8:00 ish AM is a bad time to have a baby unless you had a labor that only lasted a couple hours! Were you up all night? I cannot remember exact times(I know that's bad) and my baby books are all packed up. But I had a 5:30ish PM, a 10:30ish am, a early afternoon one and a late morning one. Only one labor was in the middle of the night. Seth, not so much contractions though. He was my back labor and it wasn't painful(to me) at that point, just too annoying to sleep. That started at 3am. The other's all didn't start until it was time to get up anyway. That was nice! I hope it goes the same for this one! I think laboring during the day is less scary that at night when it's dark.

Seth counted to 100 last night to Chad. Which means now he gets a banana split. Oh darn! ;)

I was up all night with Goldenchild. The twinkies woke me at 3 am and I was done by 8:30 am. Not bad. Of course calling people to come watch your other children in the middle of the night is the hard part- we never live near family AND all the people who SAY please call don't answer their phones... some lame excuse like "I was dead asleep." :thumbsup2

Last edited by MommyPoppins : Today at 12:02 PM. Reason: I'll take the red head over the leftie. I do NOT want to teach a leftie how to write. 1 out of my sisters 6 is a leftie.

Twinkie Daddy really really wants a lefty. For the baseball career ya know. Our neice is left handed so I think that used up the family odds. ;) So far our kids seem to be pretty weakly right handed which is good. Life is easier if you are right handed BUT T-daddy makes the kids learn to switch hit from toddler hood. Maybe I should turn my Disney fund bank into a therapy fund bank

Hi, all! Minnie_Moo and I have been friends since 6th grade and, of the 5 of us who still hang together after all this time, she and I are the major Dis addicts. She suggested I check out this board & this thread in particular, so here I am.

Nice to meet y'all!

Hugs,
Cheryl (in FL) :hippie:
:wave2:

pj - we have publixs here in Nashviile. Yet another reason to move!
what is the plural of publix anyway?
That's a really goog question, thanks for asking! Generally when a word ends in an X you add -es.

Mix/mixes
Tax/taxes
Publix/Publixes (??)

Oh, wait, I'm done teaching for the day. Time to step away from teacher mode... :teacher:

nab - maybe me and marita can split meals while we're all there. heh.
I wonder if chef mickey's will let us do that.
hmm.
we could be like "Well, PJ told us we could. And she was an employee. " :snooty:
Yes, please blame PJ. That girl is always making mistakes. :sad2: Lauren on the other hand...

The red hair? :confused3 Dh loves to tease me about that.

When I was pregnant with him, I kept telling dh he was going to be a red head. He said "no way" Just blame my intuition. Anyway, when he was born, the doctor was like "OMGoodness! Look at all this red hair!" and dh looked at me and said "You got something to tell me?":lmao: (BTW, he was completely joking, and all the nurses, whom I work with, and the doctor, and my mom cracked up)
Remind me again why you told me he has red hair. It was something about some food delivery person that I maintain you made up. The ____ Man. I can't remember.

And wassup with that intuition thing? You're like part psychic (and part psycho :rolleyes1 ) Will you let me in next time something of interest is going to happen to me, please?

I didn't know that statistic BBN! Cool- that means my kids have a greater chance of being lefties (13%) than redheads.
My redheaded left handed sister must be pretty rare. Actually, everyone in my family..ALL of them are left handed except for me. I'm the odd one out. Pretty much my entire family is crazy though so maybe it's a goog thing to be different from them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NATHANAEL!!!!!!!! :dance3:

bday.jpg

Since it's your birthday use that to your advantage to get away with something wicked that only a 7 year old boy could think of. You could rope your mom again or something, that might be a goog idea!

Happy birthday to the lil Trollop redhead!!! My son turned 7 just a few weeks ago. I bet they'd really hit it off! And happy birthing day to you Elisabeth!

RE: birthing times.....My first child had the decency to be born at 12:20pm but the other two were middle of the nighters....3:30 and 4:15. Don't you love those people who show up the next morning to visit?

