Okay, my DD13 has finally hit the age where her hair is very important to her. She's always kept her hair pretty long, but has always worn it in a ponytail. She has very thick wavy hair and of course wants it to be straight.

I've been searching the boards and see that chi's seem to be very popular and I'm learning about the moroccan oil and am thinking about trying to get that for her too.

My questions - 1) where to get it. I looked at their website and the closest it is sold to my town is about an hour away. I looked on ebay and can get it there, but just wondered if there is a better place to buy it online.

2) It looks like it is sold with or without a pump sprayer. It seems like the pump would be very convenient and possibly even save product.

3) Do you use it before you blowdry and straighten? It also looked like it can be used even if you are wanting to keep your hair wavy/curly for the day. An ad I saw showed before and after with long hair the was frizzy just looked ok and then showed the after shot with very nice looking waves. If you use it like that would you just put it in wet hair and then let air dry?

As you can tell, I'm pretty much a hair derelict. Don't know much about it. I've also got curly hair, but at this point, I'm content keeping it short and just putting some gel in and letting it stay curly. Not the most beautiful, but it's ok. I do understand that she's not at that point in her life and I'm just trying to find the best way to help her.

Thanks for any and all opinions and advice!

I use it all the time. It has made my hair stronger and shiney. I put it in while it is still damp and then style my hair as ususal. I started putting it in DD hair and her curls are nicer.
I ordered it online and do not have the pump even though I would like one.

I don't know about product for curly hair, but I can tell you that you can always buy an empty pump spray bottle at a beauty supply store. They usually have different valve sizes that will handle different fluid viscosities.

I use DermOrganics brand. I love it. I use the shampoo, masque conditioner and the leave in treatment (used a a styling product). I got a pretty good deal for the larger bottles on Amazon.

I also wanted to add that using a good straightener is important for the health of her hair. I have a Babyliss 1 1/4" pro nano titanium that I really like. I have a 2" Chi, which I don't use as much, simply because I prefer the small size of the Babyliss. I would check reviews on each brand and model you are considering. Folica.com and Amazon usually have a good number of reviews.

Love the Moroccan Oil. I use it on my hair as well as my 2 dd's hair. We all have very straight hair but I know they sell a product for curly hair too. I bought my current bottle of oil in Aug 2009 and have about 1/4 left so a little goes a long way. Makes your hair very soft and shiney.

It was a couple of dollars cheaper online. I don't think I would want to spray my hair with it. At least for me i don't want it up by my roots to weigh it down or make it look or be greasy there. I pretty much just put it on from the ends to half way up. It made a world of difference in the dryness of my ends and shine and coarseness of my hair.

I haven't tried the real oil, but when i went to Sally's Beauty and asked for it they gave me Argan Oil, which tye said was the same thing. First I purchased a sample bottle and it was about $2.00. My dd13 and I love it. But, you only need a tiny amount.

I love MoroccanOil. I cheaped out and bought a knock-off at the beauty supply store but it made my hair too greasy. I have very thin hair though so it might be better on thicker hair. Anyway, I use a dime size drop on my hair before I blow-dry and it's so smooth and nice.

I love Moroccan oil. I buy it from my salon, but I have seen it in the mall at one of the salons there. You may want to call around and see if they have it. I didn't find it any cheaper online.

Count me in as another lover of Moroccan Oil!! Mine came in a pump... Called "Hydrating Style Cream." wonderful wonderful stuff. The drive may be worth it versus shipping costs, but my bottle is almost 2 years old!! I use it exclusively when I straighten, while it's damp. And then if I have any flyaways, I do a mini pump of the cream and just run it over the top of my hair dry. Not oily or greasy at all. Actually, since I've used it, I don't have to wash my hair every day like I used to. The few times I've used it with my hair curly, I let it air dry. Does a great job... I just prefer my hair straight! :) Good luck!

I really want to try this stuff!

Has anyone had any luck with a "knock off" brand?

I also use the Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner from Sally's and just love it. I have fairly thick, wavy hair and it makes it very soft and shiny. The best thing about it is the scent. I'm constantly sniffing my because it smells so great! :wizard:
