Well, I stay home to avoid the storm of the century, I mean cough, yesterday, but it never came.... Not a drop of rain.

Great news though, DS got approved for promotion to Captain!! Used to be automatic, but now a board has to approve them. He passed with definitely promote, YAY Funny thing is, it wont actuall happen till 9 months from now when he finishes his 4th year. Don't ask me about the timeline, im pretty clueless, but I think some classes figure in there somewhere.
Now if only DD could get a job, sigh!!

Pumba, I got the pic of the Moose fnally, maybe I was blind. WOW, that is one HUGE Moose! (poor thing)

Marita-- What a proud mom moment for you and your son. I can remember when he was having trouble getting in and now look at him.

Speaking of rain. We are getting hit hard. Last night it was so windy and the rain heavy. Still raining now so I will have to drive the kids to school this morning. That means they can sleep a little longer but I am up now.

Nicholas tutor comes tonight for the first time and we have a prarent interviews at his school tonight too. That should be fun.... So that means I will have to pick up my main floor since they they will be in the kitchen at the table.

Morning..
RAIN AGAIN today...
yesterday...before the rain started ...THE TREE MEN CAME AND GOT RID OF ALL THE TREES.........what an amazing job......three of the pines were close to the bottom deck and the neighbors fence......not one thing happened...
so they cleaned up and I paid the BIG BUCKS.....but no more worries..
MARITA..
COngratulations to your son.......I too was thinking about when he didnt know if he could get in or not.........They knew a good man when they got him..

hope you all have a good day

Pumba - Yay for getting those pesky trees taken care of!

Marita - Great news about your son's promotion :) We're getting plenty of rain here. Very damp and chilly. And most of our pretty leaves have fallen.

Nabbie - I got on-line last night and booked dinner at Palo on Nassau day for me and my sister. Hope it's not the same night as a restaurant we won't want to miss!!! Since we have the late dinner seating, I figured we might try dinner earlier that night, so I booked it for 6:30. I also booked bikes and floats/tubes for both of our Castaway Cay days :goodvibes Hope it'll be warm enough to swim.

Moo-- we finally got our flights booked. :woohoo: Now where to stay.... We haven't booked anything yet. I think hubby was looking into the parasailing again for the three of them. Hannah does not know this yet. That is for one of the days and I think the other one he signed up Nicholas for the teen adventures. I will just find myself a seat and read, maybe play in the sand with Hannah.

Nicholas had his first tutor session last night , it went well. She looks so young, just graduated from teachers college. Had parent interviews last night, he failing science and needs to pick it up. The tutor said she will help him there too.

Our church bazaar is tomorrow so I help set it up today. I can't go though because we are heading to my Mom's tonight. Have a baby shower to go to tomorrow for my nephew and his wife. Hannah is excited since this is her first one. The baby is due in Jan. and we know it is a boy.

Hope we have nice weather for the drive there and back. It didn't rain today but it is pretty cold. Tempted to put the furnace on but didn't. I can handle 66 degrees in the house. Just put a sweater on and blanket to watch tv.

Nabbie - Have a nice visit with your family :) I'm happy to hear that you got your flights booked! Please PM me with your arrival and departure dates when you get a chance.

It's nice to have most of my planning completed. I have a couple edits I will need to make to my cruise check-in information (waiting for my sister's passport information and to figure out if she wants to do an onboard cash deposit or if we'll use my credit card and have her reimburse me). I noticed on our cruise meet thread that someone signed up for their port arrival time as part of check-in. Glad I saw that since Don will be dropping us off at the port! I couldn't get the 11:00 am arrival time, but 11:30 am will be fine. That should give us plenty of time to get breakfast and we'll also have extra time to explore the ship before we sail pirate:

hello all...
Today the SUN IS OUT ...love that ...makes the house warm up so good and I love the feeling of it when I walk thru ..

hubby is at the other house working and I am here typing...but will get the rest of the work done..