MEN FOLK.....LOOK AWAY....BIRTHING STORIES AHEAD!

Also there has been a BIG change in baby procedures since my first child was born in 1989. Back then everybody (and by that I mean immediate family only) had to be temperature checked and hand washed to hold the baby whom the baby nurse stood guard over until said baby was wheeled back to the baby nursery.

In 1993 when I gave birth to the sunnyside-up, punkin head baby who delivered much damage at 3:30 a.m., I was finally given a room at 6:00 a.m. and heavily medicated so my husband went home to rest. At 7ish the baby nurse wheeled the beautiful punkin head baby (who looked like she had been just as traumatized as me) into my room and left her there. "Rooming In" they called it. (Nurse call button...excuse me...could you come and get this baby so I can rest a little?)

Still rooming in in 2000 too but I was ready this time. And this child had not delivered the damage although he had been delivered quickly without the aid of pain medication, modern medical equipment or a doctor for the most part. Poor little guy had a dusky spell the next morning so baby nurses hooked him up to the breathing monitor which he managed to extricate himself from several times during the night and a neonatologist was called in who promptly sent my lil buddy to NICU where he did not set off any monitors and ruled the unit at a whopping 8 lbs. 11 oz. He looked like a monster next to the sweet little premies. But he did not get to "room in" after all.

How did this post get so long and did anybody really need to know ANY of that stuff??

Oh well, I'm just jealous I guess. I loved being pregnant and having little tiny babies. I'll just have to enjoy it through you young moms.

thanks for the childbiurth stories lex - keep that pesky wheat thins FAAAAR away!
heh.

so I finally balanced the checkbook again. :sad2: not a good thing.
but at least we'll have cute homemade clothes at Disney while we are starving, right?
hehehe
and I don't HAVE to buy my mom a park ticket, right?
Hmm.

1. We loved this post Lexi. (even the guys though they won't admit it).

2. I am laughing at your almost 9 lber ruling the NICU because I have so been there- where the 3 lb babies look ok and the 1 pounders look "small'. Also because we had the opposite experience with the twinkies who were NOT sent to the NICU so our 4 and 5 lbs (kind of) preemies looked "half baked" next to the 9 lb kids on either side.

Princess PJ aka the Pirate Ballerina: I could figure out exactly how rare a red headed lefty is but I am not in the mood for sadistics right now. Let me know if you need to know, kay? Oddly enough left handedness doesn't have a significant genetic component though it does seem to "run in families"... the current theory (10 years ago when I was in school) was that it isn't highly inheritable but left handers are more likely to recognize and thus encourage their children to be openly left handed intstead of forcing them (sometimes quite innocently) to use their right hands.

Twinkie- half of my children are lefties. I tell them they're geniuses. Which is sort of like telling the other 50% of my kids they're dummies.

Lexie- awwww rooming in! 1989 I was like "Take the baby" ...1998 I was forced after a traumatic attempt at a VBAC, I was forced to room in. I liked it alot! Dallen was such a good baby. 2000 I totally roomed in happily. 2004, the female was born and I had been near death after almost bleeding to death, I wouldn't let her even out of my arms! She was never even in the basinet.

I am out and about tonight, having dinner and seeing a cheap movie with a friend! I'll check in later.

Welcome to Cheryl from Fl. Any friend of Moo's is a friend of ours!

Happy Birthday to baby trollop!!

I just spent way too much time catching up on posts here and there, there were a gazillion posts today.

Another forecast week, and I have to dig in a bunch of things. Only one month left this fiscal year, and Other Expense is not looking good:sick:

Back to work for me now.........

It's oko, I don't really need to know. I actually hate math. It doesn't agree with me. I wonder if my sisters were encouraged to be left handed and I was encouraged to be right handed because I've always been "special." My sisters also have cute matchy names and I'm just Lauren. I don't really fit into that family....

