the first part of October. Before our DVC decision came about I got reservations on the 5+2 special they had, but the problem is I don't want to cancel that if our DVC contract falls through or we can't get a room. I was wondering what is the number to call and make DVC reservations? I wanted to call and see if I could at least check availability for the weeks we are planning... Do I just call the standard 407-wdisney number? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

It's my understanding that Member Services will not assist you if you are not a member yet. Even if there is availability now, there is no guarantee that there will be anything next month. I'd keep your ressies until you have closed.

Check your cancelation policy on your rooms. I would think that you would not be penalized for canceling over 30 days in advance.

Good luck! Hopefully we can welcome you home soon!

Oh yes the secret number that no one is supposed to see kind of like the old web site that people were upset that non members were loging on to.

Members pay for these things--I don't understand the attitude of some here about this matter. Members only means just that-

If they really wanted to keep it a secret they wouldn't post it on one of the main pages on the site.

Just think maybe next time when you are trying to call and the line is busy, its probable all those non members using the members phone # , that all us members pay dues to supporting "member service".:teeth

udflyer00 you will need your members # in order to call MS, that is the first thing they ask for so they can help you with your ressies. Oct is a busy month because of the food & wine fest at epcot, i thought i read bwv & bcv were sold out . if you would like to post your dates , either i could or another member could call tomorrow to see what is available for you. but keep in mind if something is available now doesnt mean it will be when you are ready to make your ressies. good luck and welcome home!

Thanks to all for the responses... Yeah that was a noob questions and I appologize... I am still in the learning process.. :)

No need for an apology - nothing wrong with asking a question!

We've all been there and understand why you are anxious. Hope your resale goes smoothly and the time you want is available when you call.

Best wishes -

We have given the number to numerous people that have rented points from us so they can confirm the ressie on their own and never had any issues with this.

Just an FYI for the original poster...I called MS this morning to see if there was availability to add Friday and Saturday nights during our October trip. There was availability at EVERY DVC resort except VWL. Depending on what size unit you are looking for, I think if you are flexible about where you stay, you just might get something.

Don't want to be the MS police, here, but LisaSt and other members should realize that giving a renter the MS number to confirm a reservation is also inappropriate. and MS is not supposed to talk with renters in these circumstances. Indeed, MS will not only ask for the member number but usually also for who they are speaking to--only members and associate members technically are allowed to use Member Services. Member Services is exactly what it says--MEMBER services. Period. This may seem harsh, but MS does often get overwhelmed by calls and adding additional calls from nonmembers or renters really does not help things.

We have never had an issue with waiting times while on hold. Honestly if you call and are on hold you can do one of 2 things stay on hold which is generally not very long of a wait or hang up and call back. Our renters are very happy that we include the number for MS as it gives them piece of mind that they can be confident they have a reservation. A number of people are very sceptical about renting so if you can do something like this to ease their mind and make them a little more at ease with the process it is well worth it for both parties. I also will make a not on the res that I have given the the person the number so they can call and check on the reservation and MS has never had a problem with this.

Is is just me, because when I call they ask for my member number, then they ask for the last four digits of my social security number, then they ask me to confirm home phone number, then they ask me to confirm home address.

And as a service to MEMBERS who rent, the renter can call and confirm the ressies.