Yesterday he went up north to get the moose meat and drop some off at our granddaughters boyfriends parents...that is where she stays....
Well we weighed most of the meat here and omg it was like 350 lbs....we will start sharing with the family later.....

Guess I will go and do the housework....laundry is done and folded and put away..now to do the beds.......see ya later moovers

Yikes, Pumba - That's a LOT of moose meat!!! I was just reading an article today about a 300 lb. black bear being hit by a car in a developed area of Grand Rapids near a small Christian university. I've been in that area and it was pretty shocking to about! The theory was that the bear was traveling near the river corridor.

We talked with our DD last night and she confirmed that she and her BF will be visiting for Thanksgiving :cool1: :goodvibes :thumbsup2 I told her about our progress with Christmas vacation plans and she asked where we're staying when we visit. Oops! I forgot all about making THOSE reservations, LOL :lmao: So I am researching where to stay nearby since they really don't have enough room for us to sleep. The place where we've stayed a couple times before was a Holiday Inn Express and it was rather run down and is no longer part of the chain, so we're trying to figure out an alternative hotel. Right now, I'm leaning toward Comfort Suites based on price, but am a little leery because I've had asthma problems at Comfort Inns before due to all the room freshener crap they use. Ugh! I think I'll try calling to see if they use room freshener sprays. If so, I'll probably check on a Hampton Inn that's a little further away.

Pumba, thats a heck of alot of meat. I was complaining to DH the other day I can't even find room to store a few things in the freezer to take to lunch over the weekend It amazes me, we have so much stuff nobody ever eats sigh!

Moo, hope you find a hotel to fit you. A lot of places are starting to offer allergy free, green, no chemicals, whatever they call it rooms now, but they are mostly the expensive places for now, and they charge extra for those rooms

Not much to report on my end, normal stuff.Still dont know about DS coming gor thanksgiving, which really sucks cause it will get really expensive for him

I put a kitchen floor cleaning robot machine on my xmas list, we'll see if anyone bites! And I might add the robot vacuum too. I really dont need/want anything else. If they rebel, they can do the work:rolleyes1

ha! and you thought i was dead..or worst hanging out with wheat
thins?

...well my lil' sweetie missed up our photo pass, dwats! even

with my numerous reminders..guess someone wasn't listening,

:rolleyes2 ,

moo? are you still following msu? :jumping2: ...last week was a darn

nail biter. back to the osu/msu game- did you see the cameraman

pan the stadium after they "put" back one second? fyi, that gave
me a nagging pit in my stomach..that almost came true. ( the on-
side kick should have been recovered by osu, oh, my ~~ & they
could have lost the game. funny how the announcers were commenting
on how the fans were taking things in stride & laughing about that
one second./\/\/

as you may know your coach has alot of osu fans except when they are
playing each other. even still, everyone knows osu is rebuilding from
scratch...but there are many , many players on msu that are from the
buckeye state..."liked a majority"...wonder if it has to do with your
"classy" coach??? :rolleyes1

oh, the badgers? i do not care for their coach @ all! , especially
the way he runs up the scoring on indiana & any one he can. he is
arrogrant beyond his years. you can't imagined how :yay: i
was with last week game. noticed how far they dropped? you think he
has made alot unhappy folks.

i am " :sad2: " over the osu thing. esp. for the coach. now watching
every school jumping ship....the ncaa needs to listened to a
mental health specialist about how to structure "this" after-school
activity without just thinking about the $$$$! who are these
people without brains?

kinda funny but there were tons of folks rooting for msu over
the badgers.....very ironic, huh?

as for the dvc sites here....ha! it is so obvious that the majority
are rci experts scanning & manipulative for dvc rooms. some of these
experts try to sell owners that they have no choices in their
rooms..righttttt?! funny, i know for a fact that dvc personnel
knows who are staying in what rooms. it just liked all these resales
wanting to pay less but the same /better choices....righttt,- one can
have & eat their cake @ the same time. it took me awhile to
figured these things out but we're doing much better in using
dvc for it's intended purposes. and while i am not popular on the site
here, ( dvc), there isn't near the bullying that was going on
when i started pointing the things out. ha, in my professional ways....