I want to go running. Really I do. But it's dark now and I think that falls into the category of things that are unsafe when you live almost in downtown Cincinnati. This really isn't a nice neighborhood and bad things can and do happen so I will sit here safely at my computer. I sound like I'm lecturing myself.

Other Expense... ah Marita, just blame it on YOMD and be done with it.. LOL jk

I ran an Uncollected Cash Report today and decided that our VP is going to bust a vein when he reads it. Umm, I am really glad that I am not a salesperson. It could get ugly.

:headache:

Hi Steph, unfortunately I cant use that excuse.... and trust me, I am looking for all excuses I can........... EEEK, you situation does'nt sound much better either.......

I spent way too much time catching up on posts today (who knew there would be a collective 24 gazillion?) and now I am too tired to do any more work. I just wrote a note to DD to try and wake me up early tomorrow
(TRY is the operative word here!)

java - what is SAP?

SAP stands for Systems Applications and Products it is a software designed for Corporations. It is the Borg of such genre. There was a rumor, that I have not tried to verify, that when the Hersey company went to implement this behemoth into their corporate/production infrastructure that it nearly cost them the Easter chocolate market as they almost did not make their production quota for the Easter sales, due to the debacle of trying to get this thing implemented.

I do know that they also use this system where my DH works, and it has caused more problems than it was supposed to help ever since it was implemented.
:headache:
At any rate, when I was perusing the Disney Careers website I noticed that they use this system (not surprising). Yes, even Disney has been assimilated into the SAP collective.

Oh, I almost forgot, the guy emailed me to keep the wrong picture and he is sending me the correct one.

Yay, me!!

:cool1:

Hey Steph, yes even Disney uses SAP, but it mostly seems to work for us.

Luthor - Baby stories are always welcome here. ;) Even without a disclaimer I think the men know when to look away. lol. I also had a sunny side up baby. He was 8 pounds. He was my back labor. Funny thing is being my second baby and having been such a relaxing(without drugs!!) labor he was an easier delivery for me than my first. I was so surprised when my midwife told me he was sunny side up and that was like a big deal. I guess she didn't make a big deal out of it so I didn't know any different. It worked!

My sister is talking of wanting to go drug free. She even doesn't want to do a childbirth class(No offence babyn ;) ) because after reading the bradley method books and walking through it step by step with me she really does need it. I think it will only put fear in her. That's all mine did. I am trying to encourage her to take a breastfeeding class. I guess if she doesn't it will be up to me to walk her through that too. Goog thing I'm going to be doing it all 7 weeks before her!

I'm off to bed. I felt HORRIBLE this afternoon. SO TIRED! I half slept for a few minutes on the couch around 4:30. I just felt nasty! Chad dragged me out of the house(which is what I needed) and I realized that I had had nothing to drink all day except a orange soda. Which is not like me. So I drank a ton of water and felt better. Until I ate that cuban sandwich for dinner. Which was dripping with garlic and I've felt sick from it ever since. I won't do that again!

Goog night everyone!

Night MommyP!!!

How many preggo women drinking water pics do peeps have to post before you remember/

Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Tell me more about these feisty mods. I've heard rumor of this. So you're not allowed to chit chat so much on a TR? What, is this like school, you have to stay focused? :confused3
Yes, focused! That's a goog way of explaining it! Without getting into any trouble!!!

THANKS, EVERYONE for the warm welcome to my goog friend Cheryl! I e-mailed her a bit of our thread's backstory last night and it didn't scare her away! :dance3: Of course, I was a model student and friend, so there is no dirt to share :rolleyes1

Cheryl is heading to the Mouse for free dining in a couple of weeks also! She is the mom of one (very brilliant) child like me, except that hers is a son and much younger than my DD. I will let her share whatever other info about herself that she cares to.

One interesting little fact about how we distinguish which Cheryl we are addressing in conversation is this:

My name is frequently pronounced Chair-yl like our 10th(?) grade geometry teacher mispronounced our names, whereas her name is pronounced the normal way :lmao:
