MR October 28, 2012 "Halloween Time"

My girlfriend and I will be there for this cruise. I was just wondering what costumes other adults here will be dressing up as ?

Hi Jay!
Welcome!! :wave2:

We won't be dressing up, just the kiddos. I am sure there will be others dressed up for both Halloween and pirate night. What are you guys going dressed as?

Hi All,

Thanks for all the info you've shared!
This is our 1st family cruise and we're excited!!!

I'd like to ask the pros and cons of the dining/seating times.

Thank you!

Hi Everyone,

Our family is going through some stressful changes that are going to take up a lot of my extra time up until the cruise. For this reason, I am afraid that I need to withdraw from the FE group, as much as I hate to. I won't have the ample time I need to make my FEs for you all and I don't want to hand out anything that I won't be happy with.

Please remove us from the FE list. I look forward to seeing what everyone got in the post-cruise thread! :thumbsup2

I can't believe that our cruise is around the corner, we are so excited for this ~much needed~ vacation!

We will do the initial meet and greet, and will try to do the ladies only meet as well.

I did late dining last cruise because it was only hubs & I. It does last a long time and I don't think our kids could last that long with being busy all day too. This is our first time doing early dining.

Welcome! Its great to see new people pop up on the thread! Who are you traveling with?

A couple of questions for my fellow travelers who have a few cruises under their belt.

Food - How is the food on this cruise? I told my husband it must be pretty good or people would not return so many times. :rotfl2:

Gym - It is free right? How do you go to it? Through the spa? Are there any good suggested times to go?

Shuttle - Is there a shuttle from LAX to the terminal? If yes, how do I get info on it?

Palo - where do we see if there are any openings?

Thanks for your help.

Good to see you Kidlette! How are you guys doing over there?

Hi Jessica. We're doing alright I guess, still here. Things have gotten a little worse for the cruise. I just let go of my unemployment, so I had to cancel my spa treatments. Ryan is also SUPER depressed because we got rid of his car last weekend so we could have a lower car payment. I feel so bad for him - the car is as BASIC as it gets...crank windows and everything! He's always had BMW's or Mini Coopers, so to get a crank window, power-nothing Kia is killing him! :( I feel bad for him, but it's necessary at this point. Sadly, we might need to give up our DVC membership after the cruise. We'll see if it comes to that. Lorelai is doing well though! I'm going to post some things/questions about her in just a minute :thumbsup2

That's so cool. I want my whole family to join us one day! I just haven't quite got them convinced yet.

If you ever do get DVC you can use us a referral. When you give an existing member's name as a referral YOU AND THE MEMBER get a "bonus." It's always different, but usually it's money or a discount on your purchase. Last time I think it was $250 visa giftcard! :woohoo:

I'll be on this cruise but I can't do the FE. I AM going to deck out our door, though!

This cruise is an anniversary cruise for us so I *HOPE* to be spending a lot of time with the husband.

We are the same - no FE but we will be decorating our door!
It is also our anniversary! Technically it's 2 days before the sailing, but this is our anniversary trip! It's hard to believe we will be married 10 years! How many years are you celebrating?

My girlfriend and I will be there for this cruise. I was just wondering what costumes other adults here will be dressing up as ?

None, sorry. We are dressing up the baby and that's it. Adult costumes - GOOD adult costumes are just too expensive. Have fun dressing up though!

I'd like to ask the pros and cons of the dining/seating times.

Dining times really are a personal preference. Generally, people with small children take early seating so that their kids aren't waiting until 8pm for dinner. Disney REQUIRES that children eat with their parents - kids CAN NOT stay in the kids clubs for dinner times. It's Disney's way of making sure parent's don't just dump their kids in the kids clubs. Quality family time, you know? Usually couples without kids like the late seating because (a) fewer kids at dinner; (b) fewer kids at the show; (c) gives you more time in port before you have to get back to the ship for dinner. Anyway - those are the main pros for each. The menu's are, of course, the same - so there's no difference there. Each dining time has it's own show time, so there's no problem there either. If you want to stay up later and have longer time in ports, then late seating is probably for you. If you're an early bird and/or have young kids - early is for you.

