MS Called Me Regarding Kidani Counter Service

I sent an email to DVC a couple of days ago. Someone from DVC called me today and said that there is no intention of putting in a counter service area at Kidani. But they are "welcoming all the concerns and comments from DVC members".:sad1:

UPDATE
I have now received 2 calls from MS ref my email request for CS in Kidani. No real information just replying to my email, Which I do appreciate,. In the "wait and see" group I guess. I would recommend keeping up the email requests someone is paying attention...Shawnpirate:

Does anyone know how long it takes to walk to Mara from Kidani. I understand it depends on where you room is, but maybe from the furthest out at Kidani, to Mara? How is it in comparison, to other larger resorts and the CS location. SUch as CBR, POP, Poly?

I'd say 12-15 minutes max at a normal pace. Less for some room locations and when you learn the shortcuts. And given the bus setup you really only have to worry much about the walk back.

That's about the same from VWL to Roaring Forks, depending on room location.

OK...We received ANOTHER call today, makes the 3rd one, from MS. Spoke with "Joy" and she said they have been receiving alot of mail, email and phone calls for CS at Kidani. She encouraged us to be patient that its being looked at and "may be on the meeting agenda" this fall....all and all a positive call. Shawnpirate:

Interesting... does that mean that building a CS at Kidani might be something that comes out of our maintenance fee?

I received a call today also, following up on my email. They thanked me for staying at Kidani and said that my comments would be taken into consideration. The CM was very nice.

I wonder if DVC ever does any focus groups when planning new resorts. Some things are pretty obvious. Like only 1 set of elevators in a huge building like BWV, which they later admitted was a mistake.

I just returned from Kidani Village today. I spoke to one of the bartenders at the Magi Pool Bar.

He told me about the private dining options. He showed me a a decent menu for adults and a kids menu. He said if you want ot order food just pick up this phone, order your food and take this number to your seat so your deliver person can find you.

My daughter ordered a kids pizza that came with carrot sticks, a fruit cup, and chocolate cake. The food was delivered to us in under 30 minutes.

As I mentioned there were adult options as well. Some were very expensive; like pork ribs for $20.99 which included a side and dessert I believe.

Additionally, there is breakfast food located in the gift shop. Granted it's not hot food like eggs and bacon, but there are cold cereals, and breads to choose from. There's also coffee, tea, and soda for refillable mugs.

I have photos of all this, but I can't post yet since photobucket is doing site maintenance right now.

Missed a call yesterday from DVC, as at work, but got another call today to say they had got my email and it would be forwarded to the relevant department!

I don't believe members have any stake in resort restaurants so I don't see how construction fees could be passed-on to members. We don't even pay operating costs for dining locations.

Tim, don't we pay for the underlying space including dues on the common areas, upkeep of the area and utilities and without participating in the monetary returns (and risks)?

Yeah, you're probably right. The costs for utilities, property taxes, janitorial, etc. may all be wrapped up in dues.

But we shouldn't be paying for any supplies, food prep materials or staffing for dining locations. And since we don't share in the revenues from restaurants, I don't see how owners could be billed for related construction costs.
