Just to be clear, Is the baby swap available for fastpast (ride) attractions only?
We should compile a list of all baby-swapable attractions.
I was denied a swap at the Rock-n-RollerCoaster last October (Had 17 yo sitter with me and 8mo DD) because the CM said no kids were allowed in the 'preshow' area.
I guess that meant the little studio bit.

Was the CM wrong?
My DW has not been on coaster/thrill ride our last three trips because of pregnancy. I want to know in advance what we can and cannot expect to do a swap on for our June trip.
Any hints?

Some rides we have not tried to do the baby swap on like Rock-N-Rollercoaster and TOT....so those I am not sure about. Here are the ones that I know about:

AK - Kali River Rapids, the swap is at the bottom where you get on, you can even take your stroller down there, there is a nice sitting area.

AK - Dinasour, you go through the building and the preshow, then when you get in line, whoever is staying with the child goes through the doors and waits in the store. Then when you swap, you come back through the doors and join the line. You don't have to go through the preshow again.

MK - Splash Mountain, you go through the line with children and then when you get to the bottom, they will have you cross the bridge with the children and wait up by where you see the pictures, then you just come back over the bridge when you swap.

Those are the ones that I am sure about. I know some places don't have any type of waiting area to do the swap. I know you are supposed to ask a cast member.

Baby Swap is offered only at attractions with height restrictions, where some guests are not permitted to ride due to age or height. At attractions with FastPass that do not have height restrictions, you can use Fastpass in the same way you would a baby swap simply by getting FPs for your entire party, having some wait with the person not riding, and then trading off when the first group exits.

We have done the baby swap on almost all the rides that offer it. On Rock N Roller Coaster we did not, although I'm sure they must offer some type of swap. I can tell you that the way they do the swap can change from time to time. I know that at times we have been instructed to proceed with the entire group through the line and the swap occurs there as you board the ride, sometimes we are instructed to wait near the exit and when the first group comes off the second group goes back in through the exit and sometimes they will give you a fastpass or babyswap pass and you proceed back through the fastpass line when the first group is finished. Usually, the CM's are very good about explaining the procedure... I can't imagine what the problem might have been at RnR!

We've used the baby swap many times and its different at different places. Just ask the first CM you see as you enter the attraction. They should be able to tell you what to do. Some attractions have nice waiting areas with things for the kids to do. Others you just kind of have to hang around. Like I said, we've used it many times and never really had any kind of problem.

We did baby swap at Rock 'n Roller Coaster several times before there were fast passes. The non-riding child did NOT get to go to the preshow. You were given the baby swap pass (ToT, Test Track and this one were the only ones you were given a ticket.) well before the preshow area. I believe we waited in the store/picture viewing area and were taken up a back way.

Sometimes you encounter CMs that don't know exactly what they are talking about. One of the few really rude CMs we've ever run into was doing baby swap at R 'n R. The first CM sent us on through the line even though we told him we wanted to baby swap. A CM at the entrance to the room with the posters and guitars started to measure our son, we told him we wanted to baby swap, and he said he had no business in this line if he wasn't going to ride. We told him we were in the line b/c the cm at the entrance told us to get in it. Our son in the meantime b/c almost hysterical b/c he thought the cm was going to make him ride. (Ironically, it's now one of his favorite rides!) My son and I got out of the line and went back to the entrance, where a different cm sent us to the exit area.

We swapped on Space Mountain. I got a pass and waited in the adjacent store for DH to get done. Then, I took the pass and went through the FastPass lane to board the ride. It worked pretty smoothly.

Others, like ToT, we ended up getting two FastPasses and that worked as quick as the swapping.

For RNR, you get a kid swap pass from the CM who stands at the regular line (with the measuring stick). You are then instructed to wait outside in the courtyard area for your swappee . When that person returns, you hand off the child and you then proceed with the pass to the FASTPASS entrance. (right next to the regular entrance) The pass stated that you could take two additional guests with you. Hope that helps.:D

I worked FastPass at Thunder Mountain today. Their Swap works the same way that the previous poster mentioned for RnRC. One thing I did notice was that when I had to go get a "Rider Switch Pass", sometimes the people requesting it would walk off or not come to get them. I had one guy wander off before I could give him one, then come back later angry because "They didn't let us switch without a card"... then he wandered off again while I was getting another one.
