Marita - I don't think I have any closed toe dress shoes. Don't think they'd be very comfy for my toe anyway. I still don't know what shoes I'm going to wear. I probably will have to do some more shoe shopping tomorrow night or Saturday morning :headache:

Sandy - I have found it's a lot easier to exercise if I have a class scheduled. The water aerobics class that I really like going to is over until the fall due to pool maintenance, so I guess I'm going to go back to the one I went to before or will maybe try the one at the Y. I just signed up tonight for 4 months of strength training. I figure I need to make the best of the next few months of weight loss because things were starting to slow down and I still have a lot more to lose.

Cel - Glad you liked the HP movie. I'll probably wait to see it on video unless Mari wants to go over the weekend.

!

Marita - Have you been getting regular summer rains and storms lately? We finally got rain last night, before that we haven't gotten anything in a couple weeks. Yesterday our air was set to 78, but the inside temp was 81. It's SO hot that the AC can't even work properly. Our bill for last month(with rain) was $260, I am afaird what this month will be. :scared:

We got tons of rain this month, more than normal, all through the day. Kept the temps down here, except today, it got hot again.

Marita :woohoo: TODAY is your Friday!!

YAY!!! I might shop, clean, cook, buy baby blanket yarn, get nails done or do some work tomorrow, or none of the above, wide open, whatever I feel like.

DS called and told me that DD cleaned out a dresser today, why I dont know, she took all her stuff :confused3 I'm afraid she threw out some valuables, like an aunt's diamond ring and my service pins.
She found some christmas presents from years ago, going back to Atari games :rolleyes1 That's DH hiding things too well.
I tried to call DD, but she hasn't called back so far. Luckily the trash was picked up this morning, so whatever she threw out should still be around.

Announcement I just got in work email, in case any of you plan to visit Hongkong:

Over the past two years, numerous teams across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts have been hard at work on an innovative plan to expand Hong Kong Disneyland. I’m pleased to share that their commitment has paid off, as the Legislative Council (LegCo) of Hong Kong recently approved our proposed expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland. LegCo’s final approval means this important effort can soon officially begin.

The success of Hong Kong Disneyland is extremely important to all of us, and the green light on this substantial expansion illustrates our company’s continued confidence and commitment to its growth. The expansion will allow us to continue contributing to the growth of Hong Kong’s international tourism industry, as well as bring several thousand construction-related jobs to the community over the next five years and hundreds of new Cast Member roles.

With three new lands and the addition of several new attractions, the expansion will allow us to showcase the innovation of Walt Disney Imagineering in exciting ways. Grizzly Trail will feature frontier fun in an abandoned mining town set in the deep woods. Mysterious forces and supernatural events will take center stage in an uncharted rainforest we’re calling Mystic Point. And in Toy Story Land, guests will be “shrunk” to the size of a toy as they play with Woody, Buzz and all the other Disney•Pixar Toy Story characters.

When these three new lands are complete, Hong Kong Disneyland will have grown by nearly 25 percent with dozens of new experiences that will give our Guests even more reasons to visit again and again. More details about this exciting development will be announced over the next several months. In the meantime, please take a look at the slideshow to see why I’m personally excited about this expansion.

I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to our Cast Members around the world who work every day to make Hong Kong Disneyland a valued Disney destination. All your efforts are paying off — in a year in which we’re asking Guests What will you celebrate?, you have given us our own reason to cheer!

Thank you,

Jay Rasulo
Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide

Good evening to everyone! Sure has been slow around here, huh?

