......and I played on the wii....all by myself standing in the middle of the living room yelling YAHHHHH strike......I was bowling....I also tried tennis too.....need to learn how to do stuff.

SO what is this wii game that doesnt cost 100 bucks and I can exercise to......any ideas will be greatly appreciated......OH YAH we got Toy Story Mania and omg that one made me ache all over.....I really had fun though...almost like playing it in Disney only.....I am freezing here and it was so hot there...
Pumba - Yay for you doing the Wii bowling! Pretty fun stuff, isn't it?! I'm not sure how much the EA Sports Active game cost because I got it as a gift, but our gift limit was $40, so it probably was around that price. It will definitely give you a good workout and you can use it without the balance board. I haven't tried Wii Fit yet. If you like to dance, I have read that there's a dance game that a lot of people are enjoying. Not sure of the name though. I also got the Toy Story Mania game and am loving that, but my thumb sure gets tired when I play it!!! I still can't figure out how to get all the challenges in a few of the games. Plus it took us a while to figure how to unlock the additional games and how the "Build" function works. But now that I know, I skip the games I don't like, like that stupid teacups one :headache:

Golly Moo I had NO idea there were so many kinds - I'll have to read the label - we went to Wal Mart - bought a few for the hands, one for the neck, and some for the toes -

(lighter fluid?? :scared1:)

In 4 days I'm going to be listening to.... OFF KILTER :cool1::cool1:
Sandy - I didn't know there were all those kinds either. We actually have some of the ones that you boil to liquefy the fluid and click the metal disc to set off the exothermic reaction. Mari bought them in Australia. I really need to boil them so they're useable again.

And I'm SO jealous that you're going to be seeing Off Kilter in only four days!!!!! Wonder when they're coming out with a new CD again.

Sounds like you may need to take a variety of clothes and dress according to the weather. I hear you on the compression shorts. I never realized until recently how effective those sorts of things can be. My workout capris and shorts are skin tight and it really reduces the jiggle factor! And it puts me in the right mood to work out when I wear them.

I did a workout during lunch at work today. There's a woman who leads people in our building in exercises a couple times a week. I went a few months ago and couldn't do many of the exercises. Today went much better :)

Mony - Goog for you getting back on the diet and exercise wagon! It's so much easier to on track after the holidays when your schedule goes back to normal. Bummer about the pinkeye :flower3:

Hiya, bbn! My DD and I DIScovered pomegranates a few years ago. They can be a little messy to eat, but sure are yummy.

MommyP - I want to know how the cheese soup was too! Mmm.

Nabbie - Hope the kids had a good return to school. Biggest Loser starts up again tomorrow!

Hi all,

Real quick check-in here.
Had a frustrating day at work, the computer system was really slow and sometimes just shut down. Always seems to happen at quarter end. The long-term forecast files that usually get distributed on Fridays were not released till mid-afternoon, which put everything behind schedule, except for deadlines! :sad2:

The at 4:15 we got a call for help from collegue at Grand Californian for help with his DVC split files and spent 2 hours on the phone with him to work things out, which put us way behind even more............

Left work at 6:15 and worked till 10 from home, and now im beat after finally getting some food.

So please forgive me for lack of commentary tonight.

Local news said today that our bodies adjust to the heat, so we are freezing in 30 degree weather, so take that, you Northeners  All ofver the news was "Freezing, Frigid, Ice cold weather.. deep freeze!!!!!!!!!!!"

DH just got up again to go in for frost control, looking very tired. I'm drooping myself here.

Have a great day, everyone!

PS: I looked up the recipe for the cheese soup before, it sounds like way more work than I am willing to put into it, but if anyone can persuade me to the contrary, I am willing to give it try.
Also probably going to "The Wave" for lunch Friday, I think I am going to stick with the Reuben.

..don't want to make the wrong gander, but ever

Morning everyone.

Today is another overcast day.....I hate these days..sort of yucky and sad looking outdoors......even all that snow we got is yucky looking......most of our sidewalks turned to ICE....we dont use the salt in the doggies area because it would hurt her little toe toes.....so we got some kind of stuff for doggies....have no clue they made this stuff.......tonight we will go to home depot and get some of the dirt they use to mix with mortar...that will be good for her toes and wont hurt her....

OH YAH we have that Toy STory mania game too. I havent gotten to a few of the games yet. I DISLIKE with alot of gusto that tea cup thingie.....how can we go to the next thing without doing that...????

SO how did the soup come out........anyone out there in freezing land/?????

besides the southern people....Our friend lives in Palm Bay and he always calls when we are getting a snow storm or below zero weather........so hubby always calls him up when FLorida is freezing and tell him that MaIne is the warmer.....hahaha.....

BBN...if you would like to try reading another good set of books with great authors.......try Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston......best part of this guys is they dont use alot of the same four letter words that Maine Native SKing uses.....plus these books are somethng else...........TRY The Relic .....what great reading......