well our member cruise & blt trip went very well. we won 2 ducky
drawings..peter pan & alice. nor did we see any pick up girls this
time. however, things are still far from prefect. one guy was so drunk,
he told us he was on the elevators for 1/2 hr. & still couldn't
find his floor. there were also a dozen of girls, without no adults,,
think early 20's & they were not dressed very "lady" liked. ( when
we passed ..it just didn't seem right that made me looked back, &
it made me realized their "fronts" were covering up..sexual types
outfits underneath...made me wonder if they were going to some
kind of party. { trust me, in my work place, we learn when things
are not quite right....} we will not accept any first floor rooms
any more. also the escorts up to the lounge did not know the
official rules. but over all things were better than last christmas.

gosh-zooks, i wish there better security in that building @ night.
can't help wondering how many insiders are using the empty rooms,
for partying.

is m. poppins keep busy with her lil' disney princess: ? does
she know who making wedding dresses these days? disney~!
my not so lil' princess pointed that out.. 2 things
happened @ the parks. a bus driver played a tape warning everyone
to be on the best behavior because a disney princess: was
riding with us. everyone was trying to figured who it was...
but in the end , it was my lil' ariel. then a worker heading
to work @ the studios made an announcement that the "real
ariel" was @ the park today...we got that one pretty quick,

Moo-- Yay for your dd coming home. I almost forgot that you guys haven't had Thanksgiving yet. We are on to Halloween. Which is coming up fast.

Lil'g-- you always have adventures on your trips. Cute about the bus driver and your dd.

Not much happening here either. I have been out shopping the last few days looking for a Christmas dress for Hannah. We are getting our family picture done in 3 weeks and her dress sets the colour scheme of the pic.

Hannah gets to dress up for Guides tonight. They are having a Halloween party. She is going to be an angel this year. Nicholas has football tonight too. Busy day of running here and there.

Morning dear friends..

This morning I slept in for a few...Ava's day off...or mine I should say...Have to go to the doctors office for a recheck on my bp...the new meds are working ..cause I take my bp and it is lower then it was before..The first week ..my bp was TO LOW ..I felt weak and like I couldnt bother to get up from my seat..but now it is okey..

Yesterday another two ticks found their way onto poor Megaras body...I will do some research today to see what type of chemical we can use on the back yard without bothering her or kids or other visiiting animals..

I love the sun ...it is finally shining thru all the fog that surrounded the area this morning....on the other side of the street...behind the houses is a big protected area....wetlands and plenty of space for deer to roam....so that is probably part of the deer ticks that we are finding..

Hope you all have a great day ...cause I will go out and rake up the front of the house......the back is where all the ewwwwww's are...hahaha:laughing:

Lil G, very cool about your DD, And you sure cant ever get a trip without drama, LOL.

One little bit of news here. My DD, who converted to Judaism last year, just was selected for a 10 expense paid trip to Israel. How cool is that?
Funny thing is, the organization is called birthright Israel, she doent have drop of jewish blood in her body: half german, the rest American Indian, French Canadian and English. But good for her.

Marita-- That is cool and funny at the same time about your dd trip.

Nicholas played football in the mud last night but they won. He is all beat up though, cuts, bruises and lots of aches and pains this morning. They have won all there games but one so they will be going to the play offs. I was hoping that there was only one or two left but Nicholas said there are 5 , at that rate he will be playing in the snow it is so cold here.

Speaking of weather the last couple of years the fall weather was not too bad, even in Dec. But this year it is so cold already. They say they may even get some snow flurries north of us on Friday. Halloween is going to be so cold on Monday....

