moving money when canceling ?

We currenly have reservations at both ASMu ($104/night) and CSR ($121.night) for later this month. We have prepaid the ASMu and I used Amex for the deposit of CSR. As we count down to departure date, since I can't seem to get more of a discount at AS I'll probably cancel that. What I'd like to do is move the money to our CSR reservation to have it "on account" I have the reservations under separate names. It will result in CSR being overpaid. anyone ever had trouble doing this? Do they insist on refunding?

It would be my guess you will have trouble doing that - with the reservations in different names you can't be both people on the phone.

I see that you got the AMEX discount at CSR (rack rate 180 plus tax for Peak), did you see if rooms were available at ASMu with the AMEX discount, that should save you quite a bit. ~~

Technically, they do let you overpay. However, if the CSR ressie was made using the AMEX code, I don't think they'll let you. I was specifically told that the blance of my ressie needed to be applied to the AMEX card. So, in your situation, I'm not sure how they'd handle it due to the AMEX code.

SuzyQues, yea, I have been trying to get the Amex discount for those dates, although it would only save $10 over the rate we have now. But it has not been available. (it's not the same discount that you can get post 4/21)
