All Discovery crew members now are on board the space shuttle and are going through final preparations for liftoff at 10:39 a.m. ET. The closeout crew is preparing to close Discovery's hatch. Officials say all systems look good for launch and a fuel sensor problem that scrubbed the liftoff nearly two weeks ago did not recur today.

Yes it is.. Geoff left last Wednesday and we did not hear from him last night. But my cell phone is always very close. On Saturday. he called to ask us to buy some books for him that he found in the Smithsonian.. From what I have read this is the Scout leaders from the Alaska troop. I started a thread on this last night when we first heard it. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=871046 I am so glad that I am going to visit Geoff on Saturday..


Morning all.. I still have internet service, working from hiome today 'cause i had promised to drive Eric and a friend to great America ( 6 flags), then the other Mom will pick up the kids..Tried to talk Dh into taking them but he had meeting all morning and i didn't...


So I will limp along until the internet service get cut...

sorry, in my panic I mixed up the sons. Yeah, I guess this probably didn't affect them. Holy scary, though. On the Today show they didn't make it clear it was scout leaders - they said it was scouts. I was soo worried.

Thanks for the concern.. it is scaryand very sad. One of the most horrible parts is that the scouts saw what happened and all of the leaders that were killed were at JAMBO with their sons. I am glad that i will be able to talk to Geoff about it in a few days.. BSA said they will have a service for them scout leaders so all of the scouts will know about it.

morning all I'm home with some kind of tummy trouble today. I don't THINK it's sympathy pains for Lewski. Maybe it's those new Memphis Rub Ribs from Chilis??? I really don't want to miss a day at work 'cause it messes with my overtime (now I will only get straight time instead of time and a half for any extra hours I may work this week).

I'm so sorry to hear about this...and how scary for you and very sad for the boys, especially the sons of the victims. My heart goes out to them. I just found out a man from NC who was attending JAMBO suffered a heart attack and died prior to all this. Let's just hope that all the bad stuff is over. This has really shed a dark light over such a wonderful scout outing. On the other hand, tragedies like this tend to bring people closer and in the scouts' case, help them to learn how to grieve and handle death, certainly not a good experience, but definitely a LIFE experience. Again, I'm so sorry this has happened and I hope you hear from Geoff very soon....you know he must be pretty shaken up, but thank goodness he is among friends, and most importantly, the ones who love him most, mom,dad and little brother, will be there to visit this weekend

I've just been trying to enjoy my summer so far. I have to go back on the 19th. I used to on the 26th practically! Plus it's during my old school's carnival!

I haven't really been in touch with eaither of them I'm afraid. Ashton with WPASADI. Caroline is blocking me online because I accused her of having other usernames on the DIS which she does.......

I wish I could got 2 months back in the past........ *sigh*

Well---you learnt some tough life lessons. Remember to always be true to yourself---people must face the conquences, both good and bad, in order to grow emotionally healthy. Many people learn this in their senior year and into college. Maybe in the future---y'all can forgive each other and be on friendly terms.

MonorailDude, FYI, I have it on good authority that you were right. They figured that they could outsmart the mods... The mods have lots of good tools to keep such a thing from happening. Live and learn. Oh well, you still have us!!!!!
