I think I would agree with you on limiting the kitchen remodel. I would dearly love to replace my harvest gold countertops. Sigh.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from Nabbie - must not be staying places with Internet access.

It's midnight here and still in the 80s. I'm way past ready for some cooler weather! I'm happy I have a nice cool office to go to during the day. We've been running our room AC units at home, but they are noisy and just don't do as good a job when it's in the 90s.

I could not stand one more night with my heavy, hot, 800 thread count sheets, so I went out to buy some lighter weight sheets after work and am still waiting for my mattress pad to finish drying so I can put my new, freshly-washed sheets on the bed (yes, I know I should have washed the mattress pad first, LOL). Aaahhhhh, I can't wait to see how great they feel!!!

It is going to be SOOOOOOOOO hot that it will be dangerous with the dews and the humidity too....I have the AC on and it was on all night...when I let the dog out at seven it was wicked hot already...
YES I TOO am looking for some not so hot and cooler temps...I think...seventies would be nice...
THe furnace guys were there yesterday....they turned on the hot water and there were two blowouts in the lines...so one was fixed and the other needs a new valve..
Last night we went to Lowes and bought a gas stove....I love cooking with gas and got a nice one..I am happy...self cleaning too...Only thing we disagreed on was the color...he wanted black and I GOT WHITE...I am going back to the white appliances..
HGTV....says white and black are the new IN's....so okey I got the white...hahaha.....He still was saying black but the WHITE one is coming on Saturday..

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! Have had a lovely day and wonderful seafood dinner with some of my family tonight. Alaskan king crab legs . . . yummy! My sister had them too. And they even de-shelled them for us

I think our weather is finally cooling off a little bit and getting less humid I've really been wanting to ride my bike lately, but it has just been way too muggy.

I have a day off tomorrow, yaaaaa! I see a pedicure in my future!

I got roped back into a special project for another manager again, so i ended up working till 8:30 tonight to get it done tonight so i can enjoy my day tomorrow. ughhh

so, tomorrows plan is pedicure, dusting and nicotine gum shopping, LOL

Maybe I'll make a porkloin for dinner, hmmmm...

a propane tank outside can be filled like once a year for a gas cooking stove...we are going this route because the new place ...the gas company has not gotten that far with gas lines in the street...so propane it is..
I have natural gas that is piped in from the outside street....
My son and DIL have gas propane too in their new house...and they also have a gas fireplace sort of ...to heat if they lose power...we are looking into that for next winter...

Thanks, Pumba! Yes, I am "getting up there"!!! One year away from official retirement age; not that I am likely to be able to afford to retire then . . .

And I did have a great birthday.

Lazy weekend so far . . . yesterday, I did some shopping at clearance sales but didn't find any clothes I liked

Relaxing and reading today Still hot and muggy in my neck of the woods. A thunderstorm is forecast for tonight. Maybe it'll cool things down.

Still surprised that we haven't heard from Nabbie.

Howdy..
Today hubby and our son went to the new house to finish off the painting of the main floor....oops I stand corrected....window and doors need to be done in the bathroom and closet and kitchen and living room...not much to do but enough to keep hubby busy .(THEN the family room and the big room and the rest of the downstairs..)..tomorrow and Tuesday we have off and the furance guys are coming back to fix the valve and the pipe outside for the gas stove...The stove is so cute.....I love it..hahaha...I know I am weird..
Daughter in law and I packed the china closet......the book case in the dump and run room and decided what toys needed to find a new home and what toys the kids play with and also Ava...then we also packed all my good books and she left out my kindle though..
Some of the items have to be hand held in the truck so they will be safe......Like my clock and one very old gas lantern that was my mother in laws mothers I think or the next one down the line.....it has a tall chimney that they call it..but very nice for when a Maine storm gets rid of electricity...
Things in my head that I am placing as I see the place come to a head and decide where everything is going to go...Cant bring any furniture in until we wash the carpets...those need to be done asap...cause I am getting the itch...The place is starting to look like our home...even with out a thing of ours..

hubby is now outside mowing.....the lawn got ahead of us with the 100 degree temps and high humidities...I hate it ...to darn hot for me
We had everyone eat here for supper...good ol' Little Ceasar pizza and crazy bread...everyone ate and I am stuffed.

Pumba - Sounds like you're making GREAT progress! I hate the thought of having to move someday We really need to do some cleanup in our basement.

