What places give you "the most bang" for your buck on a counter service meal, if you are getting the counter service meal plan?

Well I'm not sure if it's the most- but wolfgang puck express at dtd is a very good deal. When i priced out my family it was actually more expensive than quite a few table service buffets and stuff so def a good deal.

We are considering the dining plan and would love to know this too.... We have a full kitchen for our stay but are thinking of using the dining plan...

probably WPE, Pepper Market for the steak at dinner, and the nearly $15 lamb and chicken platter from Tangierine Cafe.

FOR EACH PARK & DTD:

Cosmic Ray's @ Magic Kingdom:
1/2 chicken & ribs combo platter, Triple choc cake & a coke=$19.97

Flametree BBQ, AK- 1/2 slab ribs combo, key lime pie and a coke=$16.47

Wolfgang Puck Express @ DTD- Rigatoni chicken Alfredo w/salad, creme brulee, & a coke $20.15

Tangierine Cafe/Morocco, Epcot- Chicken & Lamb Combo platter, baklava & coke= $18.84

Starring Rolls Cafe/DHS-Turkey Focaccia w/chips or fruit, chocolate croissant & coke=$13.97

Wow!!! Did the regular dining plan last year and loved it, but don't want to be tied down to ADR'S this year! Sounds like the counter service ding plan would be good for us!! Also, have a fridge from a swap on here. I love Disboards!!!

check the thread "cost of meals-getting the most for your money", there is a link on there with a spread sheet of the 15 most expensive CS.

I think Sunshine Seasons in Epcot is very good. I don't know price wise, but value wise it is. There is a huge selection that may include things like salmon. The desserts are beautiful. One of the good things about it is that chances are that everyone in your party will find something they like.
But, finding a good place for counter service in Epcot isn't hard! ;)
Of course I love Wolfgang Puck Express...last time I got that chicken rigatoni and creme brulee and it is wonderful. My parents got the roasted chicken and that is a lot of food, let me tell you!

We LOVED the Pepper Market at CSR. Just the entree averages around $15. My hubby loved the steak fajitas made to order, and I loved the ribeye (also made to order). They have an awesome dessert spread too - strawberry shortcake, tiramisu, and enormous fruit turnovers. We'd bring back the latter for breakfast the next day. The tab for one night ran close to $50, but only 2total creidts (one from each of us) was deducted.

Pepper Market at CSR is great! The portions are HUGE, and the prices are a bit high if you were paying out of pocket. However, if you are on the dining plan, you can eat at Pepper Market for a CS credit...and get a GREAT sit-down meal. :thumbsup2

Many of the resort food courts also have dinners which can be quite a value - and can easily be reheated.

For instance, POFQ has a 1/2 chicken or 1/4 chicken and Ribs meals served with 2 sides and a corn bread biscuit plus dessert and a drink. If you get the 1/2 chicken with mashed potatoes and corn (or double mashed potatoes) you could reheat the next day for a great lunch. Or eat what you want of the chicken, potatoes and veggies and then make the leftover chicken into a sandwich (based on the fact that you have a kitchen).

We just got back and used the CS plan. We got the most "bang" for our buck at WPE, Cosmic Rays and Flametree BBQ. We had tons of food and could never finish everything!!

We've used the DDP 5 times now (once paid for, 4 other times free) and our favorite CS (best value?) are these:

MK-Cosmic Rays-Chicken and Ribs-very sharable. My DM, DD9, and I have even shared it between the 3 of us. ;)
Also Pecos Bills-fixing bar-yum!

EPCOT-Tangierine Cafe-DM and I shared Schwarma Platter-good and filling.
also, suprisingly, Refreshment Port (McD's) by Canada. The day my DM and I shared the Schwarma platter I got my DD a meal there. She got the 9 piece McNuggets, large fries, large soda, and McFlurry for dessert. It was a lot of food.
Cantina San Angel-DM and I have shared the Plato Combinacion and it was plenty. Order DD a side of tortillas and everyone was happy! :goodvibes (she made her own burrito and ate the churro dessert)
Sunshine Season- many choices. 1/2 chicken, salads, asian plate, etc. Our favorite is the rare tuna salad. Very good :yay:

DHS-we've eaten at Pizza Planet but it's just okay. No other CS we've had there.

AK-Flametree BBQ-again, a lot of good food. Pizzafari is pretty good as well. Tuskers was the best but now it's buffet and a TS.

BB and TL-surprisingly both Lottawatta Lodge and Leaning Palms have some excellent, very sharable meals. The times when my DM and I haven't shared our meals, we've had food leftover. Surprisingly Lottawatta Lodge even has a Cobb Salad that is fresh, good, and large!

Resort-the food courts have a lot of good options. We don't use our CS for breakfast usually. Just eat something in the room or use a few SC for pastries. As we get towards the end of our trip if we have a lot of CS left, we will start eating breakfast at the food court.

This trip my DD will turn 10 so we will probably be ordering 2 adult meals for the 3 of us to share. It will be plenty. I should mention DD is not a big eater. If she was, this wouldn't work as well.

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot was our favorite last year! The selection and desserts were great! Chinese food was really good.

As much as us obsessed planners can plan and think and try and maximize our meals - the reality is you will be so FULL from eating all day that you won't be hungry when you pass the restaurant you meant to eat at - or will be on the other side of the park when everyone decides to eat. Or you find out that they all close earlier than the parks and only certain cheaper places are open when you need to eat. Or you just ate a giant Kringle pastry in Norway (great snack credit) and cant think of food when you walk by Morroco...

I planned our travels around the table service meals - but not so strict for casual dining last year.

We ate at Cosmic Rays twice last year and I couldnt talk anyone into eating the chicken/ rib combo...but we did do the double cheesburgers with an extra bun a few times.

The pizza and salads were good deals too at several places.

Read up so you know - and if the stars align correctly you may get a magical meal! If not - go with the flow!

There are places I would avoid with limited and cheap menus - Pinochio Haus was a total dissapointment.

As a food lover traveling with 9 other picky eaters last year trying to entertain them I am excited that this year there are only four of us! Free Dining here we go again!

We also TOTALLY got our money's worth from Free Dining last year!
