Not sure if you'd be willing to travel to the Catskills, but MY dh and I love the Roxbury Motel. We spent our silver anniversary there a couple of years ago, and the Amadeus' Bride suite is the most romantic suite I've ever stayed in. 2 story, crystal chandeliers, gold leaf, and OMG the bathrooms are to die for!

Also stayed in Tony's Dancefloor for fun (there's a disco ball over the toilet!).

The owners spend enormous amounts of time, money and creativity on each room or suite. Where else can you stay in a room that looks like you're inside a pie? (based on Gilligan's Island, no less) or one that is straight out of Star Trek, complete with a fiber optic ceiling. No I am in no way connected with the place in any way, and was very leery of it until I got there, and now I'm hooked.
Also their Shimmer Spa is wonderfully relaxing and you can even get couple's massages.
When we stayed we got a personalized card along with a beautiful bouquet of roses, bunches of balloons , and a bottle of champagne in our suite when we checked it compliments of the owners because we had mentioned it was our 25th when we booked.
It is also a family friendly place. The newest set of rooms is based on Indiana Jones and called the Archeologists Digs. When it's open we're taking our family along with my sister and BIL.