On a different note, on FB some of my former band members have established pages for a couple of the band trips we took when I was in high school -- one to Europe when I was a freshman and one to Mexico when I was a senior. It has been great fun seeing everyone post photos and memories! I dug out my box of Europe stuff from the basement (mouse nest and all). I haven't scanned my photos yet to share, but I did find my trip journal, which fortunately was in a plastic bad Funny thing about my photos (and many other band members' photos) is that most of them are of scenery and very few of myself and band members. Good thing some of the chaperones took pics of the band! Everyone has been reflecting on how fortunate we were to have had family members who scrimped and saved so that we could go on this trip/band competition. We visited Belgium, Holland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France and England during our tour!!! Wish I had been a little older so that I could have appreciated it a bit more. I can't even guess how much that trip would cost now. It was between $500-600 back in 1972.

Marita - We did a Rhine River boat tour from Rudisheim. Castles, castles, and more castles! I still have the inlaid wood jewelry box that I bought in Germany, along with a Mickey Mouse comic book and children's story book in German.

Well, apparently I now am the proud grandmother(?) of a grand puppy!
Nicole told us today that Chris got a 6 mo. old lab-pitt puppy. No pics so far.

Moo, sounds like some fabulous trips you had back then. I was already working at Disney in 1972

Pumba, what an exciting time for you, sounds like the house is coming along nicely. When is moving day? About?

It's been a very boring day today. I'm almost ready to go back to work, LOL, but a couple of boring days ahead Mon and Tue the way it looks now. Wed and Thur will be busy, then dead Friday. I might take that day off again, since I never did get my pedicure done, rained out both days.

It is comfortable outside.......I cant believe the air .......sniff sniff......it smells so good..
Ava just finished her breakfast and is sitting on the couch watching her morning show.....BUBBLE GUPPIES...

Tomorrow hopefully I will have a day off and I can get some more stuff done here or there with hubby...cause the furnace men are coming and also putting in the gas line for the kitchen stove....

I do need to go to the store and get some brushes for the toilet cleaning episode...a comforter that is on sale for one of the beds....some curtains for two of the bedrooms and one bathroom...maybe an area rug so that the doggie wont go slipping across the floor if she is in a hurry...like to see what is outside the windows...

I love cool air...but I already told you about that ..

Moo, didnt want to insinuate that you were elderly like moi...You are probably a young chick still...hubby did have to go and sign up for medicare even though he doesnt get it for another 22 months...he is waiting for me to get to that point too ..plus he will continue working ...next year he reaches his intended age to collect ss and not get penalized...some day ...some day..

I way overslept today, and I mean WAY! Like I woke up at 9:45 I should have just called in sick, especially because work is so slow right now, but did I? NOOOOOOOOOOO! It didnt even occur to me till I was almost at work, sigh.... But I am taking Friday off again.

Grand puppy is apparently very bright and shakes, rolls over, and when taken out to go potty (where she gets a treat). decided that if she went potty, got a treat and moved a couple of feet then squats would get another treat....

When is Nab coming home? I don't remember

I thought I posted earlier but old age says I didnt...oh well.

We just went out to supper and then did our groceries...but first we stopped at the "other" place and brought some stuff over...
At the restaurant was a LARGE group of "older" people all bikers...they laughed so hard most of the time and I enjoyed listening to their happiness....

SOOOOOOO Tomorrow is Friday.......YES YES YES ...I am ready for a weekend but then all we do is PAINT PAINT and MORE PAINTING...but soon ...hubby thinks we can move in ...SOON...like a week or so...hahaha....sort of funny isnt it...

Huge thunderstorm last night -- we got several inches of rain and lost power at 12:30. Power wasn't restored until sometime this afternoon. I didn't sleep worth a darn with all that thunder so I ended up going into work about an hour late and took a shower there because my hair looks like crap if I don't wash and curl it! Thank goodness we have a locker room there for all the lunch-time runners.

Marita - I was planning to post right about the time our power went out We're supposed to get more rain tonight. Just heard some thunder . . .

Pumba - I agree - TGIF tomorrow!!! Goog luck with all your painting

Wow, we had about 9" of rain the past couple days. Huge ponds in our front and side yards -- worst we've ever seen it! I heard someone say we had a 100-year storm, but I haven't verified that. Fortunately, our basement is still dry despite our power outage Wednesday night.

Thank goodness it's the weekend!!! Hope to recover from my sleep deficit

HUBBY AND DOGGIE WOKE ME UP

Hub is on his way to the store to get MORE paint...we are doing good though...Possibly a moooooove in date in a week or two...I am thinking ONE...cause I want to be there soon..
One night this week we will take the Meg over to see the place...I dont know how she will react but we will see....you figure she has been with us for 7 years and never lived anyplace else/only viisted the kennel which she hates......

sitting here in my T shirt ..I guess I should get ready for the day...
