Most Underrated Walt Disney World Experience

I have tea at the GF every time I go and I go twice a year. It's a reminder of when I was a little girl, my mama and I would dress up every Sunday and have grown up tea in our living room. My brother's weren't allowed in, in some of our houses (we moved a lot) we had a formal living room so that would be where we had it, if we didn't have a formal living room but had a dining room we would have it there. Mama would bake cookies and make a pot of tea with real tea leaves, since I have 5 older brothers it was really special for us. I got to go to the GF tea with her once before she died and it will always be a special place for me.
I go for the tiny swan pastries!

I don't know if this is the most underrated but the Tune-In Lounge at 50's Prime Time Diner is great. Friendly bartenders, no reservation required and you can order the full menu. I think I got really lucky but last time I was there my GF and I got our order about 2 minutes after we placed it.

Now that I've thought about I think Impressions de France would be my vote. It's a great movie and the soundtrack is wonderful. I prefer that theater to the circle vision ones (And the other movies which I find kind of campy) I've always felt the French CM's who introduce the film truly are proud of it.

Love the People Mover and Tom Sawyer Island at MK.

The Seas aquarium is our favourite thing to do at Epcot. The first time my oldest son saw manatees in real life was so magical. He's now almost 16 and going to see Lou is still a must do for him.

  1. Snorkeling with the sharks at TL and the private snorkeling experience right next to it - I think it was around $25 for the gear and a tank of oxygen. Your experience lasts as long as the oxygen lasts, which is easy to conserve. I was in there over an hour one time and took lots of pictures with an underwater camera and waved at kids who were peeking through the port hole at the ship that boarders one side.
  2. The drawing class at HS - which I believe is no longer there? I could be wrong. In 2011 DF and I stumbled upon it by accident when trying to escape the rain and it was one of the best experiences we had that whole trip. We drew Dale I believe.
  3. The silhouette pictures done in France and on main street in the MK. DF & I did one during our last trip and you get 2 silhouettes for the price of 1 (frames are extra but fairly inexpensive). I kept one and I gifted the other to my mom. They do it so quick and pick up every little detail (wisps of "baby hairs" to eyelashes). They're such an awesome gift!

A Pirate's Adventure at MK. My husband and I did it in December and had an absolute blast. It was a nice break from the lines and not a lot of people knew about it. We did it at night which was definitely the way to go since things light up that would be hard to see in the day time.

Quite possibly my favorite ride of all the parks, Spaceship Earth aka "The Ball Ride". It's not so much the content of the ride but rather the engineering aspect and the fact that you are traveling within a giant sphere.

Also, like others have mentioned, snorkeling with the sharks in TL and watching the recovering manatees in the aquarium at Epcot.

I'd like to add the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in AK. I love getting to see the gorillas. Such beautiful and powerful creatures. My heart always races a bit no matter how many times I've seen them.

Keys to the Kingdom Tour or Party for the Senses during F&W. Both were amazing and I can't wait to do them again!

I've never noticed there was a lounge at 50's Prime Time. I will check-it out on my next visit, it sounds like fun!

In general I would agree I like TIL however, there is one bartender there that is extremely rude and takes forever to wait on you. I always dread my visit if I see he is working.

Renting a pontoon boat in Bay Lake and motoring around Discovery Island and the late, great River Country areas.

Throwing out the touring plan and not having every park, meal, and ride scheduled months in advance. Some of my favourite Disney days have been when we woke up and said "where do we want to go today?!"

Riding bikes at FW and on the trail over to WL.

One Man's Dream in Hollywood Studios is one of the most awesome attractions! Definitely underrated.

My son loves Tom Sawyer Island.

All of the above.

And to add my own...

I adore sitting outside at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian and listening to the boat whistles and train whistle. It's the most wonderful sound.

We do not go as far as you do:) But years ago I gave up on park touring plans and having a bunch of ADRs and having almost everything scheduled. Now I only plan the park days and FP's and the trips have been sooooo much better and relaxing since we started doing this. We like renting a pontoon boat (seven seas lagoon) or surrey bikes, great fun.

I think the surrey bikes at the resorts are so much fun for a family (especially going uphill after eating dessert!) Also, the movies shown at the resort in the evenings. So relaxing.

One of my favorite recent experiences was grabbing a snack and hanging out on the curb at DHS watching the Citizens of Hollywood perform (incidentally while I was waiting for a Tower of Terror fast pass time). I got some great belly laughs, and now I always make a point of stopping to watch them whenever I'm in that park.

Another thing I like is just walking around on the Boardwalk in the evening, maybe grabbing a slice of pizza. Simple, cheap, but great atmosphere!

And YES to just throwing out the plan and seeing where the wind takes me. While we definitely do the FPs and ADRs for things we REALLY want, I love those chunks of time where we just go wherever and discover random things we haven't done before.

There's a great big beautiful tomorrow...

PEOPLE MOVER

Phillharmagic

I could do each of these 100x a trip and be okay with it. Also, love me some Dapper Dans!
