A lot of the "bad stays" I read about are the visitors attitude. (For example, I requested a view and did not get it, therefore the rest of my stay was horrid and of course my personal fav. "I am able bodied and should NEVER have to stay in an accessible room" )

I don't make specific requests (outside of smoking vs. non-smoking) that way I am not disappointed and find that seems to help.

Interesting that you would judge other members requests as trivial, but your own ( smoking - non smoking ) as important.

Just so you understand. I know it is a request. If I get a smoking room then I don't complain. (I have no health problems requiring a non smoking room!) My main request is for smoking when I travel with my Mom. I figure that acually does most of you a favor since non-smoking seems much more popular on the request list. (And I know that she would smoke on the balcony in a non-smoking room creating MORE complaints LOL!)

I have seen requests posted in the past that are beyond belief. They are asking for five or six specific things. A specific rooms seems really hard to believe you would get. Then you see these same posters complain that their stay was ruined. (I have noticed that this has dropped dramatically since DVC quit taking the faxed requests!)

This is a great point. A smoking room would ruin our stay, I cannot breath in disgusting cigarette odors.

However, I've seen requests from people who have never stayed at a DVC resort before that are way, way, way over the line from reasonableness, that may be one specific room. I think we DVC members get way, way too picky.

Sad to see BCV with the most problems, especially given that it is the smallest DVC resort.

I was thinking the same thing. You really need to adjust for the size of the resort. Since BCV is so small, it must have a much higher proportion of problem stays in order to rate so 'high" in the poll.

Still, I am planning on staying at BCV if it is available for my next trip. I'd love to try out SAB, and I think the problem rate is still much lower than at most non-Disney hotels.

Also voted for never.
Please keep voting for BCV, as HookdonWDW asks.
Fewer people may want to stay there--maybe even sell some points :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Never a bad stay for me. Oh, we had problems (plumbing leak that soaked the carpet; no lightbulbs in a studio - all fixed quickly) but nothing that would ruin a trip, or change my feelings toward a particular resort).

Have people forgotten what it's like to stay off-site?

We LOVE our DVC! But I wouldn't mind picking up a few BCV or VWL points.;)

We also voted for never had a bad stay....

sure little things go wrong , from time to time u call who ever and they get fixed, just like at Home...

Maybe it's me, but when I am on vacation it would have to be really bad to qualify as "Bad". I have had some disappointments, but they are few and far between thankfully. Most of my stays when going to DW has been off site, and even then I haven't been disappointed as they were all timeshare, save the very first that was with my high school band back in 73. We will be making our first trip home as you can see in my sig, this coming August, and I can't wait. What finally sold us on buying was a stay in one of the All-Star resorts, followed up with a stay in the Polly last time..just found it so much more fun we knew right then we had to simply sign on the line.

BTW WDWLVR, the snake at VWL, I am sure that was a prop to set the mood of being in the wilderness. :)

As far as smoking vs non smoking, I know I wouldn't even enter a room that was smoking. :smooth:

I voted never. We have stayed at the BCVs 7 times and one of the times was right at opening. While there were a few "glitches" but they were taken care of quickly and effienctly. None of the issues was enough to warrant a "bad time"

We have stayed at BWVs, OKW, Vero and not once have we had a complaint or problem.

I do think a lot of it boils down to "attitude" Look for something wrong and you will find it. Normal wear and tear does NOT bother me!

I also voted for never, and have stayed at all four WDW DVC resorts. I've had some minor disappointments that disappeared in a flash once it sunk it that I was at WDW. You really need to think about what you request. I asked for a first floor studio at OKW, which I got, but it was next to four airconditioning units!! Not very relaxing to sit on the patio listening to the constant hum, LOL, but I did have a partial view of the water! Our studio at BWV was so far down the hallway that we were almost in MGM, but hey, exercise is a good thing, right? Our stay at BCV was wonderful with a beautiful view of the pool and canal, stayed there 3 days after opening in a 2 bedroom and didn't have one problem, and ALL our stays at VWL have been magical. Of course we did encounter a snake eating a frog, and a family of armadillos, we were on the first floor facing the woods, so you might not want to request that section if you're squeamish. My 13 yo nephew at the time was sooo funny after seeing the frog eating snake. His comment was, "this really IS the wilderness"!! He adopted a teeny tiny frog on that trip which he named Neo, and snuck him home in his plastic popcorn container complete with water, sticks and grass, which he had in his backpack. We thought poor Neo was going to be irradiated to death during his trip through security at the airport.

Here is the percentage break down of bad stays at the villas. This is based on 52 total bad votes.

BCV 40.38%
BWV 21.15%
HH 5.77%
OKW 13.46%
SSR 5.77%
VWL 13.46%

Comparing bad stays VS good stays (52 bad, 275 good and 327 total votes

Good stays 84.1%
Bad stays 15.9%

The sampling is very small so the error rate would be high. But it does show a pattern.

A quality control team, whose goal would be zero defect, would make BCV and BWV their primary targets. Of course this poll is too general for use in a quality control program.

I do feel sorry sometimes for the CMs. I was checking into OKW once and a member was giving the CM HE** because the room they requested was NOT avaialbe. He even went so far as to suggest the CM call the current occupant and tell them to move since the request had been made 11 months in advance!

Just when I think I've seen it all...I NEVER cease to be amazed!! What would that person have said if HE had been the occupant in the room and actually did receive a phone call from the CM asking that he move for another occupant?

Only bad stay we had was when we decided to invite family along. They drove us nuts! I honestly don't know how other people can do it!

Never had a bad stay. Have stayed at BCV three times, OKW twice and BWV once with no problems. BCV is still our favorite. I still don't understand the bad rap it gets but hope it keeps growing to make ressies easier to get!

Use rate should also be factored in to the equation and not just size of the resort. A room that is more heavily used/turned over will have a greater likeliehood of error then one that is less frequently used/turned.
