Most Underrated Walt Disney World Experience

Throwing out the touring plan and not having every park, meal, and ride scheduled months in advance. Some of my favourite Disney days have been when we woke up and said "where do we want to go today?!"
Sometimes we don't decide until we are at the bus stop, we would take the first bus that arrives!

Becoming a Wilderness Explorer at DAK! My friends and I once took a day and just traveled the park completing the activities, riding no rides besides the Wildlife Express Train and Dinosaur. SO MUCH FUN for a group of 20 somethings!

At MK: Tom Sawyer's Island and for food, the spicy chicken waffle at Sleepy Hollow (they stopped selling it at 5PM when we were there in Sept.)
At EP: Voices of Liberty and the other live entertainment in the World Showcase
At AK: walking the animal viewing trails. Saw the biggest gorilla that had us all shaking in our shoes! Also, kids loved the becoming Wilderness Explorers and getting the book stamped.
At HS: probably the Lights, Motor, Action stunt show. Am saddened to read that will be closing.

The Phineas and Ferb Agent P things at Epcot.
Some of the live entertainment in general that is NOT parade or fireworks.
Pirates and pals cruise...I just looked and it looks like the price has gone up, but it is still cheaper than the Ferrytale Dessert party, and only a little more than Wishes Dessert party...and you get dessert, Smee/Hook, cruise, water parade, fireworks, jokes/trivia, and Peter Pan
Sofia and Jake meet and greet in Hollywood Studios (if it's still there), the character interaction was a short wait and some of the best character interaction of our trip (including paying for CRT, Crystal Palace, Garden Grill and using FP+ at the Character Spot and Anna & Elsa).

My son loves Tom Sawyer Island. It is always his favorite part of Magic Kingom and a nice break from crowds and a chance to rest legs or for the adults to just find a sitting spot and enjoy the Florida sun.

My all time favorite. This is the place I truly become a kid again!! It just encapsulates my childhood and all I wanted it to be :) Forts and caves. Rocks to climb on , streams to wade in and rafts to ride on!!! (If only they still had the Davy Crockett canoes I would truly be a happy camper :) )

My first thought was the train around Magic Kingdom or Liberty Square Riverboat. I feel like those give you an opportunity to relax and see some things that you don't see just walking around the park. I love the little details that you only see if you are on the train or boat.

One Man's Dream is also fantastic.

Last trip my mom, daughter and I did afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. It was so special and everything was top notch. I fell in love with the Wonderland tea blend and now always have it stocked in my house. When I'm experiencing the winter blahs, I have a cup to cheer me up and take me back to my happy place. :)

I have not really heard a lot of people talk about doing that as something they like to do at WDW, but I highly recommend it.

I have tea at the GF every time I go and I go twice a year. It's a reminder of when I was a little girl, my mama and I would dress up every Sunday and have grown up tea in our living room. My brother's weren't allowed in, in some of our houses (we moved a lot) we had a formal living room so that would be where we had it, if we didn't have a formal living room but had a dining room we would have it there. Mama would bake cookies and make a pot of tea with real tea leaves, since I have 5 older brothers it was really special for us. I got to go to the GF tea with her once before she died and it will always be a special place for me.

Amen!! I love playing "bus roulette" sometimes - go to the bus stop and just hop on the first bus that comes (well, not Disney Springs, but the odds of that being first are slim to none) and going to that park. :)

I do this with resort hopping. So much fun to get to see different resorts, then hop on the first park bus that comes. PHs are a must for this though.

My son just turned 10 and he LOVES this ride. We went last October and we rode it 8 times! He even bought a shirt with it on it! :)
You watched Carousel of Progress 8 times? (Do you mean your rode the 'horse' carousel ride in Fantasyland: Prince Charming's Carousel??)

Not that it matters either way! Just curious - while DSx2 and I love COP, I can't imagine the time it would eat up seeing it 8 times. But its nicely air conditioned, out of the rain, never crowded, so why not see it 8 times.

Agreed! Too bad Disney now puts unplanned guests at a major disadvantage.

In years past, folks with extra free time in FL found it easy to spend the day in WDW. (cancelled flight, cancelled business meeting, etc.) It was easy and inexpensive to add a day to an existing ticket. Now if you can't preplan, you are shut out of most FP (and TS dining) +top price for a 1day ticket!

The disincentives are strong!

Many of our favorite underrated experiences are now gone. Among them was the Animation Building in HS. Though shortly before it went away, it became wild popular! It used to be the best place to see characters with no wait and we enjoyed the drawing class.

There's a drawing class in the lobby of AoA, but I think we'll only go when we stay there.

I think the ones that still exist are best kept secret as long as possible!

Truly though, what used to set WDW apart was just how many 'secret' experiences WDW offered. For most of my life, discovering new WDW secrets very much fed the Disney addiction! There were secret discounts, secret clubs, secret gifts/treats, secret images, and numerous secret experiences.

Sound interesting! Living with the Land was down for refurbishment last time I went!

It was down for us last year as well. I am looking forward to riding it this year though ! The lines are never really long so if you have the time give it a try !

Streetmosphere (Citizens of Hollywood) at DHS. They are the characters that stop along the streets of Hollywood and act out a story, drawing the audience into the bit. I stop and watch every chance I get. They really crack me up. One couple did their bit at a table next to us at the eating area near ToT ... we felt like we had a private show!

I have always really enjoyed the Carousel of Progress in MK. I feel like no one really appreciate the show/ride anymore.

I went on this ride a few weeks ago and forgot how much I loved it. I looked around me and people were sleeping! Guess that's how it's staying in business, people use it as 20 minutes to sleep but still keep their kids entertained.

Yep, we rode The Carosel of Progress 8 times. Keep in mind we were there for 10 days. :)