I have spent the past couple of days mulling over the possibility of a trip to the World in early December, using the PIN code I received the other day. *sigh* It's funny, because I actually said to Peej the other day that I would LOVE to take Boris and Natasha to WDW during the holiday season so we could enjoy the Christmas decorations. And then - WHAM-O! - the PIN code appeared in my email inbox. Two major downsides to the possibility: 1) standardized testing for Natasha this year, so the principal STRONGLY advises against taking the kids out of school unnecessarily. 2) Mr. Lalijack's work is not required to grant requests for vacation time during "peak" season, which starts mid-November. Grrrrr! Plus, there's the little (but not insurmountable) obstacle of Mr. Lalijack's tendency to say no to large expenditures. I am wondering if I could finagle some sales on eBay to fund the trip???? *sigh*

Anybody want a 12 year old boy.....:sad2:

Nicholas tells me his friends thinK I am too strict.... I am, is it so wrong for me to want him in by 9:30 . I sent him up to his room to go to bed and I hear him talking so I thought he was talking to the cat. I went up stairs to say goodnight and he is out on the roof of the garage. :scared1: His friends( that are two years older them him) called him and told him to open the window, then told him to come out. Nicholas finds nothing wrong with this and says he wouldn't fall. So we had a little yelling match. Poor hubby went to bed an hour ago, he has a big test tomorrow and got up to talk to him too. He is the calm one.

So now Nicholas hates us ....blah, blah , blah. We told him we do the things we do because we care about him not to punish him but he wasn't listening. I took his phone away and grounded him from seeing his "friends" for awhile. One of these friends I really don't like, and I don't want Nicholas to be a follower and get in trouble.

Sorry I just needed to vent.....all this and we are going camping tomorrow. That should be fun.

YIKES, Nabbie! :scared1:

Kids can be a handful for sure. You just have to do what you think is right, they will get over it for sure But sure is heck while it's happening

Newsflash!

On local news tonight, a Disney bus rear-ended another near the Contemp, 12 people treated for minor injuries, 1 driver cited for reckless driving.

Lynette! Disney at Christmas time is awesome!!! Those PIN codes sure are evil . . .

Nabbie - Sending you a BIG HUG! :grouphug: Hope things calm down when you're camping.

Marita - I read about that bus accident. Yikes.

Good morning, Moovers.

It's sunny outside and I have the day off :yay: Woke up at 7am and just finished reading the paper. now off to do a bit of work that I want to do, then whatever....

Hope everyone has a great day!

PS: Just read that Disney is having a Princess Di display at DTD where Virgin megastore used to be. Dresses, pics, etc. until end of November. $14.50

Celery thanks for the warning - were you disappointed that they didnt show the funeral?

Moo I promise, I have to get off the couch and do something!!

Marita DD may have thrown out a diamond ring?! :scared1: I cant imagine!! :woohoo: on your day off!

Nab Nicholas is 12 - its tough. I know I was stricter with my boys than I am with dd (now 12) Yet, at the same time, they were more compliant that she is! I remember with DS#1 when he was in high school, it was a half day, and he had a car - he didnt tell me where he was going - at 9pm I went out searching for him! (before cell phones!) and went up and down streets until I found his car!! :rotfl2: I could ground them - but I also was able to get them involved in sports, and Boy Scouts - which sent them camping on weekends and summers!!

DD not so much! She refuses to go to bed at night! At midnight I'll "make her" go to her room - she waits till we follow asleep - - then she gets up! WTH? Is this even a battle worth fighting? (we're trying!) what does she do? Well dh (my own special computer nerd!) has set locks on the computers so she cant go online - she reads!! Sometimes she watches tv, but mostly she reads!!

She goes to my mom's place week after next. Yesterday she decided she wanted to stay in band, and wants a tutor! :sad2: then first week of Aug Bible Camp!

Good Luck with Nicholas, I truly believe that communication is key - and community service!! (making sure they know it could be worse!!) How going about that communication - ?? (and I know you are an involved mom - they are involved in stuff this summer!!) (as opposed to my dd!)

Sis Have fun and enjoy your day. :goodvibes That's horrible news about the bus accident. Which driver was at fault? I suppose they always blame the driver who ran into the one in front, as they say you were too close and didn't have control of the vehicle. I can imagine the mayhem if a lot of people were standing at the time of the crash.

Hi Sandy Sending wishes for your son to have a safe trip!