Sorry to hear it but you have been removed. :(

Hey all  It's almost time to set sail! :sail: Starting tomorrow we can all say, "my cruise is next month" :woohoo:

Lorelai is doing well. She's 7.5 months old now and fantastic! We think she's "advanced" - but she is our daughter so we would think that :lmao: She was rolling, crawling, and standing months ago (she actually stood before she crawled), and now she's already started to stand at the couch and take steps to walk down it! :woohoo: No joke, only 7.5 months old and she walks down the couch all by herself! Who knows, maybe she'll walk a little by the time of the cruise! She says "dadda" "mama" and makes lots of noises. Granted, she doesn't know that we are mama and dadda, she's just practicing her consonants. But hey - I'll take it! And she loves to scream, but in a happy way. Shes DEFINITELY beginning to find her voice. :thumbsup2 Her growth spurts are also continuing. I don't remember if I mentioned it, but at birth and through her first few months she was in the bottom 20% for height but then, a few months ago, she evened out and reached the middle at 47%. Well, she's kept on track with that. I was astonished when she grew a whole inch in 3 weeks!! :scared1: Her sleeping has been funky though, which is disconcerting. She's ALWAYS slept through the night, and now...not so much.

Question:
To anyone who has cruised with an infant/baby - how do you know if they are seasick and what do you do about it? I can't imagine you can give an infant the seasick medicines. I get wooshy pretty easily so I wouldn't be surprised if Lorelai does too. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! :flower:

Food is amazing! :thumbsup2 At least to us it is. The majority of cruisers really enjoy it. Some have preferences, but if you don't like something you can ALWAYS order something different. They will try to accommodate you. We had one adult that didn't like a lot of the adult menu and she regularly ate off the kids menu.

Gym is free, I never used it :rotfl2: So I cannot remember if it is thorugh the spa or not, but the gym showers are free to use as well and I hear that they are really nice.

There is a shuttle, we are taking a shuttle from LAX to DLR, then DLR to Port on the way there, but on the way back we are doing port to LAX. I don't know the details because I didn't do any of the planning for it, but www.graylineanaheim.com is the company we are using.

You can go into your reservation on DCL's website and add palo as an onboard activity and it will show you if there are any available reservations.

She is developing great!! I kinda hope she does walk. I LOVE seeing the itty bitties walk!! It is the cutest thing! Sorry to hear about the financial cutbacks. I just got a new job last week, but we did a lot of cutbacks so I could stay home with the kids for 2.5 years. Its not easy, but worth it for the kiddos. I was not the stay at home mom shopping at the mall, thats for sure!

I have also wondered the same about sea sickness! :scratchin

We're all being characters from Alice in Wonderland

so fun!!!! ::yes::

Not much new here, but I start my new job officially (I did some training this past week) on Tuesday. I am back to management, so I am excited about that. I also get free childcare which is a blessing!!! I am going to save over $1500 :scared1: a month!!! :cool1: :woohoo::banana:

We are celebrating 12 years of marriage! We've been together for 17 years, though. We're not dressing up for Halloween, either. I just can't be bothered when I really just wish to relax. Although, my husband would make a terrific John Lasseter. :rotfl:

Has anyone gone on a Disney cruise during Halloween time ? Im just curious how many adults dressing up or is it mainly kids ?

More often than not, you'll get gaggles of adults dressing up. It is a lot of fun. We won't be dressing up (but we don't normally dress up anyway.)

Getting exciting.....fish extender almost done. Decided to drive down at 3am the morning of the cruise. We are looking forward to dancing on the top deck for the deck party.

My Husband and I booked Palo for brunch. We are only doing one excursion. The pirate sail and snorkle adventure in Puerto Vallarta.

Not sure what we are doing in in cabo. Thinking of winging it. Any suggestions?

Donna Mickel Mouse

:bitelip: We are driving down early that morning too.. leaving around 4ish, and surprisingly we are doing the pirate excursion in PV too, infact we did it on our last cruise, and we loved it, so we had to do it again, my boys still talk about it.

:surfweb: Not new, just dont log in very often, but I am traveling with my hubby and two boys, we are already on the FE list, and we also have another family that is traveling with us, she too is already on the list. Now that its getting closer I am logging on more often.