Pumba-- we are still freezing here today. Only one degree difference from yesterday and the kids have to stay outside. :sad2: It has to be -20 for them to stay in.

Nicholas is going to freeze his butt of on the ski hill tonight. It is an after school thing with the school. He snowboards.

I stayed up to late last night. I just had to finish The Dome. Hubby was funny last night...I told him I couldn't sleep and I was going down stairs so my tossing around would keep him up. He said see you in 125 pages :lmao: he knows me well. Like Sandy said the book is 1072 pages long it was big and heavy book.

I should be packing - but sitting here with puppy sleeping!! might as well surf!! :surfweb:

Cheese Soup - I also got the recipe off the web (allears) and made it - Marita it is a LOT of work - and it tasted yummy!! but... was it worth the work? I havent made it since, so guess not!! (plus its really really high in calories, cream, bacon...)

Moo and Mony I'll virtually be joining you in Februrary!! I think our finances will be on the upswing then - and I have a birthday and a wii wish!! ;)

Nab I think its 0 deg F here before its indoors... One year it was 30 deg :rotfl: that was MOST the entire 4 months - that didnt last long! at 50 deg F below zerow WITH a windchill schools used to close - not sure now, but I do know somehow the windchill factor was changed - so neg 50 below zero in '81 was warmer than - 50 below today :confused3

Pumba wii Toy Story didnt get a lot of good reviews on the Budget board :confused3 We also love that at WDW - we went on it 5 or 6 times our last trip - and we're looking forward to this trip!!

Nab: I haven't even started the book yet, 3/4 finished? Impressive. I got caught up in the Nora Roberts Bridal Quartette. Now I am finished and working on one they released from Micheal Crichton. Pirate Lattitudes. They found it after his death. A complete manuscript. I'm giving one of the characters a Johnny Depp appeal in my mind.....sigh.

I'm liking this feel of a stay at home mom. I'm down to one part timer that will be here starting tomorrow for the rest of the week. Then I have an interview with a family on Thursday that have 3 kids. Mom's a nurse and she is lucky to get 2 days a month but thinks things may change to 2 days a week. I've used the time to get things better organized and a few projects completed.

I take an exam on Saturday. It's the basic skills exam that if I pass all three parts, I'll be allowed to apply to the college of education in June. I've picked up the study guide, finally, and thank God I just took that math class. Now I just have to brush up on the formulas.

Have a great day! Stay Healty!

Mony -- I finished the book this morning.... I like the same authors as you do. There are a few books out there that I want to read now and the last one you mentioned is on there.

Most times a stay at home mom is a good thing but other times I wished I worked. For the social part, the money part and weekend and holidays would seem more special. Something to look forward too if you know what a I mean.

Nab: It's something I will look forward to one day when I am a teacher. Can't wait to have the summers and holidays off with my kids. I see a pool in my future and lots of camping.

My laundry room is clean, my laundry has been caught up. I organized and cleaned the pantry, I cleaned out the fridge, the dinning room table is cleared, my counters are getting there. I was able to work out after the kids went to school. Me and Maddy did, she was so cute trying to copy me.

Oh, I was able to iron on all of Mal's patches she's been earning being a Daisy. All that at my own leisure.

So, that is my taste of a stay at home mom:)

I, too was (once upon a time), a stay at home mom...I went to all the meetings and all the plays and all the day time activities that the Catholic school put on for them. I volunteered at the school library and went on any field trips that they needed another person to help out with.......I also substituted when one of the teachers were either in meetings or out sick...
I am glad that I did this. Of course we could of had more financial earnings if i had gone and got a job but oh well.
SOOOOOOO I had day care kids....finished off with my great niece Ava two or three weeks ago.......BUT I miss her so much........
I read the first of Nora Roberts wedding book one......I need to pick up the second one......I got some gift certificates for Barnes and Noble an I want to get the 7 books of Harry Potter.....or the Twilight books......I could read those over and over again.....OR I could wait for Lincoln Child and Douglas PRestons new book to come out.....

Hope you all have a great day

Yes I am still sitting here....:lmao: Well actually I went out to get the mail.

Ali-- I got your Christmas card today. It was stamped Dec 21, it looked like it was stamped with Kermit the frog with a hat and scarf, beside the stamps.

It only cost you guys 44 cents to mail a letter? It costs us 53 cents now I think to mail in Canada. It seems to go up a penny every Jan. Unless you have left over stamps you can use them up. Two years ago they stop putting the price on stamps.:confused3

It is snowing quite nicely out there right now, big snow flakes. This morning it was -18 and now it is a warm -8 ( 18 F to you )

I am SO tired of being cold!!

I must go clean out a closet to find clothes to throwaway at marathon...
made homemade Banana ' no-nut - Bread!!
making homemade Beef Barley soup for dinner
made BLT sandwiches for lunch...

(cleaning out the fridge :rotfl2:)

Weather is predicting the worst of the snow from 5 - 8am on THursday (the day we fly) turns out we're flying out on the first flight American Airlines has - that will help - just pray we dont sit on no tarmec for hours (and that it doesnt crash... minor details!)

