Rank the 9 roller coasters at Walt Disney World by most intense to least intense. Which ride is the most intense? Explain. Discuss.

I vote for RNRC as it is the only one with inversions. I think TRON is technically faster, but it is much smoother with no inversions, so I think RNRC is more intense. My rank:

1: RNRC
2: Expedition Everest
3: GoTG: Cosmic Rewind
4: TRON
5: Space Mountain
6: Slinky Dog
7: Big Thunder
8: 7DMT
9: Barnstormer

1) Rock n Roller Coaster
2) Expedition Everest
3) Guardians of the Galaxy
4) Tron
5) Space Mountain
6) Slinky Dog
7) Big Thunder
8) Seven Dwarfs
9) Barnstormer

We have the same order @BrianL ... I thought having Slinky above Big Thunder would be controversial but looks like we agree. That first left turn always makes me feel like I'm going to fall out 🫨

I agree with almost all of your sequencing except I feel that Big Thunder would be #6 and Slinky Dog would be #7. I agree with #1 and #2 but EE would be very close due to the reverse part. I hate reverse coasters almost as much as inversions.

Slinky feels a little faster, with the magnetic launches pinning you back. That said BTMRR is a bit rougher by virtue of it's age. Neither is particularly "intense" but I give the edge to SDD.

RNRC and Everest are undoubtedly the two top choices. I voted for Everest over RNRC since I think the backwards part leads to some really intense sensations. But RNRC is the only one that goes upside down, and it's intense too.

And even though it's not a coaster, the other ride at WDW that could rival these for intensity is Mission Space Orange.

I would put GotG and EE above RnRC. Only because the motion gets me more than the inversions.
Motion sickness =/= intensity

Star Tours causes the most motion sickness for my group, but in no way would I say Star Tours (or your average car ride 🤣) is more intense than RnR or EE.

Most G's I'd give to Everest.
Trigger motion sickness the most (IMHO), I'd have to give to GotG
Intense I'd say RnRC as it's fast through out the ride and it has inversions.

I think that the feeling of going backwards on EE is a lot more intense than going upside down. I don't get motion sickness from it.
GotG is debatable though. I haven't ridden it nearly as often as the other ones.

I have bad motion sickness that I take bonine for during our trips and it works great. Most roller coasters I have no problem with.

The only roller coaster in all the parks I still get sick on is GotG, I just can’t ride it without feeling like death.

RnRC is second, it gives me a headache because my head always seems to slam around no matter how tight I hold it back, so I haven’t ridden it in a few years so I’d say that’s second most intense for me.

Expedition Everest isn’t my favorite but I can handle it. Third most intense.

I don’t like Space because I always feel like I’m going to hit my head, but it’s not that intense.

The rest are fun, easy rides in my opinion

Darkness = intensity

At least it’s not like Flight of Fear where you’re like (pew) you flash straight in…

But it's not though. RnR both goes faster and has more G force than Everest and has inversions. It is more intense in almost every measurable way.

It sounds like you just don't like going backwards.

Or are scared of the yeti 🤣

Yep, I agree with this ranking.

If we're talking about physical abuse, I think Space Mt. would edge out RnR by a nose.

Most G's is RnR at around 5. Everest is around 3

Looks to me like Everest is a 4, but I think Everest is a more extended period down in the spirals outside. Rocking is a quick 5G on a straight lauch that is over pretty quick.

All subjective...

Well its definitely not all subjective as some of the things like speed and G force are actual things that we can measure, which would be quite objective. The only major subjective part would be going upside down vs backwards and which each person prefers.

The highest G force spike from RNR does not occur from the acceleration, but from the start of the loop where the direction changes sharply while going at a high speed, so no it is not more tame than Everest.

Higher speed, more direction change, inversion, higher g force, etc. on RNR vs just backwards with slower speed, less direction change, less Gs for Everest.

Oh and the vast majority of sources say 3Gs for Everest, not 4

RNRC was my first ride, on my first visit to Disney back in 2005. My very first and last. I about died!😆😆😆😆😆
