Mother - Son Wedding song

I found this a few months ago on Youtube when I was looking for a song for my son's wedding in October. Cried everytime I listened to it before the wedding but managed to hold it together during the actual dance. :) It's called It Happens in a Heartbeat

OMG.... I just listened to this and balled my eyes outs, its beautiful.
My son just proposed last month and the wedding will be in 2017, don;t know if I will be able to be as strong as you were.

I'm pretty sure my fiance and his mother will dance to "Gravity" by Alison Krauss & Union Station. They haven't 100% decided on this song, but they both love it, the only thing holding them back is how much this song means to them and how it'll make them cry when they dance to it.

When it comes to choosing a song, maybe find an artist that you both like, then go from there. For instance, my dad and I both like the Beatles, so we're going to dance to either "Here Comes the Sun" or "Two of Us" (I like the Aimee Mann version from "I am Sam").

My older DS and I danced to I Hope You Dance. Younger DS and I danced to My Wish for You by Rascal Flatts. Both proably popular but the songs say what I feel.

'Rainbow Connection'
This fit us perfectly, we loved Sesame Street and Muppets as he was growing up. This version is a waltz, so easy to dance to! I sang a few of the special verses to him, and as the song says, it was "magic". :)

My little guy is only 10, but I've already chosen 'Every Heart' by Sara Haze.

Congrats to the happy couple!

""You'll be In My Heart"
That is what I wanted but DS refused saying it was about forbidden love.:rolleyes1

We ended up with "Rainbow Connection" by Jason Mraz. And we also did a waltz to it.

If you google mother/son dances, lists of them are available.

I second the "You've got a friend like me" from Toy Story. My son and I danced to it at his wedding. I liked it because it reminds me of when he was young, but when you listen to the words in that context it's perfect! Of course, I can't listen to it without a tiny tear!!!

I am glad that this came up. Ds1 gets married this Aug and Ds2 April 2017. I have been trying to think of appropriate Disney songs. My older son may not have a mother son dance but I thing my younger son's fiance is more of a traditionalist. My sons were raised on Toy Story so it may work for both of them.

My son picked "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". Very fitting after so many trips to Disney together and both being fans of Walt.

When my son got married we danced to Puff the Magic Dragon. A song that we always listened to when he was a little boy. There was an audible sigh when the guests realized what song was being played and they all spontaneously joined in singing the chorus. Afterwards I had many people tell me how much they enjoyed that song choice. I had a hard time getting thru the dance with a smile because this song truly brought me back to the little boy he once was but was now grown - just like Jackie Paper.

My boys are still a few years from getting married, but their mother/son songs are picked. For each one during pregnancy and their baby years I had a song I would always sing to each.
For one boy it's Blessed by Elton John, and a funny story follows it, there's a line that goes "your eye might be green or the bluest I've ever seen" he was born blue eyed, which turned green as he grew, and I used to argue with him about his eye color all the time.
My other son will have "you'll be in my heart" by Phil Collins. Which I started singing to him when we was a toddler and in the 2%ile range for height, I used to sing "for one so small you seem so strong" because he used to be sensitive about his height.

It's so hard to pick a song because you want it to be the right song, but if you share a meaningful song, even if it doesn't seem to fit a wedding, just go with it. From that day forward it will always remind you of dancing with your baby boy one last time before he belonged to another woman.

One of my son's picked "You've got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. It was perfect!
Wow, just thinking about this made me cry. I don't know how many times my son and I watched Toy Story when he was little. Too many to count. This will be perfect for our song someday. A very long time from now...

This might be out there but my nephew chose 'sweet child of mine' by guns n roses! I actually liked it a lot! You can sway fast to it.
