Ok. I am confused about our reservation. While on vacation we got notification that there was a BOG dinner opening on the day that we wanted (Oct 19,2018 @ 6:05pm). We quickly signed in and got our reservation. I knew it was going to be a priced fixed menu and that it would take 2 credits. But my son has never eaten there and that was his only request so we were thrilled after a few months of trying to get a reservation to finally have snagged a dinner there and proceeded to cancel our lunch reservation. When booking we were not informed that it was any special evening or that we would require anything else. Came home yesterday from our vacation and am now going thru our dinner reservations because I now have to cancel one to accommodate the 2 credit BOG reservation.

Here's where the confusion begins. Email says:

Refer to your specific Disney dining plan for the number of entitlements required per person for this location.
2018 Disney Dining Plans Entitlements Required
Dinner
Quick Service -
Dining 2
Deluxe Dining 2

Fine I new that. Further down the email it says:
This experience is non-Character and requires 1 Table Service Meal when using Disney Dining Plan. Valid Theme Park Admission required.
Further into the email it says:
- If applicable, location requires 2 Table Service meals for Disney Dining Plan

Guess they don't check their emails very closely. First 2 credits then 1 credit, then back to 2.

Now this is where I get mad. The email then goes on to say:
If applicable, Hard Ticket Event reservations. You are making a reservation during an event which requires the purchase of a separately priced event admission ticket (ex: Mickey's Not-Scary-Halloween Party). Guests with theme park admission must purchase the special event admission ticket in order to enter or remain in the park during the special event. Special event tickets may be purchased at disneyworld.com or by calling 407-WDISNEY.
Note: The number of tickets available is limited for special events. Events may sell out early. Special event tickets are valid only during specific event dates and hours. Tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

No where in the whole process of making my reservation was I told that I had to buy extra event tickets just to eat dinner. Am I correct in understanding that they want me to buy an event admission ticket? Or am I completely misunderstanding the email?

October 19th is a Halloween party night and the park will close at 6pm to anyone not attending the party. So yes, you will need a party ticket to stay for that reservation.

Unfortunately your reservation is during the Halloween Party. The park closes at 6:00pm so your reservation has to be before 6:00pm.

@jalmgiven
Keep looking for an earlier dinner reservation?

Thanks for the replies. Why would this not have been mentioned when we were going thru the process of placing the reservation?

It actually shouldn't have let you book that reservation from the main dining page. There is a separate link to book ADRs during party events. Normally the time window on the main page ends before 6pm.

There were quite a few reservations to be gotten that evening. I got 4 sms messages regarding availabilities. I cancelled a perfectly good lunch reservation that day for dinner and it's not fair of Disney to say after the fact that I need to buy an event ticket.

You could try calling and explain what happened. They may be able to help you get the lunch back. If not, keep trying for an earlier dinner. Things open up all the time. I also recommend setting up a reservation finder with Touring Plans, it will send you an alert if a reservation opens up. Good luck!

The notice about Hard Ticket Events does come up and need to be agreed to at the time of booking. Sorry you missed it but it wasn't added after the fact. You won't be allowed to keep that reservation without a party ticket.

If they got an "alert" then they probably just clicked the alert, which is a direct link to book the reservation.

I got the original reservation using touring plans so I will have to set up another one. I think I will call Disney and ask to just make sure as no where was I told that I had to buy an extra ticket.

Ah, ok. I missed that part. Yeah if you clicked on the link it was probably to the party page. I know in the excitement of getting that alert it's easy to miss it, but yes the warning was there. As @MickeyPretzels said, you won't be able to stay without a ticket.

Actually I did not click thru their link. I had to have my husband do it thru his phone as we were on vacation and I do not have an international plan. So he went thru the Disney app and just searched for a reservation at BOG and a time slot came up. I asked him again just now and he said that no he was not informed during any point in booking the reservation that he would need to buy a special event ticket to attend dinner at BOG

It's in the fine print. It was there. He missed it.

I mean, you can call if you want, and the phone CM who has probably never set foot in Orlando can tell you what you want to hear, and you can even argue with us here, but you're not going to be able to keep that reservation without a party ticket, even if "the phone guy said so." You should decide what you want to do now.

I just hate that Disney isn't more up front with stuff like that. I will keep looking but for such a happy place they sure do know how to frustrate people.

With your trip coming up in October - 4 months away - I personally wouldn't worry about it. As people's FP+ windows open, plans do and will change and I'm sure another ressie will open. If you rather have lunch there instead maybe call Guest Services and explain your situation. Maybe they can help, maybe they can. But between lunch options + dinner options + 4 months left to go, I wouldnt' worry! :)

Thanks. I appreciate everyones responses.

I just checked the regular BOG dining reservation page for Oct 19 and it lists dinner at 4:00 - 6:10. A spot check of a few other party nights had the same hours. Since this is on the regular reservation page, you do not need party tickets for a reservation before 6:10. However, I would check in on time since it is possible that they will stop seating at 6:10.

On the MNSSHP Dining reservation page, the first available reservation time is 6:30 and it states in multiple places that party tickets are required.

Regular BOG dining reservation page:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/be-our-guest-restaurant/

MNSSHP dining reservation page:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/d...s-not-so-scary-halloween-party-table-service/

I think you’re fine and don’t need a party ticket. BOG dinner reservations end at 6:10 for non party guests. If you go through the party link I think the first available is 6:30. I have a 6:00 CRT and don’t need a party ticket because CRT is open until 6:05 to non party guests; party reservations begin at 7:00. I think the confusion is because Crystal palace is a bit earlier. I think the last reservation for CP is5:30 and party reservations begin at 6:00, so when they say party dinners are 6-on they are lumping all 3 restaurants together. If you booked through the regular dining page, not the party dining page, don’t give up your reservation!! Take screen shots of the pages that say BOG is open until 6:10. That means you can have a reservation up until that point and be seated.

This exactly!! I actually think your 6:05 is the best possible reservation time. You get to spend the entire day in the park and not waste any of the 9-6pm hours at a sit down meal. You’d have to leave the park around 6-7pm anyway so may as well be eating dinner! Also, probably the crowds leaving the park after your dinner will be super light because regular park goers had to be out by 6/7pm and most won’t be leaving the party that early!