Cel We went to see Harry Potter last night as we actually had a night off, amazing! I enjoyed it but thought there was a lot of filler material that was fun but didn't particularly advance the plot. And speaking of plot, it was rather hard to define exactly what the plot was, but I suppose it was setting the stage for further adventures. I just read a review of the movie and they thought it was the best of the series. HUH? :confused3

Lynette We just got a pin code, too, for free dining, but we already have a three day trip booked as a resort only stay, so it's no help. I hate messing with ADRs, anyway.

NAB Not that I am any expert in the Mother Dept. But from what I have observed, if your kids make it to adulthood without hating you on many many occassions, you were an incompetent parent that let your kids go without discipline and run wild. Invariably, kids in their later years admit that they knew you were strict because you had their best interests at heart. I imagine it's painful while you are going through the tough times, but you are absolutely doing the right thing! The world has enough spoiled, selfish, destructive adults. I'm glad you're not raising another one. :thumbsup2

Newsflash!

On local news tonight, a Disney bus rear-ended another near the Contemp, 12 people treated for minor injuries, 1 driver cited for reckless driving.

Geesh, two transportation accidents in a month? What's going on! Was this one late at night too?

Nab - Ugh. I don't look forward to those days. We get sad faces and a little attitude when they aren't allowed to stay out later with their friends, but so far that's all.

Lalijack - I had a pin code too. I was going to use it for Chad and me to go to F&W, but he must have looked at the email and didn't keep as new and it's gone now. If I call will it be under my name? Hope you get a chance to go!

Sandy - When I was younger I would lay in bed for HOURS not able to fall asleep. I would also read. At least she's reading. :)

I got up to having to clean up an entire bowl of cereal(and milk) from the dining room. What idiot ever decided that it should be standard to put carpet in a dining room? That's the second time in the last few weeks. Nothing like that to start your day off badly.

nabbers - stick to your guns. You're doing what's best for him.

sandy - no, I thought the wand tribute was enough. I was ready to get out of there, so I felt it ended well.

kay - I definitely like it, but it's hard if you don't read the books to know the back story of some things - it's like if things are left out, it doesn't feel disjointed because I know what happens.
know what I mean?

first a monorail then a bus accident at the contemporary?
sounds like we need to stay away from that hotel! :scared1:

To those who asked about the bus accident, here is a link:

http://www.wesh.com/news/20077865/detail.html

Minor injuries, driver in back ticketed.

MP, I hear you on the spill, hate when that happens. Too bad about the pin code.

Sis, I am indeed enjoying my day off. Actually I am working right now, but nothing I need to do, just something that's fun for me. Later I'll go out and do something, not sure what yet. Get yarn for a baby blanket maybe?

Sandy, when I was a kid, I hated going to bed too. I would hide in a corner of the living room behind the couch thinking my parents couldn't see me, LOL. I'm a nightowl to this day.

PS: watching TV and it drives me batty when people say "he aksed me" instead of "asked"

I was scrolling through Kay's trippie looking for pics and ran across this:

Date: January 28, 2007

:wave2: Backstage Gal: I'm glad you've been testing the "weakest brain cell theory" with no ill effects. Apparently the worst it has done to me is make me somehow resemble Doris Day (inside joke here with Backstage Gal, the rest of you folks aren't expected to make sense of it ;) ) As for the last episode being a cliffhanger ending, I really didn't think it seemed that way. And I was god enough not to torment you with aany foreshaddowing. Not as much as a whisper that in a future episode the words Varnish Stripper will somehow come into play, with ominous results. Or that an event on a bus will scar me for life (or at least for a few days) or that . . . oops. I'm babbling again.

I must have killed off more than the weakest brain cells by now, I don't remember that inside joke at all :confused3

Sis, I saw Nebo and Smidgy were posting there too, did you know they have another report going?

I'm over working for now, it ceased being fun, so I am slowly getting my frame of mind ready to go out shopping. Slowly is the key word............

Heya Moovers! It's Friday, and the weekend is finally here! What does everyone have planned?

1. Lynette We just got a pin code, too, for free dining, but we already have a three day trip booked as a resort only stay, so it's no help. I hate messing with ADRs, anyway.

