Most hated baby names

All the Quinns I know are male. Like The Mighty Quinn.

I tend to think of Quinn Cummings; the child actress who was in The Goodbye Girl (and a lot of other film and TV roles at the time.) She is now retired from film and makes her living as a mommy blogger.

I like the name Quinn, but I love Cora! It has always reminded me of the little girl on the movie Titanic (maybe not a great thing) and I especially think Callum and Cora adorable:thumbsup2

I LOVE Cora, but my DH is totally not on board. Our name styles are completely different!

I know a little girl named Quinn. The name really suits her.

I kind of like the name Finley for a girl, but it didn't go with our last name at all.

Tess is another name I like. Dh wouldn't go for it.

That's funny - Finlay was our choice if we were having another boy. I guess because we were so set on it for a boy's name, I have trouble envisioning a girl with the name!

See now when I hear Quinn I think of a male. It just sounds masculine to me.

That is my fear. I think it's a cute girl's name, but it really sounds like more of a boy's name to me. Especially since I generally prefer "girly" girl names.

Ugh, baby names are hard! :rotfl: We have a month to decide.... but I have a feeling it might just come down to the possession rule.... :rolleyes1

my grandson's name is a -den name and we love it. He is named Risden after my grandfather, father and brother and it has been the family for years. I have a cousin that also has that name and actually have never seen the name used outside our family.

We had a hard time naming our second. It got to the point where we were 2 weeks away from the due date and I told dh that either he needed to come up with a decent suggestion or go with the name I wanted. He didn't come up with anything, so we went with my top choice. He picked the middle name.

My 2nd dd was actually named while we were on the way to the hospital 30 min before my scheduled induction... You have plenty of time! lol

My first DD was named while I ws in labour. We just couldn't agree on anything until the last moment. We went with Bronwyn. Of all three of my kids names Bronwyn is still my fave. My other two are Trenton and Autumn.

When I saw the title of this thread the first name that popped into my mind was Makayla. It's just personal opinion but it - along with the other "Mc"names - is my personal least fav trendy name.

I once knew a woman who was a die hard animal rights activist who named her son Hunter!

:lmao::thumbsup2 Now those beat any name on that first list.

I heard that things did not go very well to say the least between two brothers named Caine and Able. So I think I would not choose either of those names.

If you are going to name your baby Quinn boy or girl please spell it that way. Kwinn, Kwynn or any other variation looks absolutley ridiculous and trashy.

My sister's name is Michalea. (Spelt different from the list). I, personally, love her name but that is probably because I love her. :goodvibes I also have always liked the name Aidan. I am happy to see none of my kids names are on that list! Whew. But honestly, I have received more than one comment about my son's name. (Seamus). People love it or hate it. I love it and my husband is from Ireland, so....all 4 kids have Irish names. ;) Poor kid gets called SEE-MUS all the time though. (It is pronounced SHAY-MUS). I say that several times a month. Lol

So I guess I didn't do to well in the baby naming department according to the writer of this article. To top it off, I married a man whose boring name is on the list. People must hate getting Christmas cards from us with the names Brayden, Addison and Mike on it ;)

As it turns out, two out of my four children made the list...I guess I did ok with the names of two of my boys. My oldest is named Andrew (whose middle name happens to be "boring" Michael), he will be 12 next month but he very much could have been a Brayden...they were my top two names back in 2000. Three years later, I was blessed with twin boys and named them Ryan and Brayden....I love both of their names. Brayden isn't just a trendy new name as the current goaltender of the Washington Capitals who is maybe 22, is named Braden :) -- although this spelling to me looks like "Brad-en" - no long "A" sound...so we added a "y". My Brayden loves his name:woohoo:

Three years after that I became the mom of a beautiful baby girl whom we named Addison Rose...We often times call her Addy Rose or Addy Rosy and it fits her perfectly :lovestruc. Days after she was born and named, we found out that my husband's great grandmother was named Addy... perfect!! A great combination of old and new.

Lynda, mom to Andrew, Brayden, Ryan and Addison :lovestruc

Personally I think Quinn looks ridiculous, but I'm not a fan of any first name starting with a Q, all of then look ridiculous as first names to me.
As far as "trashy", I guess one man's trash is another one's treasure, and Kwinn doesn't even come close to my "trashy" radar.

ETA Aren't you the mom who named their child Bronwyn? I find it ironic that you feel compelled to mention the unique spelling of someone elses choice (and that they shouldn't do it), when you made that name choice for your own child. (Not that there is anything wrong with that name, its just very different).