NAB - price of stamps here changes so much - I can never remember - we can only use the old stamps if we bought "Forever" stamps (forever good even if they raise prices) or you buy 1cent, or 2cent or... cent stamp to cover the increase...

GEESH GUYS......wake up......this was on page three for goodness sakes.

IT is COLD here this morning but what else is new..

Our granddaughter came over yesterday and we played Wii...it was fun. Then she sort of quietly said......"Gramma do you think you could make mac and cheese for dinner before I go back to campus?" So good thing I had a block of extra sharp cheddar cheese ...made it last night and had a nice visit with her. She has to go back Thursday for training with the newer RA's....So she will be gone a few days early. New semester starts on Monday.
She is a good student and so is her boyfriend......they both got 4.0's and they both studied hard.
The dang neighbor next door is having a roof replaced and they are doing the metal roofing......so at five of seven I hear the saw start up....So remember that sleeping in I was going to do after my sweet little Ava left . Well it hasnt worked yet.......geesh...

I'm awake Pumba , just trying to get the other to move this morning. This is worse then Monday..... I think I made homemade mac and cheese once and the kids didn't like it they wanted the box stuff. :sad2:

It is cold here too but I guess that is why they call it winter, I am ready for spring. It is the darn wind this year.

Moo-- did you get to watch the Biggest Loser last night?

I guess I should make some "what I will do projects for each day"....So today I will do this front living room.....Take down the antlers (except) the big moose ones.....and dust them all ...then do the china closet that some how the dust gets in and makes it look crudy.....geesh....then my computer area cleaned up......hmmmmm yup that is it for today......tomorrow maybe I will do the other side of the other living room .....but that means the book case and the books that have to come out in order to get to that hidden dust......I did get rid of over 100 cooking books.....I only kept some of the old ones and all the ones that come from local credit unions and school function ones...good home cooking type meals....
I love one cooking book that belonged to hubbies gramma...it had a great recipe for crepes. SO if I want to make some I grab that one and out comes the crepes ala pumba..

Nab it is wicked windy today too.....Megara had a hard time staying still on the ice in the back yard and also having the wind blow her as she politely squatted...poor thing.

ALot of the kiddos do not like home made mac and cheese.....but gd and gs grew up having mine once or twice a month......My sister makes her with velvetta cheese......and I dont care for that type......Extra sharp cheddar is the way I go......hahaha....

Can the snow not wait 24 HOURS? all these gloom and doom forecast is making me want to puke!

DH bought me a nice rain jacket for running - and I cant find it. So I went to work in closets... its embarrassing how many bags of garbage I filled looking for the jacket....

still no jacket - 1 more closet to search...

I HAVE NOT STARTED PACKING! Today I have a chiropractor appt at 2, and then we have to take our new puppy to DS house - he thought we'd be gone just for the marathon - ooops, sorry 9 days - we didnt take a vacation in '09 - THIS is our vacation...

you know, nice warm, sunny Florida, to get away from the cold frozen north.... :rolleyes1

I watched part of the Biggest Loser - did they show Shay from last season ( formerly the biggest contestant)? The paper said subway and BL is going to pay her $1,000 for EVERY POUND she loses! Talk about motivation!

Sandy they did not show Shay , I don't think we will see her until the end finale. Good luck on finding your hubby's coat.

Saw on the news the last few nights that Toronto got new full body scaning machines at the airport, they see all of you. People are concerned these pictures will show up somewhere but they are suppose to be erased right away what ever that might mean. The person who sees the image is not in the same place so they can't see your face either....good thing.

Today I am going to wash that darn floor if it kills me....:lmao:

Happy New Year!

Okay so as usual I am a day (or week) late and a dollar (or a couple thousand) short. ;)

I see we are posting our Daily Goals. I just keep moving mine to the next day. I do need to do laundry and start some baby laundry. And find the infant carseat. And maybe set up the pack-n-play for the new kid.

I am due Jan 30th but my goal is to be ready by Jan 15th. I don't think I will go early because my mom is praying that I don't. She can't come until the very end of the month. Plus the DH is super busy at work this month. And the high tomorrow is 2. It seems easier to be pregnant than to have a newborn with that kind of weather.

So enough about me... how are YOU? the collective YOU as our ol' buddy Syd would have said.

Speaking of OLD BUDDIES- I hope that all of you as well as our MIA peeps are doing well and have a happy and healthy New YEAR.

Twinkie-- I thought you were due in March? It seems like you just told us yesterday that you were pregnant again.

Mind you I can't believe it has been two years since Isaac and Gab. Time flies.

GUESS WHAT.
My Niece called and asked if I could watch my AVA on Friday.....I am so excited....I have missed her and have only seen her three or so times.....I dont want to mess up her adjustment going to her aunties house.

I am almost getting there......I ate lunch.....took a shower, and now i have polish and a rag and window cleaner and paper towels sitting next to me......I guess I had better get going and DO IT......
See ya later gators