2. :thumbsup2

1. Kay, ours is also for free dining, with a dirt-cheap 5 night deal...soooo tempting! I am going to run some numbers and see what I can come up with. Think magical thoughts for me, 'k?

2. EXACTLY the theory my DH and I operate under! I have been accused (by my own brother, no less!) of running my house like a boot camp because we have rules and expectations. But I refuse to allow my kids to become thoughtless and self-absorbed like so many other people I know.

NAB, I don't look forward to the days when those power struggles become a somewhat regular occurrence. But at least you can take solace in the fact that you're doing what's best for Nicholas. Whether he likes it or not.

1. Lalijack - I had a pin code too. I was going to use it for Chad and me to go to F&W, but he must have looked at the email and didn't keep as new and it's gone now. If I call will it be under my name? Hope you get a chance to go!

2. Sandy - When I was younger I would lay in bed for HOURS not able to fall asleep. I would also read. At least she's reading. :)

1. I think they'll have it if you call. Wouldn't hurt to try, right? Hope we BOTH get to go!

2. Me too. I used to smuggle a flashlight into my room and read under the covers so my parents wouldn't catch me. :rotfl:

Natasha's BFF was here for a while today. They swam in the pool, she stayed for suppah, and then they swam some more. Finally, we're getting the chance to make use of the pool! Today was nice...very warm and mostly sunny, with a great breeze. Aaaaaahhh....I LOVE summer!

NEWSFLASH!

Doctors expect a surge in thumb joint replacement surgeries in the next few years due to too much texting....

Too bad PJ is not around for this warning.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Don't hate me as I have only read back a page or two. Can anybody give me a quick & dirty update on the last 4 months of posts? Everybody let me know what you've been up to. Any life changes? Moo...how many pounds now? Elisabeth.....loved the Disney photos on FB.

I'm still loving the new house which is incredibly clean all the time---just like I like it. My garden is growing beautifully. I have lots of tomatoes, peppers, carrots, and even some pumpkins! The cutting garden is just blooming and those seeds are the best $2 investment ever.

Kids are fine and also loving the new house. DS misses dad but he's only a few blocks away and he goes over there a lot. He is getting to be such a big, handsome boy and sooo blond this summer. Emily has a boyfriend! (I KNOW!) He's a very cute, very nice football player. (Love his parents too) Mimi pierced her lip. (I KNOW!!!) Just keep repeating....it's not a tattoo, it's not a tattoo. She says she's going to Disney next summer to be a princess and I had to remind her that princesses don't have lip rings. ;)

My new job is still wonderful and I love the people I work with. Next week I am taking a week off (unpaid) to go and work at my old job. The girl who took the old job at church...quit! At a very unfortunate time as it's right before schools starts so I'm going to tie up loose ends and get them back on track for the fall semester. Nice of the new bosses to let me do that.

I got the evil PIN code too! Don't these people know I have at attorney to support? Heh. Maybe next year.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

Babycow - I LOVED your facebook pics.
I had no idea how much J looks like you! I guess in the pictures you've posted, she's posing and has sunglasses on.
Your family is beautimous and they're all a perfect blend of you and THE DH. :)

MELINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

I'm going to be spending a week in Lexington soon - I think towards the end of August.

Great news! My brother just called, he got mom a room in a new nursing home close to her house in the same city. Pretty much all people from her small town there, several that she knows. He said she really perked up when she found out. It was really not good leaving her alone in the apartment so long, I am so glad that is settled. She goes there the first of August, until then still in short-term care. But dang, it's soooooooo expensive.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melinda, great to see you posting here again. Sounds like you are doing well  The garden sounds lovely.
I don't think a whole lot of life-changing events have happend here in the last few months, except that TWINKIE is expecting again. She is supposed to be a scientist and hasn't figure out what causes it yet, LOL!

I got transferred to a new job after layoffs earlier this year. Even though it technically sounds like a more prestigous job, I really do not care for it at all.

Please dont be a stranger, we miss you around here.
