so i was wondering if anyone ever moved with a small uhaul so they didnt have to deal with a car down there, and still had there things with them?

I don't think you would really need a uhaul. When I went down my parents came down with me so I had a couple of extra suitcases but honestly I didn't have enough for all the clothes I brought. All the apartments are furnished so there's no need for stuff like that. But thats just my advice... good luck and have fun on your program!!!:goodvibes

I have always driven down with my dad in his car. That's how I get my stuff down (I don't have a car to bring down with me, unfortunately. Or I would just drive down by myself).

This sounds weird, but you might even think about putting your clothes in trash bags because you're only going to MAYBE need a tiny suitcase while you're there (since it's next to impossible to leave for a few days unless something important happens). With trash bags, you can make the most of the space in your car since they aren't square, etc. And you also won't have a ton of room for suitcases in your apartment. Just a thought...

Not weird at all! I think trash bags are a great idea. I've used them before for bedding and things when I would move into my dorm for the semester and they're kinda nice bc you can just throw them in the car anywhere. Plus, I hate having to store big suitcases for months knowing I won't need them.

Btw, what's the closet space like in the apts? I'm not exactly a light packer, so that could be a slight issue for me! :scared:

I am pretty sure they are walk-in closets. From past CP friends, they didn't have too many problems fitting their clothes. There is a dresser with 6 drawers in each room (so 3 each) plus your closet so...Also remember you're going to mostly be wearing work clothes for the majority of your day so you don't need to plan like 2 outfits a day, although who am I to talk? I take EVERYTHING:cutie:

The closets are walk-in (at least they are in Chatham). Also, you get 3 drawers on the dresser (unless your roomie doesn't need that many, as there are 6 total).

is there room to bring your own storage drawers? I dont usually hang much stuff up I keep it all in drawers.

I am planning on buying some after I get down there. Many of my friends who have done the CP had room for them

I am planning on taking two large Tupperware type things - they'll help a lot with the packing and traveling; I can keep them as semi-drawers in the closet, or I can put them at the end of my bed, throw a sheet over them and use it as decoration!

Also a good place to put pictures and stuff since you can't use the walls too much :)

I love the idea about covering them with sheets! I did that a couple weeks ago! I have two that I stacked on top of each other and covered with a nice beige duvet cover that I have and I use it as a nightstand now lol. It actually looks pretty nice!

That is an AWESOME idea.. thank you! I have big plastic tubs and what not and that is a great idea for a way to use them. I am so bad with decoration and storage and what not.. I need all the help I can get!!

THANKS Everyone! I am no way a decoration person either, but I just thought it might be a good idea and my husband's family purchased the plastic tubs for me for Christmas!

So I have never been to Florida before. How is it living there? On your days off, is there stuff around Orlando to go do? Man I hope I get into the CP... haha

It's great! I loved going to the theme parks on my day off, as well as Downtown Disney. It's soooo much fun.

Orlando is awsome, If you get tired of disney there is Sea world, Nickelodeon studios, Wet n' Wild, and International drive. Tampa is also about 2 hours away and Busch gardens is there. So theres plenty to do

Orlando is great!!!! to add on to what everybody else says...you also have Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios!!!! THAT ROCKS!!! I GO EVERY YEAR!!! But they also have Medieval Times....I love their chicken!!! you have several malls and you have islands of adventure!!! have you all herd about hogwarts???? yea they are building hogwarts in Islands of adventure!!!! i am soooooooo excited!!!:) :)

I know! I can't wait for the HP park to open!!:yay: :woohoo:

What I had were two big plastic storage bins, and a ton of suitcases that fit inside of each other. The two storage bins I stacked and put by my bed with a nice curtain over it that I got at Walmart. It made a nice bed-side table, and I kept all my papers in the top one so I knew where they were, but my roomies won't misplace them lol. And because I had those "fit inside each other" suitcases, I had enough room for everything. I also got these things from Target that raised the height of my bed. They added a bit more storage room.

The Vista Way closets are walk in also. And each student as a locker. Keep it locked though, we found out that someone in my apartment hid her alcohol in another CPs locker so if anyone came, the latter would get termed, and not her. (We were under 21). Turns out the first one did get termed, not the one who would have been "framed", but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

But remember, you'll probably leave with more stuff than you came with!! With all the discounts and everything, it's almost impossible to not buy stuff! Property Control is the best!