Lil G! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip and cruise :) I didn't watch the MSU game, but many of my friends were extremely happy with the outcome :cloud9:

Marita - I wish those allergen free rooms were more widely available - I would happily pay a bit more for fragrance free. Wow, that is cool news about your DD's trip! Did she embrace Judaism due to a boyfriend or for other reasons? I don't remember you mentioning that before.

Nabbie - It has gotten really chilly and rainy again here :( Did you see the Northern lights Monday night? I'm SO bummed that I missed seeing them. That is one of my bucket list items. A couple of my coworkers lucked out and saw them. All I saw was the lightning storm last night  Somewhat impressive, but not as cool as red and green lights in the sky!!!

Moo, dd converted for personal reasons, not a boyfriend That would be pretty shallow, LOL. No boyfriend in sight My BBF said she should find a nice husband in Israel:scared1:

Northern lights would be cool, or those meteor showers, I have yet to see either (of course, Nothern would be out unless I actually went north)

We had a Resorts Finance potluck today, about 50 or more people there. I took the easy way out and brought rolls and butter. I never realized, 4 sticks of butter are almost $5 now????? Only used one there, so 3 left for other things, but geez!

Entertainment was a photo scavenger hunt of disney properties all over the world and cruise line, and then a long trivia contest.

The most intereting question I though was: what did Walt Disney consider his gift to mankind?"

Answer: Epcot
Of course, that never did turn out the way he imagined.
Prizes were tickets to Disney Quest, wristbands to Stormalong Bay, tickets to Typhoon lagoon and a fireworks cruise for 10. I didn't want any of them, except maybe the fireworks cruise would have been neat But I didnt win, anyway. Oh, forgot, also a cabana rental for the day. Which are cool prizes for Finance, except for the cruise, they reall don't cost anything additional in labor

Marita - That's interesting about your DD. Most people that I have heard about who have converted to a religion that they don't grow up with become Catholic in order to get married. My former boss's son's fiancee recently went through all the classes to convert to Catholicism so she could marry him in the church.

Too bad you didn't win one of those prizes at your potluck!

Moo, I didnt want any of those prizes anyway. Now, if it been a dinner at V&A's, that would be a different story

My husband and his family were all Baptists and I was the little ol' Catholic girl...he took classes but didnt convert...this was so we could marry in the Church and our kids were brought up Catholic....he was very good in making sure they went to their religious classes and Church on Sunday...Or Saturday evening.....

Time sure flies.....I remember when....big sigh here...:confused3

A persons religious preference is always okey with me.....Hubby didnt convert but was okey with going to our church once in a while..
I sort of dropped in and out a few times when things happened that I didnt understand why it did .......like when my nephew died at the age of 21....bad car accident.....When my sister passed away.......why these things happen and to good people....My little niece that was only 3 days old when she was diagnosed with menigitis and died waiting for a liver transplant in CT at the age of six weeks.......things didnt seem fair to me then and sometimes I think to much ...and go back to that same feeling.......good that I can express myself to you guys.......cause I do feel like you have been around forEVER..hahaha.
sorry to get so sappy....must be the dark and chilly day ...

have a good day

Pumba-- Yes it must be the dark chilly day.

My hubby goes to church with us every Sunday that he not working but he is Luthern. We didn't have to do any classes to get married in the Catholic church. Just didn't have a full mass. My first hubby and I were married in the same church only he wasn't Catholic either. I was married by the same priest for both weddings.

Marita-- you do such cool things at work. We were lucky to have a summer picnic or Christmas party when I worked.

Went to Hannah's school because she got an award today from her teacher at the assembly. They give out awards monthly for each grade. Anyway there was a boy in grade 4 who wasn't there today but the principle said not to feel bad for him because he was on a cruise, then she said a Disney Cruise at that.

I get to sleep in tomorrow, kids have the day off school tomorrow. It's going to be pretty cold out for the next few days maybe I will let them carve the pumpkins we got today.
